Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
Normally when it's a big PPV Showdown...the Wackster get's all up in the air. I start screamin & hollerin about who's gonna do dis & who's gonna do dat!!!
You'll hear none of that on this Drunken Round by Round!
This weekend my all time favorite fighter climbs over the ropes & back into the ring to face my all time most hated fighter for what I feel will be one of the biggest let downs this year in boxing...unless of course you factor in the Hopkins Taylor fights...& that was soooooooo last year Becky! I'm soooooooooo over it! Becky! Heh heh heh.
Anywho, this weekend Saturday May the 6th, 2006 my Latin hero Oscar De la Hoya (37 wins with 29 ko's & 4 losses) kicks off his retirement tour against Nicaragua's potty moufs of all potty moufs Ricardo Mayorga (28 wins with 23 ko's, 5 losses, & 1 draw) for the rights to say...I own & wear the WBC's Light Middleweight title...hooooooooooorah!
Generally...I'm all giddy over big fights...but honestly...this one really hasn't done shat for me. Maybe it's the corny a** "Danger Zone" spot that HBO broadcasts more than a hooka crams...well...you know what most of the cram down therr throats! Thanks HBO...thanks for making me feel like a hooka! Maybe it's the fact that my boy's a bit long in the tooth & shoulda just hung em up after the Hopkins loss...or maybe it's just the fact that I despise Ricardo Mayorga.
Whatever it is...I'll be here for the fight...because I love boxing...& we gotta have the DRBR by any means necessary.
That being said...a little rundown...not a breakdown...not an analysis...just a fwockin half hearted rundown...
Speaking of which...that's about what we'll be getting.
I'm sorry to say...a battle of the rundowns.
Oscar's been on the slide for about the past three years. He knows it, his fans know it, HBO knows it...hence the reason that they are touting Mayweather as the next Golden Boy...but that's another story for another day.
Oscar's been jumping up in weight & has ruined his career in doing so...that along with the fact that he has faced the best that those divisions he wanted to conquer had to offer is the reason that retirement is imminent. What more can you really say? We can go over Oscar's career...& it was brilliant...but the truth of the matter is that it is coming to an end. He's been in too many wars & he's got his mind & heart on other matters...money, promotions, & his family. Nothing wrong with that. If he does beat Mayorga & walks away...he will have done what most in boxing can not & do not do...retire wealthy, happy, & healthy.
On to Mayorga...honestly...I shouldn't be the one to judge Mayorga...just because I can't stand him & I think that he is bad for boxing. I was impressed with his destruction of Forrest...I really was...& I am a fan of Forrest....I was amused by his antics in the ring...but only momentarily. I was really impressed with his loss to Spinks...it showed his versatility. ::** He's a bit out of control...& I know that shat sells to the younger generation of boxing/MMA fans...but he's just bad for boxing. Who wants to see him run around grabbing his dick & belittling his opponents that way...talk in the ring & do it with your fists...either that or get your a** handed to you by real men once you climb into the ring.
I favor the latter most.
Mayorga does entertain...but at what cost? Either way...Mayorga's fun to watch in the ring...but for purists...he's not. He's nothing more than a sideshow act that needs to calm himself to a professional level.
As for the outcome...I predict Oscar by TKO. I never bet against Oscar...even when the chips are down...but if Mayorga were to win...I'd be impressed...if Oscar destroys him...like I think that he will...I will be what most Mayorga fans are...amused.
So...as always...break out the chips & salsa...your poison of choice & pick your spot on the couch...Saturday May 6th, 2006 is fight night & it's on like Donkey Kong!
Cheers...& koneecheewah bitches.

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
Sorry to hear this is going to be such a chore for you Wacko ;)
Personally I can't wait for this fight but that probably has something to do with me liking the chain-smoking, foul mouthed, cock grabbing fighters with attitude!
Mayorga, Toney, Tyson I love all of em!
Mayorga to send DLH into retirement with a painful, protracted beating.
However, if Oscar fights Mayorga and knocks him out I will be cheering the golden boy on. It's just I want to see a fight, not a boxing match.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
Im going for a landslide decison for ODLH, far too much class for Mayorga, although one lucky punch.......

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
CC wACK,I share your "Excitement" for the fight,I sooooo hope Mayorga wins but realistically,Oscar easy UD but alot depends on how much of an effect Oscar's break has and if Mayorga has worked on his conditioning or whether he is going to be gassed out after 3 rounds of swinging! I think it will take more than a lucky punch to put Oscar over,he has a decent chin.
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
My question is does Mayorga still have the amazing stamina he showed in the second fight with Forrest?

Prepare to get one of your best wishes true. 8)
I consider Oscar's break a retirement. Hopkins also made Trinidad retire for a moment. And now he's coming back, after one and a half years. Now about two years, he's ready to fight.
Mayorga's stamina is bad, but Oscar's is legendary for going empty.
I also think Oscar's promotional company has aged him. All the stress that goes into business, ages you more than boxing! Wrinkles, losing hair.
Notice I didn't say anything in favor, or good, about Mayorga?
It's because Mayorga's not going to win it,
... rather Oscar is going to lose it.

haha,cc nice way of looking at it but to be honest,Oscar LOSING IT,mAYORGA winning it,makes no difference how it happens,I just want the Wildman to win. I could not care less if it was DQ

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
If Dela Hoya lets his emotions get him out of smart boxing he could and will have a early night, If he fights smart with out getting into any wars he should win pretty easy. But people forget Oscar is getting old, I see the fight this way. Mayorga has gotten into Oscar head about his wife, manhood, culture and etc. Oscar will try to prove he is a man and get stopped viciously. Also, a footnote: Mayorga has really taken this fight seriously and had the best training camp in his whole career.

