:'( this really gets me down, seeing a future hall of famer and all around great heavyweight embarass himself with such idiotic ploys

Re: Evander Holyfield VS Frank Wood IS ON at : 07/29/2006 . . .
i hope for evanders sake he doesn't get to seriously hurt.
its not enough for him that he was the first man to unify the cruise division and the only 4 time world heavy division he now wants to be the oldest world champ

Til he gets brain damage. Man he's already there and showing it by his slurring of words and all. And with brain damage it doesn't stop once the beatings do. The brain continues to deteriorate, just like Evander's chances of knowing his own name at 50.

Re: Evander Holyfield VS Frank Wood IS ON at : 07/29/2006 . . .
Hopefully this Woods guy can fight ie box... But also has a heart. If I were him I would just jab Holyfield all night and hit him with light punches, all the while saying "time to retire old man, you can't fight anymore." Although I think if that happened Holyfield would still try to.. Did anyone see him vs Larry Donald?? I really think just about anyone with arms can beat him now, he has no reflexes whatsoever. I hope this guy just outboxes him completely but doesn't hurt him... That would be best.

Re: Evander Holyfield VS Frank Wood IS ON at : 07/29/2006 . . .
Your crazy to even root for Evander at this stage in his career. A true fan would want him to stop immediately. And the guy's right, he's already slurrying and his voice has changed. A real fan should know this.
Ali couldn't box to age 45. And it helps that Foreman took 10 years off, then came back. Also, Foreman is the most powerful boxer ever to enter the ring. Power is the last to leave a boxer. Foreman could always depend on his power.
Evander's is a funny guy. Witty, smart, charasmatic, wise, honest... I could go on and on.
He'll lose most of his personality should he continue. He's already lost some motorskills and his relfexes are shot.

Re: Evander Holyfield VS Frank Wood IS ON at : 07/29/2006 . . .
Holyfield has all of boxing history and the wisdom of boxing experts to call upon and yet he ignores all of it and keeps fighting. If he was fighting exhibition matches with oversized gloves and headgear I wouldn't complain too much but fighting a decent pro like Frank Wood seems unwise. Wood is not world class but he's 26-3 and typically weighs around 220 to 230 lbs. Holyfield could get hurt. Maybe getting knocked unconscious is what it will take for him to finally call it quits.

Who cares what his body looks like. Mike Weaver had the adonis look til he was 50 and in his last years couldn't fight any more. I think he was knocked out in his last fight by an almost 50 year old Holmes.

Re: Evander Holyfield VS Frank Wood IS ON at : 07/29/2006 . . .
Even though it'd make plenty of people mad, even fine Frank Wood.
If I were Wood (heheheh <-- "If I were wood."),
I would walk in the ring, then go up to the microphone and say to the crowd, "Evander your the greatest, and you should quit, but since you can't, I'll do it for you."
Then I'd walk out of the fight all together.
At this point in Evander's career, the OPPONENTS, promoters, and opposing team's manager, Evander's manager, and Evander's team.... are to blame ALSO.

I agree except there is no way the opponents are to blame.. Holyfield himself is to blame, and maybe his management and those around him.. But the opponents they pick certainly arent.. If anything this will probably be the biggest paycheck Frank Woods will ever recieve in his life, it could be how he feeds his children for years..We don't know.. The point is there are thousands of average level fighters who would give an arm and a leg to fight a big name like Holyfield, no matter how old he is they still make some money... Hell this is boxing everyone knows the risks, I just don't think you can distribute the blame like that, it's Holyfields problem... We all know there are guys who will fight him.

Rahman, the point is there is no further reason for him to fight. He can't beat a legitimate top 10 contender to gain even a title shot let alone win a title at this stage of the game. So why bother. We are concerned for his health right now. If he wants to have a goodbue fight in his hometown vs a Dicky Ryan, fine. Someone who we hope can't harm him. Beyond that he needs to retire, since the commissions can't. Having said all that, watch Vaulev offer him a title shot if he beats this guy.

Re: Evander Holyfield VS Frank Wood IS ON at : 07/29/2006 . . .
As sad as it sounds, Holyfield will summon some magic against a nobody. Then, instead of retiring, he will state that he just showed he is in the best shape of his life, and still wants to be champ.
Hang em up Holy!

Yes u are right but i watched Holyfield last fight VS Larry Donald and Donald out point him but even Valuev had problems VS Larry Donald . . .
If Evander training hard he would maybe still be champ . . . ;D But i see more chance for Evander at Cruiserweight because this O'Neil Bell is not that great at all . . .

Re: Evander Holyfield VS Frank Wood IS ON at : 07/29/2006 . . .
And i vote that Evander will TKO Frank Wood . . . ;) Even boxers like Sherman Williams and Leo Nolan made a TKO VS him . . . Leo Nolan a clown boxer who has no power at all . . . :lolhaha:

i can see him walking to the ring with crutch's in 2012 :beatup2: and see them wheeling evender to the ring for a fight in 2020
