Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
I have 2 questions.
1.Why did Byrd bring his hands down? He seemed to be blocking at least the majority of the shots with his hands up.
2. Where was the footwork? Even in close they had no lateral movement, and even less head movement, but seriously I've seen old George Foreman and Butterbean show more footwork than these guys did, and thats a shame considering these are the two most skilled heavyweights in the world.
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
i dont think byrd ever saw the right hand coming, he would just stand there parrying the 3-4 jabs that boom he would get caught.
He couldn't get past Wlad's jab to even land anything significant really, imo Klit did a masterful performance
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
Well
1. Wlad was slapping his arms down all night, 2 the hands didn't do much against that right hand, might have slowed it down a bit but it obviously still hurt him
2. Wlad didn't have to move, Byrd didn't move at all, I have no idea why but he never had the best footwork just upper body movement and he didn't use that at all either
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
I think Wladimir could have had more open shots had he used more footwork, and Byrd could have been more effective using better footwork. Also initially I felt Byrd with his hands up really high could block Wlad's right hand which IMO should have been easily avoidable because it wasn't lightning fast or anything. Byrd moving to his right with his hands up would have nullified almost Wlad's whole arsenal, and he could have worked off Wlad's jab which is slow to get back and work the body harder, and eventually the head.

Yes it was really a shame how was Byrd performance that night . . . Everybody said where is the fasy Byrd ? ? ? But he was standing at the ring like a stick and turning around only around Wladimir . . .
I think that Byrd would go to the distance by 12 rounds or 10 but he did notting really . . . It was a shame for boxing that night for Byrd and Wladimir made a good performance with hids strong jabs i right hand stactic. . .

Byrd could have had his best performance ever and still wouldn't have beaten Wladimir.Wladimir is just to smart for him.

big vladdy was feeding byrds glove, trying to get him comfortable with its positioning so he could put the right hand between the gloves
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
byrd was seriously lacking the very basic side to side head movement he was trying to pull back ..i was surprised he seemed like he didnt know better ???
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
and also, i don't think Byrd's power can really hurt Wlad that badly
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
Byrd sucks! Like I said before, this fight shouldn't have happened.
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
I figured there was gonna be trouble for Byrd when he said Duncan Dokiwari hit him hard...I was like WLAD BY KO!!! Dokiwari is not THAT hard of a puncher else he would have been able to rid us of Guinn
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
I still say if Byrd had a better trainer he could have done alot better if not win. I mean who tells a pillow punching person who maxes out at 213 pounds to fight a bull fight against somebody who is 241 pounds of muscle, and could easily be more who has tendency to just jab and cross the bull rusher comming in then tie them up, and start over again. Byrd won one round, and that was the first because he stayed back and was able to counter the slower Wladimir. I think Byrd should have stayed at the same distance he was in the first round only use more foot and head movement, and continue to counter off the jab to the body because Wlad takes awhile to get his jab back.

I dont know about being too smart but being a foot taller and 3 stone heavier certainly helped!
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
Byrd had little to no chance going in. And I think even he knew that
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
I don't know if training would have helped much. I think the point being missed is just how fast Wlad is. It seems like Wlad is finally on a mission..Don't forget..a good big man will always beat a good small man.
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
Dispite the paths their carrers took since, Wvlad was better than in the 1st fight and Byrd was worse

Man when fought Dokiwari VS Byrfd at sparing or what ? ? ? Or from where Byrd now that Dokiwari hit hard ? ? ? I saw Dokiwari at Nigeria and he stop with boxing . . . He got big arms with big biceps . . . ;D But dont have good skills and he dont have a good chin too so he got enougfh US Dollars and enjoying life around USA and Nigeria now . . .
Re: Just saw Byrd vs. Wladimir
Chris could have done better if he circled to his right away from Wlad's right hand. Since he could get to his body with the straight left when he did that. But he went toward his left and to Wlad's right, you knew after the 2nd round how it would be.