Advanced clicks for the current comments to date. :coolclick:
Oscar's gonna win...but I don't think that it'll be career defining. If he comes out & totally destroys Mayorga...I shall recant...if it's the opposite...if Mayorga beats Oscar down...I will congratulate Hulk & Saddo...as they are the only two TRUE Mayorga fans on board...
...but that aint sayin much! ;D

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
IMO everyone is overrating Mayorgas chances.. because anything you can say that is a negative for DLH coming into this fight, is also the case for MAyorga.. They are the same age, actually I think Mayorga is a couple years older.. Mayorga has been really inactive as well in recent years, he got a brutal beating, absorbing far more punishment than Oscar ever has, against Tito in 1 fight, and since then hasn't fought except for once against Picirillo who he didn't look good against.. What if he is washed up as well? It's not like he has a style that's suited for longevity and Trinidad gave him a serious potentially career ending beating and he looked like shat in his only fight since. I think it's a far cry to think he will win this one.

I agree, but all that means is he'll be bloodier than necessary. If Oscar had a glass chin I could see your point (implying one punch is Mayorga's only chance), but he doesn't so I'm tempted to believe otherwise. :(

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
Mayorga better knock De La Hoya out. I will not pay nor be interested in DLH vs. PBF. It's a pointless fight.

If DLH wins this fight then boxing will really go down the drain... because nobody wants to see DLH PBF. Its just a waste of time and money.

A Zahir Raheem fight that YOU HAD ZAHIR RAHEEM WINNING! And even made jokes that Freitas didn't even know he lost yet. And then a day later you say "Raheem lost regardless" and said all these things he did, but you didn't look back to notice YOU HAD RAHEEM WINNING THAT FIGHT!!!
And please, Delahoya against that dude he fought before Mosley that kept spitting out his mouthpiece was a lot worse then the Raheem Freitas fight AND IT WAS ON PPV!!!

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
i really dont want to see PBF: DLH either....its a fight that does little to prove anything.
this is a 50: 50 IMO, because there are so many questions that need to be answered by both men. what can they bring to the table at this point in their careers?
im hoping mayorga can pull an upset and and rock old DLH in the process....Delahoya hasnt looked all that good in recent fight and now he is coming back off a 19 month hiatus? i just have a gut feeling that mayorga is the wrong type of wild man to come back into the arena against...
im actually really looking forward to this one and will be surprised if its anything less than interesting...
-
Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
I cant see Mayorga (T)KOing ODLH, and I dont think he can win a decision. Mayorga does not have the skills to out box ODLH. I think both guys are on about the same level. Mayorga has not been very active since he got beat by Tito. The one fight he was in he did not look good. Oscar has been inactive for awhile, I dont care how much he dislikes Mayorga, ODLH wont brawl till Mayorga is ready to be put away.
Oscar will box to a big lead then try to put him away in the later rounds. Oscar by UD.
:coolclick: for the DRbR wacko. Cant wait to read it.

Apart from the training casmp part, you have no real facts, how do you know he is in Oscars head, you just belive that, you dont KNOW it for a fact...

Agree to disagree...I actually want to see the fight now. It would make Floyd the man to beat provided that he wins. Oscar has had & always will have a brilliant career. He's been great for boxing.
Floyd can be too...& I think that he will be...but he does have to beat Oscar.
Then move on to the others & solidify his legacy in the game.

Oscar looked good against Hopkins until the 6th or 7th bell clanged. I think that the layoff will hurt him. Mayorga very well may be the wrong man to come back against.

i get this one live so im happy....just hope its an exciting one....

Re: Just another one of Wacko's Drunken Round by Rounds: De La Hoya vs Mayorga
Technically, this fight should be VERY easy for Oscar de la Hoya.
It's age, stamina, a losing record, and ring rust working against him. Skillwise, he can even stop Mayorga.
Skillwise, after the Corey Spinks fight, I never liked Ricardo Mayorga. He had all the goods to be a great pressure fighter, but he never was, he only posed like a tough guy and threw bombs now and then.
And another thing, Mayorga didn't get into Oscar's head. Oscar was a true professional boxer at 96 (turned pro eariler, but a TRUE pro by 96), ten years from now, he won't fall for all that jive and smack Mayorga's throwing at him. Pssshh! He'll just blow that off, and stick to his game plan. I think this is going to be a closer fight than everybody thinks, with Oscar's skill possibly winning the fight.
But I just think it's too late for Oscar.
I think Mayorga will win, even if it's close, but if it is, I won't be surprised if Oscar wins a controversial decision.
Mayorga by Unanimous Decision
or Oscar by Controversial Split Decision.
Either way, I feel Mayorga will win, and Oscar is losing too much these days.
