Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
IMO, Hatton's style--rough 'n tumble--has historically worn fighters out alot earlier than the finesse boxers, and Im not just talkin about wearing out the opponents! At his age, he is in his prime, and Im saying he should go for the glory now, not unnecessarily try to fight for more US exposure----screw US exposure, Americans are friggin in the dark about things anyway. All real boxing fans already know Hatton, so he shouldn't dick around fighting rematches or potential spoilers like Zab Judah or Carlos Baldomir. If he can beat Mayweather he can beat him NOW, not when he's 30 or more.
I mean, his style will wear him out as much as it wears out the opponent; those kind of brawlers don't have the longevity, so he better fight Floyd within a year and a half or he's in deep scheisse.

Re: Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
hatton is a gusty gritty champion but no way he will ever beat mayweather dude.
speed/skills/strength/jab/punching power/size will be too much for ricky to handle.

Re: Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
Agreed, it's a good point. I think if you look at many rough and tumble, pressure fighters like Hatton they never have a long prime because they tend to get into quite a few wars.
Smokin' Joe Frazier, Jack Dempsey, Tyson (was around a long time, but only had a short prime really), Marciano, for example.
I know that there are probaby loads of people who will quote examples of the opposite (Duran?) but I agree that Hatton needs to fight the best NOW as he will not be at the top in 3 or four years because of his style.

Floyd aint the only guy out there, you are correct i think he knows it and his camp knows it he wont be doing much damage after 30, he has said he has 5 fights left all big showcases, but there is no point fighting Floyd now, especially after saturdays showing, its all about the benjimans, and Hatton cannot demand the sort of money which a floyd fight deserves, personally id go for Cotto right now, what a fight and look how HBO would market that fight, then the victor of that fight would move on to Floyd which would make the fight ten times bigger, Hatton calling out Castillo or Corrlaes is a great match up, but me personally want Cotto on November the 11th!!!

Agree with a lot of that m8, at the top level in hard fights I am not sure how long any fighter could maintain that level of intensity - but he's managed so far, so we'll have to see

yeah Cotto at light Welter would be the fight i'd want to see next, that would be a serious war!!
I'd also like to see him fight Gatti, two warriors slugging at each other :o

Hey Big H and X!!!!! whats up man???
hey what about a Welcome Back cool click???
Yeah it coulda been them damn Yanx after all. ;D
No bad feelings X, but I don't think Cotto is all that great as he's cracked up...gets hit way too much, has a suspect chin, Hatton would demolish him IMO.

Re: Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
Its true hattons style only gives him 2 more years in the sport so he needs to step it up as soon as.

I was only doing Rhyming. Snakey got away with it because I couldn't think of anything that rhymes with 'aussie'. :)
I don't think I said anything about Cotto, did I?

Re: Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
He couldn't beat Collazo, so how in th ehell will he beat PBF? Please someone give me the blueprint to beating Mayweather?
I really want to see him & Oscar go toe to toe! Hatton's style is a bad matchup for a top level technical fighter

Re: Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
Hatton knows his syle won't keep him around forever which is why he wants to fight for the next 2 years, most of the articles on him state this. I think he will fight Mayweather at the end of his career.,it was in the Daily Mirror newspapre if I remember correctly,he said Mayweather then retire.

Re: Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
Mr Northside, may i remind you that Mr Richard Hatton is now the
NEW WBA WORLD WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPION.
He is a two weight World Champion and he deserves a lot more credit than you are giving him.
Your posts about Ricky are monotonously boring and Churlish.
Yeah we know you hate the guy ok?? ::**
However many of us find his style and aggression a breath of fresh air, not to mention his UNDEFEATED 41-0 FIGHT RECORD.
Someone very famous once said, if you can't say anything nice... ;)
-
Re: Ricky Hatton needs to act fast.....like within 2 years or so
Floyd deserved the same credit but didn't get it until he rematched Castillo. And Hatton ain't gettin nun till he shows those fortitude ;)

Oh, no that's not me. I think there was PR guy on here who got really upset if you said anything about PR fighters.
I'm just a sheep shagger.
