Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Mundine beat Green, a world operator, quite easily last night and I think that Mundine’s performance should put Kessler’s ditto into perspective. A semi-fit Kessler beat Mundine quite easily in his own backyard last year.
To me the above means that there are just two guys, who should fight to claim to be the best SMW; Calzaghe and Kessler.
By the way, I don’t want Kessler-Mundine II.
I hoped for Kessler-Green as I would like to watch Kessler against a big puncher to check out his chin. Hope that Lacy could come back and might face Kessler sometime.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
I'd go with only one guy, the undefeated unified champ.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
anthony mundine has improved so much since that fight,he will do the same to kessler what he did to green tonight.

That fight was the WBA Super Middleweight eliminator, Kess will pretty much have to match up with Mundine once again.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Azamir i havent seent the fight, but lets be honest who is Danny Green??? Come on Mundine is nothing special i have seen two of his fights and looking at Green's record is is hardly anything other than domestic level.

Yes, that is right, but I don’t think their next fight would separate from the first, so I would like Kess to fight a big PUNCHER like Lacy, Green or maybe Brahmer as I think we need to find out how Kessler's chin reacts to a big punch, and I don’t think he is possible to beat on points. I think that only a brawler with a big punch could beat him. Never on points.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
As a massive Green fan i was disappointed how 1 dimensional a fighter he looked tonight.
At least Green showed he had a extremely solid chin and massive heart.
I scored the fight 118-111 to Mundine by the way. Mundine was WAY too slick.
There has already been talk of a rematch in Perth, Danny Green's hometown later this year, but i fear the same outcome.
Mundine i feel has definitely improved, and Green is on a downward spiral in his career since the Eric Lucas fight in Canada.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
true kegs, people under estimate the skill of mundine,he will give kessler one heck of a fight.
lets not forget boxers like lennox lewis learnt from there losses and he always won his rematches.
we cant judge purely on one fight,if kessler wins again then he is clearly a better boxer but until then im not convinced.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Mundine tho was worth the money to watch his antics.
An absolute funny man in the ring.
He even made Roy Jones showboating look inferior compared to his.
-
Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
:D true mate,he can be quite funny on ocassions but unfortunely he doesnt have the same abilty as the great roy jones jr.

Yeah, he is some kind of a tool, but he can fight :-D

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
The way Mundine fought against Danny Green why not fight Calzaghe.
Hey might be a MASSIVE step up but his confidence would be sky high.
His sharpness would pose quite a different threat to Calzaghe, compared to Calzaghe's recent outing with power puncher Jeff Lacy.
I am by no means saying he would win, but with the right gameplan he could ask Calzaghe some serious questions.
Also a few Boxing websites reported that HBO offered Calzaghe the option of facing the winner of last nights fight.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
no disrespect to jeff lacy but he aint in the same class as the following

Come on :D - who else should a fighter in SMW fight than Mundine to get a bit of recognition other than the top kingpin, Calzaghe?

I very agree, but my point is that styles make fights. In my opinion Kessler would win against all SMWs (even Calzaghe) if we are talking points, but could he win against a hardhitting brawler like Lacy? That is my point. I have no doubt that Lacy would be beaten on points 120-108, but I would like to watch if Kessler was able to stand the pressure.
-
Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Totally agree man styles make fights.
I wouldn't mind Danny Green vs Jeff Lacy.
Massive punchers with solid chins. :o

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Wait, we're not talkin bout Allan Green are we? The guy who brutally KO'd Jaidon Codrington and was in trouble last time out on FNF? Differnt Green right?

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
I was looking forward to Green v Kessler but can't complain Mundine won me over $600 in handshake bets ;D hardest part now is remembering who they were!
-
Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
now I REALLY want to see this fight
-
Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
All last night's fight proved to me was how big a gulf in talent there is between Calzaghe and the fighters below.
Green was very one dimensional and almost gave up once realising that he wasn't going to win - Mundine fair enough has hand speed but nothing that'll match Joe's. Let's be fair Mundine's best performance to date is a lopsided loss to a (apparently) out of sorts Kessler.
I got caught up in the hype over here and expected a barnstormer, I sat there with my mates afterwards and we all had a feeling of disappointment.
Green's best days are behind him and he'll struggle to be a force at the world level again - Mundine will most likely win a belt, but it'll be off of Beyer and not Kessler or Calzaghe, even then I don't think Lacy is out of the picture and I see him beating both Mundine & Green.
-
Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Mundine is a tool, but he's a talented tool. I can't stand his public persona but credit is due. He's definitely worthy of another high profile world level fight after his performance against Green.
He'd beat Beyer as he handled Green much more easily. He's better than Froch and Manfredo,
who have been talked about as Calzaghe opponents and a lot of the seconds stringers Calzaghe has fought before.
Maybe he won't beat Kessler and Calzaghe but he's got as much chance as any other SM.

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspec
Kesslers getting beat!!!
Mundine is still improving. His fight vs Kessler was close, Mundine is better now and more experienced. I am confident in a Mundine victory!!!

Close? ???
It is hard to win a fight when you run for 12 rounds. Mundine might be better, but he can be sure that Kessler would be much better if the face again. Last time he had back problems and was not fully fit. I dont think that Mundine would ever be able to beat Kessler.

If kessler watches the green fight then he probably wont even fight mundine, he will see him as too risky. Kessler isnt going for the big fights, he doesnt want calzaghe or lacy....not even beyer. Instead hes fighting this typsko guy....who the fuck is he?

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
I agree Snakey, Kessler will want nothing to do with Mundine after that masterful performance last night. ;D

I seriously reckon...bring kessler back here (we judge fairly here...i dont trust denmark judges) and mundine will win. If he fights like that then he will win, that was a boxing lesson. He has improved heaps since the kessler fight...has kessler improved enough to beat mundine again? Ive seen kessler fight more then once and all you guys saying kessler was 60 percent fit can really go fuck off coz he looked fine to me and didnt look too different from his other fights. The only thing different was that he fought a contender...not a pretender. Mundine gave him a hard fight...injury or not, he had time to recover from that and he should stop bitching about that. You wanna prove you can do better then fight mundine again and see if you can knock him out...just dont expect to be going home with your title. Mundine beat a guy who is physically as tall as kessler and has more or the same amount of power as kessler and he made him look foolish. Bring on kessler and lets see how it turns out!

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Lacy needs a good solid couple fights before hitting up the big guns again.
-
Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
the new improved mundine will give mikkel kessller a boxing lesson just like he did danny green.
the only threat for mundine is joe calzghe.
-
Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
What a great fight Mundine Vs Calzaghe would be too. Two of the fastest punchers out there in SMW.
I can sit back have a keg and enjoy. :beerchug:

I'd love to see a Calzaghe-Kessler fight! And Kessler might want to avoid fighting Lacy...Lacy is going to make someone pay for the Calzaghe fight......

Re: Mundine’s effort against Green should put Kessler’s performance into perspective
Calzaghe Kessler sounds good to me. I think Mundine comes just short against Kessler though.
