Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
I just saw on espn that mayorga tested positive for a banned diuretic..which could cost him a share of his purse generated from the 875,000 PPV revenues...
What the hell? First vargas after he lost to Oscar...Now Ricardo?
what's up with these idiots before the oscar fights...

I don't know, it is a big coincidence that these trash talking bad boys have to use substances to win.
Or maybe not? ;) ... Maybe badboys and bullies always need to cheat to win.
But I betcha Oscar has the best scientist with state of the art and cutting edge technology to detect the latest strands of
banned substances on any of his opponents today. Thats why he can catch them while others can't. heheh That's what I'm
guessing off the top of my head. ;D

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
Financially it is worth it. They get caught fined a percentage of their purse, but still walk away with a million dollars more for fighting him. If they had fought somebody else they would have been paid 1 to 1.5 million less than what they got for fighting Oscar.

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
well the fight sould be ruled a NC, like it would in ANY other situaltion... but of corse since ODH is involved and the NSAC is the commission that decides ::**

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
oscar tested positive before the b-hop fight....and it won't be a no contest because mayorga lost..had he won then it would have been a no contest...

I would assume that since the cheater lost it doesnt really matter that he cheated.

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
If this is true, Mayorga has officially disgraced himself and his country. its going to be hard to recover from this.
but as for me, don't know about you guys, but as for me, i would give him another chance at redemption. he singlehandedly promoted this fight. a suspension and a fine would be just right.
I also hope that he holds a press conference and give the boxing world an apology.

He fought ODLH you dont need to promote much, just slap "Golden Boy" on it and you automatically have 500,000 buys.

up to now i can't believe mayorga would do something that stupid. now almost all his fights going back to forrest could be in question.

incorrect, it should be a NC on the grounds that the outcome was effected in some way by a banned substance

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance

ODH fighting Castellejo or Gatti is much different from ODH fighting Mosely or Mayorga.
ODH brings in money buy himself, but match him up with a fighter who is dangerous and has a following, and I can assure you that more money will come, than the standard ODH returns.

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance

how was the outcome affected? (other than mayorga maybe lasting longer than he would have otherwise)

because it may have slowed his reflexes..not all banned substances have a positive affect...even the ones that do have draw backs...i.e. steroid causing severe permanent shrinkage....

Oh yeah, I remember now. I think that's more reason to believe that Oscar knew that he was in for a beating and not looking to win that one. "BAD OSCAR!!!" ;D

Thats different. Because just like Roy Jones as far as the Richard Hall fight is concerned. Oscar tested positive in the pre fight drug test, and negative in the post fight drug test.

it's the same...taking a banned substance is what it is..and they said that it passed through his system rather quickly....

he shouldn't have chosen to use it then. if your proposal were the rule, then the incentive would be to use banned substances in every fight--either you win and maybe don't get caught, or you lose, cop to the fact that you used a banned substance, and then have the loss erased from your record. that's terrible policy.

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
All it was was something to make him urinate more, to help him make weight. Alcohol and coffee are mild diuretics aswell though I'm sure he took something more hardcore.

the story was oscar cut his hands while cutting the tape, and after consulting with NSAC they agreed to give him the banned substance as the effects of the substance would be out of OScar's system by fight night.

He wanted to come in the bigger man, thought it would give him an edge, just caused him to be slower and get winded easier unfortunately. Don't over react folks, many many great fighters take injections to lose weight like this.

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
I just think Oscar slipped something in his drink...so he could knock him out

Re: Mayorga tests positive for banned substance
come to think about it Mayorga's trainer slipped something into his mouth moments prior to them fighting, did anyone else notice it?
