Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
After seeing him get DESTROYED by klitchsko, i think byrd should drop to light heavy. He is a natural light heavy and it would be easy for him to drop weight. People say he doesnt have any power, but that is in the heavyweight division, im sure he would ko people in light heavy. I would like to see him fight tarver and woop his ass. I also think he could take out roy also, old or young roy. What do you guys think?

I think he could probably beat Tarver fairly easily and an old RJJ but I doubt he could beat a young RJJ, Jones was just way to skilled when he was younger. To be honest I think his best bet would be to move down to cruiser not light heavy. I would like to see hime fight Bell.

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
yea that would be a good idea. He has no chance to beat any of the superheavyweights.

at the age of 35....why so late though?

I agree with you miles, but by the way it sounded in the post fight interview he doesn't plan on retiring right now and the smartest move probably would be to go back to cruiser.

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
He aint gonna make 175 pounds - no chance, he could go down to Cruiser though

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
hed still have to drop alot of weight to get to cruiser---LHW is out of the question period...........at 35 for him to move down would be too tough on his body--look at the way it sapped RJJ

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
He's a very skilled boxer and could take shots off teh big guys quiet well, he would have been great at LH but I think at 35 its to late for him to get down and stay strong...

He must only be about 210 (?) so he should be able to get down to 200 for Crusier?

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
I definately agree with Big H. He can be that heavy and say he is 210 thats only 10 pounds to drop so I don't think it would be that difficult to get down to cruiser. Plus I think even at 35 he would give most of the guys at cruiser trouble.

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
yea he would, I think he never dropped down in weight is because he had a title. No one wanted to fight him before except klitscho, now without a title who would fight him. His style is to awkard for most fighters. I give him props cause he is a natural light heavy to cruiser fighting superheavys. And beating most of there ass. I say drop down get a couple of big money fights and retire.

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
He's talked about going down to cruiser, a fight for the title with O'neil Bell would be good IMO. I don't know how long he'd stay, if he'd retire after the fight win or lose or keep going.

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
This wouldn't be the first time a heavyweight champ tried cruiserweight. Leon Spinks tried it without much success. But Byrd has talent, Spinks didn't.

Yeah but didnt' Byrd use to be at cruiser years back? I might be mistaken though. If so I don't really see him having any trouble going back down.

When Byrd first started out he weighed 169 and was up to 204 by his fourth fight.

Really I had no idea about that. So I still don't see him having any trouble getting down to cruiser then. Come on its not like he's James Toney or something.

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
Chris said he wouldn't feel challenged by anyone if he went down to Cruiserweight and he doesn't want the easy route in a btalk interview.

I think Bell would give him a challenge maybe even Mormeck. I just don't see the point in Byrd staying in Heavyweight. He's not going to be that successful there anymore.

Re: Chris Byrd should drop to light heavyweight! IMO
He might be able to compete at cruiserweight, but he's too old to drop that much weight. Look what happened when Roy Jones went back down, he never was the same.

Yeah but Roy tried to do it way to fast. One fight he was at light heavy then the next heavy then back down to light. I think Byrd would have the samething happen to him. First he's been at Heavy for longass time and he's not dropping down to light heavy either were talking about cruiser which I really don't think is that much weight for him. How much did he weigh during th Wlad fight? Anyone know.
