Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
It seemed this clown had a lot of support from folks in here. I was very surprised how many of you actually picked him to win this fight. Now he proved what I've been saying. He's just a big puncher with limited boxing skills.
Honestly, he should go back to 147. He was best there. But where are all you Mayorga supporters now? Come out, come out, whereever you are!!

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
here's one of them! :-\
to be fair oscar was fantastic, barely put a foot wrong, mayorga never had a chance to really get into the fight. all props to oscar for that one...
oscar's power was a big surprise for me, i didnt think he would be able to bully mayorga around as he did at times....

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
One CC for Miles, for being man enuff to stand behind you fallen fighter.
Now where the rest of you at?!!

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
I am a Mayorga fan, and I am still here. ;)
Just remember Mayorga is playing up to the crowd, selling the fight, living up to an image that a lot of boxing fans seemingly like now.
And it worked big time, this was a big, big, bout, and although that was in a large part down to the money machine that is Oscar de la Hoya; Mayorga lived up to his side of the bargain, creating mayhem pre fight.

clicked you back ;)
that 1st round knock down had me jumping out of my chair!!! couldnt believe what i was seeing....mayorga was truly man handled out there, and seemed as confused as anybody else at what was happening...
oscar is still a force, his lay off seems to have invigorated him!

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
So Britkid, youre saying that Mayorga was basically a hype man for the fight, and that did his job. Just selling tickets was his job? What about actually fighting to try and win the fight? Wasnt that his job, too?
Or, maybe you see it my way. He never had a shot to win the fight and DLH knew that which was why he chose him to fight in the first place.

If you do boxing for a profession, to pay your bills, your first priority is to make the most money you can.... Mayorga did that.
Then you need to find a way to win.... Mayorga was perhaps not so good at that! :P

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
at the end of the day mayorga fell way short of being able to stop oscar, but he did what he could with his chance...we shouldnt be too hard on mayorga for that....
delahoya was better than i thought he could be, for me thats why mayorga fell short of accomplishing what i thought he could do....

cc......imo most fighters are two faced in a way. what they are when selling fights never seems to be what they are in real life.plus thats just something mayorga does to get himself up for the fight imo. talk is talk but once they step into the ring imo they have respect for each other.
that was a great left by odlh in the first round. his money punch......

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
I neveer thought Oscar had that type of perfromance in him!!! I predicted UD for De La Hoya but I wanted Mayorga to win for obvious reasons however I was massively surprised to hear De La Hoya mention Margarito!!! ;D

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
CC for Britkid. You explained yurself well.

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
I really Under Rated Oscars Power. Could not believe that he hits harder then Trinidad.
I think that after that knockdown mayorga was scared of gettin hit because he was not the Relentless mayorga i know.
SO SO SO Sad, because i liked watchin his fights it was always worth the money, will now never see him again...

he seemed very reluctant to really let his hands go after that....he knew the reprisals could be costly....

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
Its a shame he got destroyed like that. He was such a villanous character, but likeable cuz he did have KO power. Now its gonna be tough to convince me to watch this guy fight a big name fighter again.

Im a Mayorga fan...how could you not be Win lose or draw thje guy is exciting...Im also a DLH fan...most of all I go with knowledge not feelings...just because you want your favorite fighter to win dosen't mean he will.....The only real thing about this fight that was a big draw is Mayorga being so un predictable...like a Tyson fight you watch just to see what he will do next....The outcome should have been fairly easy to guess

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
As my man Rocky Balboa would say....SHELL SHOCKED...SHELL SHOCKED!!!!!!!! ;D
-
Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
I'll admit...I'm a huge fan and still a huge fan of Mayorga. I knew his chances weren't good and I was thinking DLH would have Mayorga by the 8th round but I was still hoping Mayorga would catch DLH with a haymaker.
I think what surprises people most about DLH is that he has a pretty damn good chin! He took a pretty hard uppercut from Mayorga and it didn't even phase him.
Well it was dissappointing to say the least when you watch you a fighter you're rooting for getting man handled like that but it just wasn't meant to be.
Having said that, I'm still a fan of Mayorga and hope he does retire comfortably in Nicarauga and purse his other hobbie of drag racing his modded Honda prelude!
If I'm ever in Nicarauga, he'll be the first person I look up! I'll show up with some BBQ chicken and a 6 pack and I'm hopefully we can hang out!

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
I had a feeling this was going to be a mismatch, and that is why i was urging people who were thinking to put bets on to go with ODH...
-
Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
Yeah I admit I was one of those who picked Mayorga. Oh well I am now 2-13 in predicting. Last two I was write involved hasbeens trying to cloud people's eyes with visions of victories past. Oh well.

Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
Great fight that just goes to show that Oscar is still got. I think Oscar should fight a rematch with Tito and keep Floyd at bay.
-
Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
If Oscar did all this to him maybe Mayorga has no business at 154, just a thought.

Weren't you the same person who was saying this fight would be boring because Oscar would run? Now you're complaining about Mayorga not being their to fight? What other complaints do you have? There's no way in hell Mayorga was not trying to win the fight...the problem here is that you're an Oscar hater who underestimates all his power, speed, and boxing skills.
-
Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
I am a Mayorga fan. I didn't think he would win, but he did exactly what he I expected. He came to fight, no fear, no holding, giving and taking punches. I was suprised by ODH coming forward and trying to ko him.
Usually when we watch a pay per view only the guys watch and all the girls stay in the other room and talk. This fight EVERYONE was watching, cheering and it was fun. That's what Mayorga does, Oscar brings the interest and Mayorga put on a good show. It was great, and obviously Mayorga was overmatched and should stay at 147. He still a great entertainer.
-
Re: Where's all the Mayorga fans now?
ODH was impressive....most impressive.
Mayorga got in his best shots and Oscar kept going....man ODH was pissed!
PBF might be a little too quick for Oscar but I tell you he had best watch himself!
