Hatton chased out of welterweight division
Just read Hattons moving back down to 140 chased out by callazo OMG i cannot beleive it. That Hatton sure dont like to take any risks, which explains why he was brought along so carefully. what a shame i was looking forward to seeing him and Floyd mix it up.

Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
Fot the Hatton fans, make sure you don't try and compare Hatton and PBF ever again. PBF came across 4 divisions and whooped everyone, Hatton gets in a rough fight and goes back down.

Hatton chased out of welterweight division?
Appears to be. How does this affect his "Assault on America"?
Where's the storm?
-
Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
Hatton is a good fighter, Floyd is a great fighter.
-
Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
Hatton taking america by storm ? what a joke. Sad because he's such a genuinely nice guy but all this pressure is put upon him kinda sucks.
-
Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
he said he would fight floyd at WW if it was on
i guess he'll be fighting the likes of castillo and corrales next, which is not neccesarily a bad thing
-
Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
Hatton fighting Castillo or Corrales is huge IMO. I would like to see Floyd beat him, but I like Hatton, and I feel he stands a better chance against those guys. Plus, the styles of all three {plus Cotto}, makes for excellent fights.

Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
I didn't like what hatton said after the fight in the interview when he said he came up and fought a champion in his first fight and mayweather couldn't say that. Ha. This was rickys first move up. 147 was floyds third. When pbf moved up the first time from 130 to 135 he had problems in his fight with castillo(who was a real champ) but won. He didn't make any excuses. Some people thought he lost so he proved them wrong by beating him again in a rematch. People think hatton lost but he won't try to prove them wrong he'll just run back to 140. Mayweather can't say that.

I agree. But, I'll cut him some slack, because this was his first fight in the States, as well as his first move up. The fact remains though, that he will not beat Floyd, ever.

Yea, I know. But, It looks even less likely that Hatton could win now, and I was sure that Floyd would win before the Hatton-Collazo fight. Every fighter has less than stellar performances, but Floyd has gotten alot bigger, and stronger, and I doubt that Hatton would push him around like the Hatton fans think. And that would be Hattons best shot at winning. {roughing floyd up}

Yeah. Judah was a tougher opponent than Collazo for sure. BUT beating Castillo legit the second time, does not prove anyone wrong about the first fight. HE LOST THE FIRST CASTILLO FIGHT PERIOD. Because Ali later beat Fraizer does that mean he won the first fight too? I don't fukin think so.

Well i thought hatton lost but its in the record books as win so whether you thought floyd lost that first fight or not its a win. Bad analogy. Ali lost that fight without doubt and the record books show that too.

Handling that pressure is an important part of the equation for being the total package & some have the mental toughness needed for that more than others do!!

And PBF had no hesitancy for an immediate rematch to "avenge" that controversial win & did that in impressive fashion...I just dont see Hatton being made of the same stuff!!

Lost the fight my ass he did. Are you a qualified judge all of a sudden!
Collazo was a much tougher apponent than Judah. You were all just waiting and hoping he would get beat.
The only world class fighter PBF has ever fought is Castillo

Give him time, he is looking for the big fights. Sure he didn't look good against Collazo but he has the potential to beat them all (Maybe not PBF!). I don't want to go on about this but the Southpaw factor is a big one with Rick and he will look totally different in his next fight. Look for him to come back strong against whoever he takes on next, he might stop worrying about how he is percieved by the public and get back down to doing what he does best...fighting.

its just the same bullshit opinions over and over. i get bored of reading them and i get bored of replying and telling them about how much bull shit they are writing. chased out of the division my arse. he wants corrales or castillo which are two of the best quality opposition around. hatton has said from the start that he wants to fight the best and that he is gonna continue to fight at light welter and go up to welter if the right fights come along. the hatton haters will just keep finding something to winge about so me argueing hatton's defence is propbably just a waste of time.

Yes but there is no pressure when your fighing some bum in a 6 rounder in front of a handful of people, your right he has fought in th States before, but this was his first fight where people were actully watching and taking note.

Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
He's had one poor performance guys, in a new division and against a style particularly awkward for him. Personally I'm going to wait til his next couple of fights at welter before deciding he's not up to the task at the higher weight, after all I'm sure some people were ridiculing Mayweather after his first Castillo fight, but those people sure look stupid now.

Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
If Hatton's style doesn't suit the weight how exactly has he been chased out? its called a brain... ::** Had Collazo been a natural Light Welter like Ricky it would have been a different fight.... ::**
Ricky tried to move up in weight but the way he boxes and his body are making it hard for him so he's done the sensible thing and moved to the weight he is good at... how is that chased exactly? Would you PBF fan boys say Floyd was 'chased' out of a weight division to heavy for his style of boxing or would you give him props for stepping up to a challenge?
As for Ricky's 'storm' not coming... I always though there where American fighters at Light Welter? or is it a rule that Americans only fight at Welter weight? The fact is that Ricky Hatton is the best light Welter in the world at the moment...
I still give Ricky a big chance of beating Floyd... Floyd is no where near as strong at the weight as Collazo because he's a natural ligh weight/light Welter like Ricky which would make Ricky's style a lot more effective.
You guys know enough about boxing to know how hard moving up weights can be don't you? You've been in a ring and understand what it can be like? Instead if using Ricky struggling to move up and Floyd's style making it easy for him to move up.... to make Ricky look bad...
How about using Ricky struggling to move up to make Floy'ds achievments look good?
(stop hating on Ricky, he deserves as much respect as Floyd)

If you've been taken in by the media hype then you can't blame Hatton for that.

Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
i figured hatton wouldnt last long.....he got exposed early and now hes taking his gloves and going home.........i cant see him beating corrales and castillo would rough him up so crazy............but i do agree that those fights are better for him than pbf or delahoya each of whom would beat ricky in a profound fashion.....corrales is probably the most vulnerable but remember he has a huge heart and alot of power and is a alot taller and rangier than ricky

I dont really care for Ricky and his style but moving back down is not a bad thing,I have said it all along He is not ready for Floyd period!!!!Castillo and Corralles are no slouches by anymeans they are big players right now a win over either of those will give Ricky great experience and Legitimize him,and give him a little more on his resume than beating an over the hill Tzyu...Again I dont like Ricky at all but I dont see whyeveryone is in a hurry to see him get in the ring with Floyd????All you Hatton lovers and Haters need to be patient!!!!!!

It is nonsense. You should be able to think so far that of course Hatton and his advisers have not yet decided what to do in future so close to Hatton’s latest fight.

You did fail to mention in your post the part of the article that said "The Manchester Evening News reports that Hatton is moving back down to 140 pounds, unless a bout with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. can be made." I personally dont think Ricky is ready to face PBF and may never be but thats not the point, he has not been chased anywhere its all just speculation.
So in answer to your post I have a question.
What would be the better move for Ricky, dropping down to 140 to face Castillo/Coralles or staying at 147 to fight Urkal?
Nobody seems to mention that while Ricky and his team have the big say in who he fights as it stands at the moment HBO have the last word.

another overrated british fighter...what did you honestly expect? Collazo beat him...haton knows he received a gift from the judges and he's tucking tail and running...if he doesn't give Collazo a rematch than to hell with hatton and any of his fans....the only way he can save face at this point is to be a man and give Collazo his due shot....

Is it really that simple? His Style didn't fit WW or is it his skill. He moved up 1 class. Not 2 or 3. He can't handle 147 when the man walks around at 170 pounds that pathetic. Its saying that he can only beat guys smaller than him and he doesn't have the skill to compete with guys who are as big or bigger than him. I've seen great fighters move through multiple divisions but he can get through 1. Say what you want now but his plans were collazo,gatti/baldimor,and floyd. Those plans have suddenly changed. Why? Truth is collazo gave him all he can handle and he don't want no more. Hes leaving the division because that fight which leads me to say he was run out by collazo. And no he doesn't deserve the same respect as floyd. Floyd would give a rematch not run back to 140.

Did rivera ask for a rematch. Better yet did anyone even care about collazo or rivera before this fight? No because they were paper champs.Hatton is suppose to be lb4lb. Alot of people thought he lost and he need to correct that. Thats what great fighters do.

Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
Firstly can we get a few things straight. Americans know nothing about British fighters generally and Ricky Hatton in particular. Now i come to mention it they dont know much about anything. Please allow me to give an example. I play some internet poker, and questions i am often asked by them are: Do you celebrate xmas / easter over there? I have to explain to them that personally as an atheist, no i don't. " However all the religious freaks like you yanks do yeah " lmao Still i digress it was just an example of their mentality.
They had Lennox down as a chicken, useless, horrible, anything you like really but he just kept beating up everything they threw at him,so know they will tell anyone stupid enough to listen to them that Dempsey would have beaten him Ali Tyson, Liston and probably the janitor at M.S.G. This from a people that believe in spacemen.
That they can be so inherently STUPID as to question Ricky Hatton's courage is par for the course. They will conveniently forget that Mayweather would have sooner eaten his own arm than fought Kostya Tszyu and only took on Judah because the Russian knocked him down twice with the same shot.
Mayweathyer is the same as all the rest of his so called fighting family as soon as he meets someone that hits him on the chin he will go to sleep.

Given that Castillo is set to fight Cotto after the Coralles fight anyway, it's a moot point. Career-wise, I think his best fight is against the winner of Gatti/Baldomir--especially if Gatti manages to win. There's way more exposure there, he stays at 147 to "grow into the weight" a bit more, and public demand returns for a Floyd match, which frankly is not the PBF match I'd most want to see after Ricky's performance last week.
If Castillo beats Coralles, as I expect he will, then Ricky's what--going to (a) go down in weight to (b) call out Coralles after he's just lost again? That's not going to make him look great in anyone's eyes, especially considering that (c) Floyd beat the hell out of Coralles already, years ago, when he was far less shot.

This is a very ignorant post. We are talking about Hatton the fighter and your talkin about americans as a whole. Get a life.
I tried telling this fool the same thing in another thread that conviently dissapeared, to get off the racist nationalistic crap he is spewing, but Freddie boy dosent have a clue so I guess us Americans just find A rock to crawl under!!!!
Bet I could sway his opinions though with some Levi's Jeans and A good pair of Vintage Nike Jordans Give me your address LOL!!!!

Re: Hatton chased out of welterweight division
WRONG I am far from Anti-American i am anti ignorance, and you Americans do not bother to do your research on any foriegn fighters. You just bad mouth all foriegn opposition in any events, and try and convince everyone else of your imagined superiority. As for your Levi's they are so last year, much like yourselves really.
There are Americans on other threads calling young Hatton a gargoyle and a coward, but i dare say you think that is acceptable, and i suppose
when some of your fighters and fans insult Britain and British people thats fine too. Get real the days of you bullying the world are a sick joke.If you dont like the heat get out of the kitchen, all the insults on these sites to a complete gentleman like Ricky Hatton are coming from America. That is not my opinion it is a fact.
