Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Almost 7 years later and alot of people believe that there is still unfinished business between the two. If Oscar get's by Mayorga should Tito comeback for a second fight. Tito said he has been thinking about it strongly.

Maybe THIS time Oscar won't run like a deer for four rounds after tasting one of Tito's solid punches.

I agree with you Tito fan. One of the biggest fights in history and you run the last 4 rounds. I have never seen Roy Jones run after establishing a lead, or what about Bernard Hopkins just deciding to quit the last 4 rounds after one of his performances. Never has happened with any great fighter in history. I can see you backing up if you are tired, maybe even holding on occasion but to run around the ring (backward) was a shock to me. He claimed he wanted to perform a boxing show, what happened to the end of the show. I never went to a movie that had no ending or maybe a play where the actors walked out 2/3 into the show. Finish your lesson Oscar! If you saw the Hopkins Vs Taylor fight (1 and 2) you see how a boxer can start to punish your opponent in the late rounds, I feel as though this is what would have happen to Oscar and I think Oscar would agree with me that's why he ran. He was tired and he had very little gas left and I think that by running he robbed Tito of a potential knockout. If you want to stay away from your opponent utilize your jab and circle the ring, don't run it's boxing not track.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
In a way it's the fault of the scoring system in boxing. Any fighter who decides he's won more than enough rounds to win the decision at the end, then turns around and makes like Carl Lewis in the 100 meters for the final rounds, trying to escape a sure KO, deserves to lose the decision.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
well this fight should be happening tonight instead of tonights fight. cuz odlh should be fighting pbf for the swan song.
oscar ran away the last couple rounds cuz don king gave him the biggest pay day on the down low for running. oscar fights for $$$ and not for the glory.
-
Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
I think Oscar would only win a rematch.

Oscar was getting 20 million for the fight, and you think Don King paid him more money under the table therefore forcing him to record a wack ass album and leave boxing for a short stint. Most boxers fight for the money but nobody paid Oscar off.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Should there be a rematch between these two? Yes.
Will there be one? I'm 80-85% convinced there will be.
Why? Oscar always says he wants to go out on top. Well fighting PBF after he beats Mayorga tonight aint the way to do it. An easy rematch against a punching bag like Tito is an easy ride into the sunset for Oscar.

I hope he takes your advice and goes for it. This time he might not be so lucky.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Yes.
Of course I have a bias because the last guy I want Floyd to fight is Oscar.

I agree.
I think Oscar would definitely outclass Tito. Not that Tito sucks... he'll be in the HOF. But I don't see Oscar wasting any energy like he used to these days. He's very economical with his punches. I really do think that he can stand there and fight with Tito.

Tito's done.....he might be younge age wise but he has the body of a 45 yr old....De La Hoya would destroy him now....to many wars on Tito's body..just doesn't have it anymore.....sorry...
Maybe THIS time Oscar won't run like a deer for four rounds after tasting one of Tito's solid punches.
Oscar will avenge his mistake......not a loss..a mistake...and end Tito's career once and for all.......I pray this fight happens....ODLH by KO in 6th....

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
I hope it does happen that way Tito can retire AGAIN and maybe stay gone. I like Tito but Oscar is better and if you want to retire, retire already or stay active one or the other.

Believe me, there's NOTHING I'd like to see more than Oscar thinking he can stand there with Tito and trade punches. Nothing......

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Oscar De La Hoya can't throw straights to the body, he can only hook them. That is why his body shots bounced off the arms of Trinidad and Sturm. Of course Lampley called it magical things.. so I guess Oscar tried to disappear.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
The fans know Oscar won the first fight, but was robbed by the judges, he tried to avenge his loss to Mosley, and got robbed again... So why not somebody like Winky or PBF, that would exciting.

Do you really think Tito will be in the HOF? Who has he beaten in their prime other than the absurdly overrated Vargas and the robbery against ODH? Whittaker and Comacho were past it, right?
Add to that that he didn't just lose, but was thoroughly dominated by Hopkins and Wright (and by ODH until ODH purposely surrendered the last four rounds), and I don't think you get HOF. At all.

You Forgot Reid, Oba Carr, Campas, M.Thiam, all of them where undefeated.

Thomas Daamsgard was undefeated. Beating him doesn't make Gatti HOF-worthy.

