shit man, I was just having a gander thru Boxrec and came across the GMan...thought I would scout the internet to see if I could find anything about how he is now...did not see anything really but came across this on a messageboard, not Saddo's, which is takenfrom a discussion a few years ago....this is apparently about McLellan b4 he got screwed up by Benn....

McClellan always had about 15 girlfriends apparently, and would beat them all up :)

And yeah, he loved his dogfighting. His favourite dog was 'Deuce', a pitbull who finished fights early.

There was a good read posted around here some time ago about what a vicious f#ck he was. He was definitely into fighting pits and it was said that he would muzzle a stray and let his pit kill it, he likened it to sparring, also a story about him running over pelicans with his car. I never heard about cat pinatas. If anything it just makes me feel sorrier for him.

mclennan did seem to be into a few things that others would consider rather taboo.....personally not my kind of thing really :-\

If McClellan would of put Benn in the same condition he's in. I doubt he would of shown any remorse. He believed in the theory kill or be killed. Can't knock him for that. It's what gave him his viciousness.

I'd heard the stories about him too. About how he'd buy a dog then tape it's mouth shut so it couldn't fight back, then time how long it took his dog to kill it. Very nasty. I don't wish paralysis on anyone, but if there was a guy who had it coming, he'd be it.

he may or may not have done those things but what happened to him was very sad. i watched the fight live and was yelling at the tv hopeing benn would win, again that was a great fight which ended in a sad way

That was all part of Alis showmanship and character, it made his fights fun to watch and for Ali it was part of the pyschological (spelling?) warfare he waged against his opponent, for this he does not deserve to be disabled.

there is a big difference between taunting an opponent to hype a fight and the kind of stuff mclennan was into...not comparable IMO...

I think Ali was a fucking disgrace, a grandstanding holier than thou faggot. He had all the talent in the world but how can you be a part of the civil rights movement and then go and call Sonny Liston a bear, Joe Frazier and George Foreman Uncle Toms.....really pisses me off, and it always has that would be like me calling a black fighter the n word. to be fair to benn, he got up and he was able to continue...

and in all honesty hindsight is a wonderful thing....noone knew the extent of mclennan's damage and he was still competing relatively well at times....

I seriously do think the ref was negligent in this case and I think of it alongside Benny Paret's death as something that never should have happened.

It's a miracle Benn wasn't seriously damaged as well, we all remember him totally defenseless and slumping backwards out of the ring and this is the point at which I would have called the fight.

i think the corner team should have spoted something was wrong when he couldn't keep the sheild in, towards the end he started blinking heavyly at which they should have seen that and maybe called it.

BUT ITS EASY TO SAY ALL OF THIS AFTER THE FIGHT, AT THAT MOMENT IN TIME WHO KNOWS HOW ANYONE WOULD REACT

I'm not educated on this subject at all, could you guys be more specific about what you're talking about? I never seen the fight and don't know the story, so this all seems very unclear, other than the fact dogfighting should carry a 30 to life sentence.

I love boxing however i totaly agree with your statement, animals are totaly at our mercy in every which way us humans can protest with our voice boxing is a sport where two people agree to enter the ring its there choice . Dog fighting or any kind of animal fighting is babaric and they do not have a choice
