Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
I'm not sure if this has been done before and forgive me if it has but how do you think this fight would have gone stateside? Would it have made a difference OR is Ricky's style just too much for Kostya?Or would the ref push Hatton back enough times for Tszyu to launch a bomb? I say this because Collazo had Hatton out on his feet because he was given the space and time,Hatton was not able to utilise the same tactics as he does in Macnhester, the ref did not allow it to the same degree.
I think it would be a much closer fight stateside, taking into account the timezone stuff which Tszyu suffered from too. I still think Hatton would win though, the style is the right one to beat Tszyu..bumrush him like Vince Phillips did.

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
I don't think even KT himself would try to suggest that the fight would be any different
-
Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
Aginst Kt Hatton use the jab alot more to get inside, he also didnt hold as much, against Collazo he was gasing pretty bad by the end probably due to the excess muscle, i dont think it would have been any different in the Us

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
No, that night was Ricky's night. I would have won that fight on the moon, in australia, in siberia, wherever.
-
Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
Ricky might still win but I think the fight would look different.
-
Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
I would rather see Hatton with someone else. And does anyone else think that Hatton going up in weight sooo much between fights is taking a toll on his body? If he keeps it up, I won't be surprised if he gets KOed by Collazo in a rematch...if there is one.

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
i dunno cos on that night in manchester ricky rose to the occasion and was buzzing off the crowd. he was possesed. it was electric in the pub i watched it in and i got a mate who went and said it was the same there. if hatton didnt have the home town advantage he wouldn't have been such an animal. but i could still see him wearing tszyu down.
-
Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
i could see the same result. it doesnt matter where ricky fights hes gonna get fanatical support. look how many come to see him in boston.

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
You all know my opinion, if tszyu went to ww then hed only get more powerful and with if the ref didnt let hatton hold then i think tszyu could knock him the fuck out!

A year on and you still can't accept it!!
Kosta Tszyu did not retire at the end of the 11th round becuase Ricky Hatton had "HELD" him too much ???
Whatever you think of the tactics (and I really don't see it has being theat rough of a fight) Ricky out fought him
To quote KT "Ricky was better than me in every way tonight" If he belives that (and HE should no) and doesn't need to make excuses why does anybody else ???
-
Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
Personally...I don't think that Kostya should come back.
He can't regain what little he had this late in the game, IWO.

Mate i dont have to accept it! Hatton fought dirty and thats the bottom line. Yes the holding did play a huge roll, hatton basically put all of his weight on kostya just to tire him out. If hattons such a great champion then why cant he fight without holding, why cant he fight without dirty tricks. Hatton won...ill accpet that but i wont accept how he did it!

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
I have a feeling history is going to forget Kostya 10 years from now much the same way as they have Alexis Arguello, in that his name never comes up when you mention the greats. It's mainly because the biggest win of his career was against Ray Mancini, and Mancini is only a good fighter, Alexis never beat a truly great fighter. Likewise, Kostya's biggest win was against Zab, and pretty much everyone under the sun has handed him his @ss, so Kostya has also never beaten a truly great fighter. I'm sorry to say but if Kostya retires, watch how fast he's forgotten about.

He wasn't tired at all against COllazo even in the 12th.

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
he was more hurt than tired, but he showed real heart in coming back to stand toe to toe with him despite almost getting knocked out.

Not hard to do. The only thing he's known for is knocking out Zab Judah who went on to be Undisputed Welterweight champ. that would have a major hold on Kostya(and a mystery to his greatness) eclipsed by the knockout of Mitchell after close to 2 years off. but quitting on the stool really hurt that.

Dominating a division for 7yrs doesnt do anything for him either does it ;D He will never be forgotten in aus or russia, what the rest of the world does...who cares. He was never a house hold name in america or anywhere else except russia and aus.

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
I think Hatton would have got KO since US referee will no let him(Hatton) Hold and hit at hte same time like the people in manchester let him do.

Re: Tszyu v Hatton in the US-opinions please?
lots of respect for ricky hatton for beating a champion like kostya quite easily, even though kostya is my fav boxer and im australian i think ricky hatton has one of those styles that would worry kostya again and even if the fight was in america ricky hatton would still have a great chance of victory.
