I would like to know if any body is going to watch it, and if so who do you guys think is going to win. I hope Royce Gracie comes back from retirement and trashes Matt Hughes just to show he's still the man. But the UFC has evolved.

The UFC has evolved, but will that really matter against a master of submission like Royce? In his prime, he beat much bigger, stronger guys than Matt Hughes. I'm pulling for Royce. He's been the man since UFC 1.
I have seen Gracie and he is good, but whats the deal with him, has he just come back now?? Is this is first fight back in all these years if so i think he will loose like alot of guys have said the game has eveolved and i cant se him coming back and starting where he left off against a monster like Hughes.Quote:

He lost to Sakuraba the "Gracie Hunter" he hasn't really been the same since the second Shamrock fight. Also in this fight with Hughes they won't allw Gracie to wear his trademark Gi, so that puts Hughes at an advantage. Royce was great in his time but I think he was ruined by Shamrock in that rematch since he has never looked the same since.
He never LOST in a UFC match that he fought in. He lost in the UFC once by default because he couldn't advance due to the exhaustion from beating Kimo.
Gracie baby......Matt Hughes is going to be the smallest fighter he's ever fought in the UFC....and it's not like he had 4 fights in a row like old times....5 minute rounds will be a breeze for Gracie....He will not even be close to winded and I think Gracie makes Hughes tap out in the third rd....Quote:

Gracie lost by default when he couldn't go on to the next round after beating Kimo. And he lost to Sakuraba.
Starr, read my recent post on Hatton not giving Collazo a rematch. I gave you a CC for making a very good point.
I'm pullin for Gracie in this fight. His style has never been exciting but it has damn sure been effective. Like many others have said Hughes is small compared to most Gracie opponents, but like Gracie , he is very strong for his weight. Let's not paint Hughes as a bad guy or anything though. He is a humble and very good champion much like Gracie. Let the best man win I say. But I just hope the best man is Royce Gracie.
I am pulling royce Matts an animal and I Like the guy but rouyce was just incredible, cant see hughes beating a guy the siz eof dan sever who was himself a great wrestler, only thing concerns me is age, if they were the same age I wouldnt even consider hughes, not hughes bashing he is awesome and ubelivabley strong just gracie was truly incredible, i think hell submit hughes well see
Gracie has two disadvantages.
1: they won't let him use his gi
2: The stand up rule.
yeah those rules concern me, he choked many a fighter out with his gi, time limit hurts him and the stand up, I still think he can find away
As do I. He better watch it on the stand up though, Hughes can bang.Quote:

Royce training for Matt Hughes, plus interview

The Shamrock fight was a draw. Shamrock wanted it that way and created a stalemate, no way did he hurt Gracie or anything. And a repeat of the Shamrock vs Ortiz ass whippin is the worst case scenario here. I think Gracie can do it though.Quote:

I'm suprised to see Royce working on his standup in that video, but still it's just as suspected. Years ago when I saw him fight an unsanctioned mma bout, it was against some kung fu black belt. Of course Royce won, got him to the ground and worked his jujitsu but in the fight he threw alot of strikes, alot of ground/pound. One thing I noticed was no matter how hard he tried, his strikes weren't effective. His opponent wasn't attempting to block the shots, no need he was a feather puncher. I admit he looks better in that video above than he did back then, still not devistating though and he never will be. Some people just don't have standup ability, and if he tries to work those strikes against Hughes (who isn't a huge puncher himself but still better) it could be bad.
He won't. I expect him to try and get the fight to the ground as soon as possible.Quote:

This is a really confusing match, because Yoshida got his hands in Royce's neck in a really difficult angle... And Yoshida said to the referee that Gracie was out!!! And so the match ended... Royce said that did not tap, and it was true, but Yoshida was considered "winner"...
About the fight, I think that Royce is not good stand-up as Matt, but Royce master the techniques of submission, a lot more than Matt.
I have said this before, a "complete player" is the one who master the technique that he is supposed to. And Royce leaves no doubt about it.
I think that if Royce get Matt in his game, the match does not last 2 minutes. And so I want!!!! Royce is one of the most respected fighters in the world, but sometimes underestimated, because of his size and age.
Hey, man, how can I watch the fight?? Just by PPV^??
Fights out on youtube.com now, not bad, I'm upset, but both fighters put on a pretty good show.
Seems like I was right about it just being a Hughes showcase against a famous name just like Shamrock Ortiz.
::** what happened to great gracie..
thought matt was too "little" ::** loool man half you lot talk shit.. gracie has no chance against matt!! he's simply better then him in every aspect!! :lickish:
Hello no, he got lucky to get on top.
Rickson used to submit royce with one arm
I knew Hughes was going to win when they announced the fight. Royce is just too old, and hasn't evolved as other MMAers have.
However, I was scared for Matt when he decided to take it to the ground. I figured since Royce is the shit as submissions, Matt would want to keep it standing. I was proved wrong.
As I knew Matt was going to win, I was cheering for him as well. I was amazed at his dominance on the ground against a great Jiu Jitsu artist such as Royce. Once he got his back I knew it was over.
When they introduced Royce, they said his record was 11-0. I was a bit mad that they didn't include his loss to Sakuraba in Pride.
I think he also lost to a guy named Hidehiko Yoshida.
Well how can you be right when you predicted a Gracie win??Quote:
