Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
Mayweather says Oscar should fight Hatton
http://www.secondsout.com/USA/news.cfm?ccs=229&cs=19414
Oscar De La Hoya's trainer Floyd Mayweather Senior believes that 'the Golden Boy' should bow out against Ricky Hatton, not his son, Floyd Junior.
Floyd Junior seems to have shifted his focus from his natural rival Hatton to the Golden Boy - and a projected $20million pay day - in recent months.
However, his father and Oscar's trainer said that he'd much prefer either one to fight 'the Hitman' from England.
He told the BBC's Five Live show: "I can see both Little Floyd and Oscar fighting Hatton. Ricky Hatton and Floyd are two of the best fighters in the world and they have to fight."
And Mayweather reiterated that he has no desire to see his pupil and son collide in the ring.
He said: "I don't care who Oscar fights, as long as he isn't my son. As long as I have something to do with it, this won happen."
Sounds more & more like Oscar Floyd is going to be taken out of Floyd's hands. He'll be p!ssed as fwock over that one!

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
Oscar would be to big for Floyd aswell... he stands a good chance of winning at 154 and he knows it.
-
Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
if oscar can coax pbf up to 154 he beats him easy...i still think 147 is a stretch for pbf and oscar would beat him there too
-
Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
Being a fan of both fighters...I gotta disagree with you both.
Oscar really REALLY should pass on fighting Floyd. Oscar looked great against Mayorga...but I honestly believe that if anyone basis this past weekend on a possible confrontation with Floyd...you need to rethink things a bit.
Sure Oscar's gonna have more power...but Floyd is faster & he's slicker...two things that Mayorga was not.
I'd look for Mayweather Oscar to be similar to a repeat of the first fight with Mosley...or maybe even the second fight with Mosley...which I honestly think that Oscar won...but I just think Floyd is a better fighter than Mosley.
-
Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
You two could be wrong & I could be right or I could be wrong & you two could be right...I just think that this late in the game Oscar won't be able to fwock with someone that is faster & slicker than he was in his prime.

:coolclick: I'm gonna give you a cool click because I couldn't agree more with you on this wacko. I really think PBF would Oscar crazy trouble to slick and fast. I still want to see the fight thouhg. Do you think its pretty much a done deal or do you think Mayweather Sr. will sway Oscar from fighting his son?

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
Would Oscar even possibly just get another trainer to fight Floyd?? I really really doubt it. Pretty much that fight won't happen then. I think Oscar would beat Hatton, and really wonder whether Ricky will even wan't to take that fight.. It's his first fight at welterweight tomorrow against Collazo, next he wan'ts to go up against DLH? If Oscar could make 147 comfortably then he would come into the ring with an enormous size and power advantage over Ricky, and that would not be good considering how Hatton fights, imo.. He is almost made for DLH.

He could go back to emmaul stewart, but more than likely wont. That still doesn't mean the fight won't come off. And I really think Oscar would lure Tito out of retirement before he fought hatton.

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
Hatton is noy big enough stateside for an Oscar farewell fight in my opinion.I'm still not sure if this PBF fight will go ahead,I mean Oscar I though Oscar wanted to stick with Mayweather snior until the very end, that would be quite harsh to dump him for his last fight!

Now...here's the way I see it with Hatton vs Gatti...way too much experience with Oscar & way to easy a style for Oscar to handle.
Hatton wins this fight...he should call out Oscar.

There's no time for that. When is the potential Gatti fight? August at the earliest?

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
I think Dela Hoya should look for Margorito for his final fight, i think this is a perfect style for Dela Hoya and for me it would be a big beat down.
I think if he was to fight Hatton he will be a favourite for me bigger and better skills but lets remember what happened to KT, Dela Hoya i think doesnt really want to be in there with a guy like Hatton who comes forward for 3 minutes every round, with Dela Hoya's stamina problems in the past and his inactivity and also the fact 147 is defintly not his natural weight anymore, these factore could come back to haunt him. If Dela Hoya Hatton match up was made id make Dela Hoya a 2/5 favourite but if he didnt get Hatton out of there early, it could be intresting with the facts i have stated coming into play. This fight will not happen at any other weight than 147, 154 is to bigger step for Ricky, but if Hatton was offered the Dela Hoya fight at 147 i would honestly take it, it is high risk for his future but the rewards greatly outweigh the risks.

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
I agree with what your saying skel but I really don't see Oscar even trying to make a fight with Hatton, not because of the way Hatton fights but because like the game said he's not big enough stateside. Unless Hatton Beats Callozo and then takes out Gatti but I don't think Oscar wants to wait that long for another fight. Who knows though. I really want to see Oscar PBF but by the looks of things its probably not gonna happen, one can only hope though.

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
too right mayweather snr doesnt want his man oscar to fight his son. there's got to be some fucked up psychology behind it if he trains someone to beat up his own son. even if he doesnt speak to floyd jnr.

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
Yea it would be really hard, no matter how bad their relationship is... What if Oscar starts to really hurt Floyd, would his dad tell him exactly how to knock him out, finish him off? I would hate to be in that position certainly, and it would be a major distraction for DLH as well as he obviously respects Floyd sr.

Man I would love to see Hatton vs Gatti talk about a fwockin War the roof would come off theF%^king place with all the buzz...Gatti is the master warrior of our time VS a machine like Hatton what a Christmas present that would be

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
floyd won't be that fast or that strong at 154... hes already slowed down so much bulking up to 147...
i'd like to see PBF v ODL. i have a hunch that oscar could beat him, but it would be a tough fight for both of them, but it will toughest on the fans cause its gonna be boring as hell.

That is true I never really looked at it like that. I know personally if I had a son even if I didn't talk to him I still would want to see him get his ass handed to him. Now I'm not saying Oscar would do that but you never know in boxing.
-
Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
If FM and ODLH both want the fight it will happen coz in this game money talks and bullshit walks.
If Mayweather snr does not like it he will be looking for a new fighter to train.

hatton is also not big enough PHYSICALLY for oscar, who would school him & gradually break him down even easier than he did vargas!!

I agree 100%, Hatton's style is made for Oscar & INO it won't go 12 rounds

Re: Mayweather Sr says Oscar should fight Hatton not Lil Floyd.
In my opinion this entire trainer controversy is just garbage and a way for Oscar to make an excuse to get out of this fight. You constantly hear commentators and fans talk about how fighters at certain stages of their careers should know how to conduct themselves in the ring even if the trainer can't give proper advice, and that the fighter himself should know how to react. At this point in Oscar's career, a trainer is nothing more than a security blanket or a cheerleader, and any thought of needing a specific man in his corner is complete rubbish. Even for Mayweather... if this fight has to take place in Vegas, he doesn't NEED Roger. This is OSCAR vs FLOYD, not a tag team match with Roger and Floyd Sr. involved... so let's see who's really man enough and let's see who's needing an excuse to move on to something else.
