Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves
I'm such a boxing fanatic that even this anime caught my eye(just finished the whole series). Anyway to those who are aware.
What punches from the characters in the game would be most/still effective.
Ippo:
Dempsey Roll = Quick weight shifting from left to right and after getting the speed needed throwing puches Simultaneously.
Gazelle Punch = Ducking so low and rising full force to hit the jaw.
Sendoh
Smash = From the anime, they mentioned that Shannon Briggs used to have this punch. Looks like and upper/hook or a hook/upper
Vorg
White Fang = An upper/chopping right combo. Throwing at such speed and accuracy; Opponent does not have time to react to the second punch.
Date
Corkscrew Heart Shot = Twisting the right arm and targeting the heart of the opponent. Dunno if the effect is true; but everytime he hits opponent is frozen for a couple of seconds and then follows up with a solid left hook
Miyata
Equalizing Blade = Looks like a simple counter; but this punch waits for a counter chance and comes forward head on avoiding the punch by a hair and throwing his full weight behind his punch.
Mashiba
Long Flickers = He is the tallest in the bunch and he uses Flicker jabs like a whip(is this possible) to stop opponents getting in and also used to set up his long Chopping right.
Anyone? Are there any fighters today that uses/can use these punches
Re: Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves
Forgot to mention:
Sanada
Hien/Flying Swallow = Using the left hand/off hand combination of jab then hook then jab again. varies to jab then upper then jab again with very little motion.
Returning Swallow = Consecutive uppercuts; The first one is an Ordinary upper targeting the jaw, the second one twists the wrist to allow to slip through the guard also targeting the jaw

So any comparisons or possibility that any of our boxers today can adapt these finishing/signature moves?

Most of them are based off of boxers finishing punches already.

I still like it even though they americanized it. I watch both the japanese and english dubbed versions, I like them both ;D
Re: Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves
it's called the Dempsey roll for a reason....and I have seen the gazelle punch many times...the heart punch if done properly has been known to cause your heart to skip a beat (not very good)....most of these were done in the 30's-60's....
Re: Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves
and the Equalizing Blade is the Anchor punch that Ali used to beat Liston in the rematch and that Jack Johnson used many times.

usually the japanese version owns all, they are soooo dramatic when it comes to animes ;D
especially the fight scenes
Re: Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves
I know
*SPOILERS*
When Naruto had to fight Gaara that was pretty dramatic and I want to see how American dubs that.
Re: Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves
glad i didn't see the american version then...... :o
By the way has it past the episode yet, where they find that out that Naruto was actually the son of the 4th Hokage who actually sacrificed his life to seal the Fox? (Spoilers, opps too late) 8)
Re: Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves

Thanks! But the bouts that I have seen with the hitman, I never seen him use it like that. True they both are the tallest in their divisions and have the distinct height advantage. But never like Mashiba does
Re: Hajime No Ippo; boxer's special moves
Cool CLicked everyone who gave their thoughts and infos. ;D