I would love to see ODLH avenge that mistake...I call it a mistake because I thought he had that fight won but made the mistake of not trying to win any of the last 3 rounds.....I think he would rectify that in a big way...no decision here....ODLH by KO in the 6th...

why should this fight ever happen again? Why would anyone want to see Trinidad again after Wright?

good observation
It does leave him vunerable to counters so its a good job he has a great chin

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
I want to see Tito back just because I love his style and it would be a great way for him and Oscar to go out and could you imagine what the crowd would be like, the atmosphere etc etc. Oscar also has more chance of going out on ahigh than if he were to fight Mayweather. Give Tito a few tune ups, lots of promos and there you have it,a super fight! I's looooove to see Oscar try to stand toe to toe with him and who knows...his last fight, wanting to go out on the biggest high possible, maybe his emotions would get the better of him and it would make for a much more exciting fight!
-
Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
I don't think that Tito needs another embarrassment on his record like the ones that Hopkins & Wright served up & he'd get one if he rematched Oscar...then again...he'd get fwockin paid out the ass...but money aint everything.
Tito can not handle an effective moving boxer.
Oscar beat him the first time out...Tito got a hell of a gift offa that fight even with Oscar running the last 3...he dominated him throughout the rest of the fight.
Give Tito a round or two in the middle of the fight & Oscar still wins.
No need for a rematch other than Oscar wanting to set the record straight there...but he'll never beat Mosley IWO...so again...no need for a rematch.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Tito at his best beat the best mover around - Pernell Whiticker .
Pernell wasnt at his best but neither was Tito against Wright or Hopkins

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Nope, when did felix trinidad or delahoya become a legend? ;D ;D Had these legends come along when duran leonard or hearns was around youd have never heard of em. But anyway oscar beat up on trindad all night he won but he lost, it was a disgrace the way he ran for the last 3, he still won but it was gay the way he fiinished I thought had he let his hands go around 6-7 he could have stopped tito. tito hits real hard has excellent power but his defense and his inability to be ble to adapt to a boxer limites him as a great, case in point duran had close to titos power but could also outbox you tito is 1 dimensional

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Avenge your losses/Solidify your wins against rivals. I think Sugar ray stated that some time ago. He did it against Duran and Tommy. I think Oscar-Tito II would create a more ecstatic atmosphere that the first one. Also his return bout with Mosley, though I don't think this will happen now that they are business associates.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
I have no interest in seeing Tito fight again. He's clearly past his prime--he was thoroughly embarrassed against Winky--and has no chance of winning this fight. He needs to stay retired this time, like he should have last time. And to the poster that suggested a few tune-ups for Tito first--there's no time for that if we're really talking about Oscar's last fight. In September.

Good point about the tune ups,I forgot about that but I still think this fight would be exciting and I don't see De La Hoya embaressing Tito like Winky did.

But do you think that Tito has a legitimate shot at actually winning this fight? Or: which fight do you think would be closer/more competitive-- ODH v. PBF or ODH v. Tito. I gotta think the ODH/PBF fight is closer--though I don't really see ODH winning, so that's a consideration for him too.

Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
most boxing fans know de la hoya won that fight anyway. if i was oscar i'd much rather chase another fight with mosley or hopkins to avenge one of those defeats. but i personally dont think he could win any of those fights.
-
Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
I think he might be able to take mosely now, but they've said it's never going to happen.
-
Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
Everyone knew Oscar won that fight hands down, but the way he behaved was kind of shameful. He wasn't even boxing, he was actually running around away from Trinidad. I understand that he won the fight up to the righth by a huge majority (or at least he should have) but damn, he basically cheated the fans who paid money for around 33% of the fight. I can understand taking a round or two off, but four-five rounds? It's just kind of ridiculous. If you didn't want to fight or at least box then he shouldn't have taken the fight. Even Roy Jones Jr in RJJ vs Tarver III didn't run, he didn't do much all fight, but he never ran. With all that said, I definitely want to see a rematch between Tito & ODLH. I think if Oscar is serious, he can outbox Trinidad, and possibly KO him late.
-
Re: Legend Vs Legend- Should there be a second De La Hoya vs Trinidad fight
I'm sorry, but Trinidad is a shot fighter. There is no point in him getting back in the ring. A victory for Oscar would prove nothing at this point.
