WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
Not only is this fight the biggest megafight in the new millenium so far in terms of $$$...HBO execs are projecting a $35 million purse ($22.5 for Oscar, $12.5 for Floyd)...
But in terms of legacy for either man, De La Hoya has the best chance of anyone at 147-154 of beating Mayweather and vice versa, Floyd has better chance against Oscar than Hatton, Margarito or any of the other lesser names!!
I know it was the limited Mayorga that Oscar beat down, but it was the WAY he broke him down that showed me, when he is highly motivated, De La Hoya is not that far from what he was at the top of his game (and probably hitting harder than EVER) so a matchup with Mayweather is a very winnable fight for Oscar right now...
Now if we can just get Floyd Sr to ease up...
Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
i wonder hwo much profit they can make paying the fighters that much

I dont think after Felix stunk out the place vs Winky+saw Oscar dispose of Mayorga easier than HE did, that Felix will ever fight Oscar again, even if he does make a comeback, which is unlikely anyway.
Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
THE REASON FMS WONT TRAIN ODH...
cuz he doesnt want PBF to make that money ;)

You are probably right, dogg! A month or 2 ago FMS wasnt talking all this "I cant train a man to knock out my own son"...He was saying "I dont think Oscar can handle PBF without a couple more fights first", then all of a sudden he changes to the family loyalty stance... ???
Personally, I think this may just be one of many "potential roadblocks" that work against the fight to allow for a long, slow buildup...kind of like Leonard's many "obstacles" and delays to build up the Hagler match that Leonard teased the public with for several years!
Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
Maragarito would more than likely beat them both because there is evidence that PDF and DLH are both afraid of him and battles are very dependent on one's mental state.
However, I would still love to see a DLH/PBF fight.

You underestimate both Oscar & Floyd if you honestly believe either is afraid of Antonio!! Margarito showed alot of promise from 2000-03, but he hit the wall against Daniel Santos & was exposed for his lack of boxing skills. Those wide, looping punches he wings at foes were ineffective vs Santos & would be easily avoided by both Oscar & Floyd. Tono would be tattoed all night by combinations from either. Floyd by clearcut decision...Oscar stops Tono in mid-to-late rounds!!
Plus Floyd-Oscar is $$$$$ huge megafight. Jim Lampley of HBO projects $35 million totalm ($22.5 Oscar, $12.5 Floyd). Oscar-Margarito would do about $20-25 million, Floyd-Antonio earns about $10 million ($8 million Floyd, $2 million Antonio).
Plus Oscar-Floyd is just the megafight boxing needs for a tremendous shot in the arm!!

I would pay to see this fight!!!!! I haven't payed for a PPV in years..I have went and watched it at restaurants and the likes but I would PAY for this one!!!!
Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
In buying out his contract from Arum, Mayweather Jr. nullified his Aug. 12 unification bout against WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, in which he was to be paid $8 million.

Since De la Hoya and Margarito often train in the mountains behind Los Angeles it was very convenient to get them sparring together but just as blatant injustice occurs among boxing’s refs, judges and announcers; it also occurs among trainers. I have seen this personally where the trainer is telling his pet boxer to punch! Punch! but then as soon you punch and hurt the pet back, the trainer gets all pissed off. This is exactly the kind of injustice that went on Oscar’s camp according to Maragarito.

Here is more evidence that PBF and ODLH are scared of Margarito

Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
Speaking of Oscars wish list in the URL above I see a big bias in boxrec's list below.
http://www.boxrec.com/ratings.php?di...20Middleweight
The first four fighters are all promoted by Oscar but Mosley definately does not deserve to be on the top of this list with the level of opposion he has been lak lusterly beating and what the heck is Ouma and Martinez doing above Karmazin when Karmazin literally beat he shat out of Ouma in their last fight?
It looks like more Don King skull duggery to me and Just when I had high hopes that Oscar was going to clean up boxing. I hope that I am wrong about the above but it sure looks like boxrec has been paid off.
Oh yeah and Margarito never hit a wall with Santos (weighed 175 pounds at fight) because he hurt Santos real bad and looked to be winning when the fights were stopped due to cutts.

Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
This is a big fight, but I'm starting to think that Floyd won't take the fight for less than 15 Million. If the pot is 35 Mil, there's no way Floyd is letting ODLH get 22 mil (65 percent) of that pot. I think money will be a problem in making the fight. Floyd's gonna say he's undefeated and P4P #1 and a PPV draw himself. He's gonna demand top dollar.

Avoiding Margarito in order to fight ODLH for over two years? HA HA HA
Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
I'll tell you why Floyd must fight Oscar. Because it's about time he fought someone that will knock him flat out. His mouth must be stopped. This charade must end.

You're not making any sense. Floyd hasn't been at 147 (where Margarito's spent his career) for even a year. ???
Re: WHY OSCAR-FLOYD IS A MUST FIGHT!!
Ok I was hyperbolising a bit but some of the articles I have been reading of PBF's fear of Margarito are a year old. It does not matter if Floyed was not at 147 for ODLH is not at 147 either but he will come down to fight PBF just as Margarito would have loved to two years ago.
