Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
I like him alot as a fighter, and think he is a great person to be in the sport as a fighter and as a person. I like everyone noticed his lack of defense, but there were a few other things I noticed that may be cause trouble for him.
1. He has a great chin, but we know he can get hurt which takes alot away from people being intimidated by his style.
2. I noticed when he moves in actually boxing he takes tiny steps and a fast footed person could elude him. Or he runs in and is open for the opponent to hit him comming in, and last but not least if he does to throw a leaping hook or cross he is severly off balance which is very dangerous against the guys he wants to fight (mayweather, ODLH even Cotto).
3. He does body/inside work with the best of them, but because he relies on leaning on the person he is just asking to be tied up everytime he comes in or he does the holding himself... I think he should watch Castillo vs. Corrales and realize that fighting on the inside isn't just about leaning on the person.
4. I noticed he could be a better outside boxer... maybe if he got Buddy or somebody he could be alot better on the outside. He doesn't need to get rid of his trainer, but a different point of view for how to fight would definitely help his chances against the best guys in the sports.
positive things I saw.
1. Could throw more punches if he didn't get tied up or did the tying himself, but he still has tremendous work rate.
2. He really gets power behind his hooks, and looks devastating to the body if he would have kept it up all night.
3. He has a fighter's heart which is as important as anything in the sport.
4. I believe he will make the most of what happened from the fight, and is smarter than most men who box, and will adapt better against the slick american boxers.
5. He has a the second best stamina I've seen out there still fighting.

Collazo's stamina was everybit as good as Hattons.....Remember it was hatton holding on at the end of the fight....

Collazo's stamina was everybit as good as Hattons.....Remember it was hatton holding on at the end of the fight....
Yea it was hatton who was holding on, but it was also hatton who was tossing this naturally bigger guy around like he was a Rag Doll....

Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
You dont understand what i mean.. I mean he was stronger then a guy who has been fighting at this weight for his whole career.
PBF hasnt fought a guy YET who has been a natural Welterweight, and he couldnt even knock out Glass CHin Judah....
-
Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
It doesn't matter who's bigger and or stronger. Even if Hatton was stronger it didn't stop Collazo from whoopin him did it ;D
-
Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
Collazo didnt do anything but loose his title....

at the end of the day i would have to say that wasnt much of a "whoopin"....a very close fight, but hatton edged it....
-
Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
I do wish Ricky would keep his hands up and increase his head movement significantly.
I thought Collazo showed good hand speed. Especially when he was throwing them in the air at the end of the fight to try to fool the judges. ;D
... and NEW WORLD CHAMPION...
get used to it boys, he's only just arrived, and he's only going to get better. ;)

Tell me about!!! the nerve of him holding the Mayweather family jewels from the low blow and the punch in the back of the head!!!!! He broke judah down and he was ready to be dropped in the 11th round Zab would have been on Queer street, a for gone conclusion thats why he blatantly hit Floyd below the belt!!!

Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
hatton won the fight but he didn't beat the fella in the sense of the word. he only just edged it. and collazo knew this was a hell of an opportunity for himself and boxed really well. i'd never seen him fight before but he was a lot better than i thought he would be.

agreed. hatton needs to work on his defence....and more movement when being menaced by an accurate jab is vital...

Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
Im sure hatton will get used to being a welterweight and change certain things in his style after last nights bout. Hats of to Collazo he was a good boxer, much better then i was expecting.

you obviously were not watching the fight...Collazo would push the brawler away...tattoo the brawlers face repeatedly....and then try to break free of the holding so he could repeat again....

Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
Oh really?
And tell me, how did that work when he was sitting on his backside looking up at the referee with a bemused look on his face. ;D ;D :D

Hhahaha yea....

Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
to be honest i think he will perform better against better opposistion as his best fight was agaisnt his best opponant so far (tszyu) he may have thought tht collazo was an easy fight and underestimated him i dunno but he does need to work on alot before getting back in the ring
-
Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
The main thing is STYLES MAKE FIGHTS!
Collazo was all wrong for Ricky but Ricky still pulled out the W. I think it was scored properly too.
Ricky would do MUCH better vs a Baldomir or Gatti type.
I still think he and Cotto need to fight, it would be AWESOME!!! I'm a Cotto fan but I would just love to see the fight no matter who won!!!

Hatton is down? 2 weight world champion and he's down? Taeth your not a hatton fan, you just say it to make your points seem more valid. It was an easy fight to score and the score was 115-112, Maybe collazo could have won the 3rd which makes it 114-113 to Hatton.
-
Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
I like Hatton, he reminds me of Basillio and Fullmer in his style and his face.
One thing I know is if I'm PBF (or to a far lesser extent Zab Judah) I lick my chops at the thought of fighting Hatton now.
If I'm Hatton I bring my hands up just a tad and punch more on the inside and shorten up those shots. I think Hatton and Collazo need to rematch but I really would rather see Hatton fight Baldomir or Gatti or Cotto or JLC

Lost twice to Juergen Braehmer who is now currently fighting at Super Middleweight and is 5ft 11" towering over the Hitman 5ft 5" / 5ft 6".

you're really trying to justify that kd/trip aren't you? windmill get your stuff together the first 20 seconds of the fight were an aberrition....Collazo took it to him from there...so tell me now...If a guy knocks some one down with his first punch but can't seal the deal with what was it like 250 more what was that first punch.....LUCKY.....Collazo won that fight....

That not the point even though I think hop won. The point is he said punchstats don't lie and that hatton landed more so he won? Well if that the case I guess Hop must of won too cause he outlanded taylor in both fights.
-
Re: Realistic look at Hatton as fan.
The punch caught Collazo offguard and it was a perfect knockdown punch, it didn't hurt Luis though.
Honestly I got tired of seeing Collazo look to the ref the whole fight...I mean Ricky did too little when in close but goddamn the ref ain't gonna save your ass...ask Jack Sharkey!

The point is Taylor won more rounds...sort of like how Hatton won more rounds. You're not helping your case by bringing up the punchstats
