What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
Why do British fighters have this problem??
tickets are on sale tomorrow but no opponent named?? Surely they can find a game opponent who must be getting paid pretty well with the HBO intrest and the possible 25000 strong crowd??
Frank and the boys need to sort it out quick!!

Re: What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
Something tells me Sal would lose focus after 3 rounds, like Zab :)
or was it 4 rounds?
Re: What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
I new this crap was gonna happen they wouldn't have the fighter named today. More than likely its gonna be some bum to watch.
Re: What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
I hope its not some bum. I would think that Joe is past fighting guys like that. He is established enough that he needs to find the best and fight them. Whether it is at 168 or 175.
Re: What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
Taylor is way too big to be fighting middleweight IMO anyway, plus Winky showed up at his last fight weighting 174? Both these guys need to grow a sack and step up as well, that should help Joe a little bit. I honestly would love to see Tarver get destroyed by Hopkins, then finally see the Calzaghe/Hopkins fight that shoulda happend years ago, but B-Hop was doing what Taylor is now, keeping down at as low a weight as possible so you know you're stronger than the opponent. Time to be a man fellers :)

That is the most bias thing Ive ever read... Time to be a man?? Calzaghe has never left his backyard and didn't go after any big fights for 9 years ::**. Now he beat a guy who WAS way overrated in Lacy. I suppose that beats out Trinidad or DLH or Hopkins wins.. And Hopkins and Taylor fight at middleweight because that is their best fighting weight... Calzaghe probably weighs in alot heavier than 168 for his fights every fighter does. Your dillusional.. Im sure Calzaghe could find an opponent if he didn't always fight in Wales....
Re: What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
Not biased, just how I see things. Yes time to be a man, theres noone at middlweight for Taylor or Wright aside the other and Taylor can clearly put on weight and fight comfortably. Look at Jermaine's body frame, it's huge compared to 'everyone' he fights. But lets wait and see what he does after. Look at how skinny Hopkins is at 160, I just don't think he's that small unless he purposely tries to be, and why would you try to be if theres noone there to fight? Cause there wasn't anyone at middleweight for years, who Joppy? Hopkins beat a lightweight in ODL (who was a feather puncher at middleweight), you dont gain much ground by saying that lol. Trinidad is almost as 1 dimensional as Lacy. Just have a hard time believe all these years that 160lbs on that big frame is Bernard's only good fighting weight - he easily could of moved up to 175, without losing anything he had at 160 and fought Roy Jones or whoever. And yeah I've said myself Calzaghe is ignorant for not coming out of Europe to fight, but he genuinely wants to fight the best, Hopkins can't say the same or else a few fights would of happend that didn't. He's one of these if it makes dollars it makes sense ungreatful little brats.
And quit waiting around to pounce on someone, forum tough guy O0

You can say the same thing about Hopkins and Calzaghe. Neither went out of their comfort zone to get a big fight. Hopkins comfort zone was 160lbs and Calzaghe's comfort zone is Wales and 168lbs. You can always make the argument that both men wanted to rule their division, but at least Hopkins unified all of the belts at 160. If Joe wants to stay at 168, fine with me, just do something while you are there. Dont be content with just what you have there.

Or he can fight Reggie Strickland
Re: What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
Joe needs to stay busy regardless of who the opponent is. He's not getting any younger. If a mega-fight can't be made, he should just unify all the belts at super-middle. Alot of fights won't happen, so I won't be dissappointed with whoever he fights. If he plans on only fighting a couple of more fights, then I say go for the mega-fight, but if he's going for a couple of more years, then just unify, and stay busy. He'll make his money and solidify that he's one of the best super-middies ever.
Re: What happened to Calzaghe naming opponent today???
No plum tomato can for Joe. He needs to face someone dangerous but not jeopardizing any future fights, if Calzaghe was younger he could afford it, but he should have done that long ago, this is what happens when you wait so long for a super fight no easy fights or you'll never hear the end of it. It will be a letdown whoeevr he chooses.
