Margarito finds an opponent?
Margarito vs. Mitchell on August 12?
By Scoop Malinowski
WBO Welterweight champ Antonio Margarito, perhaps the most feared man in all of boxing, may make his seventh title defense against former junior welterweight champ Sharmba Mitchell on August 12 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
If Margarito-Mitchell gets signed it would be a noteworthy development in the world of boxing. Because finally a marquee fighter with respectable name recognition will have stepped up to challenge Margarito.
respect to sharmba if this fight happens, he is at end of his career and could take small fights and make a dignified exit but does this fight do anything to raise margarito's stock if he wins.

This will do nothing for Margarito's stock if he wins. Shamba Mitchell is running on fumes, he has no gas left in the tank. And after taking major beatings by the likes of Kosta and Floyd I doubt if the public want's to see him get in the ring with Margarito. Mitchell is a fallen warrior who should call it quits.

I agree with you gbrandon definately, but theres no one else that really wants to fight Tony though and this guys is somewhat repitable.

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
Sharmba is the only gaitkeeper brave or desperate enough to do it.

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
if shamba couldn't kostya's punches at jr weltweight I don't know how he is going to take Tony's shots at welterweight

I don't think he will be able to take the shots. But if this is the only guy willing to step up and fight Tony then hell more props to him because it seems to me everyone else is avoiding him.

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
This is Margarito's fight to show he can stay in with a boxer. Depends which Sharmba shows up.

I agree with you 100% as far as Tony staying with a boxer. But to be honest I don't think it matters what Sharmba shows up, Tony is just way to much for him.
-
Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
Well they did the same thing for Hatton, see if he can stick with a boxer and use it to see if he would be good against Mayweather. Didn't turn out the way it was planned, so we'll see what margarito does.
-
Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
This is totally lopsided. I get that there's no one else available for Tony, but this still proves nothing--unless he loses and proves that he was severely overrated (but that won't happen with Sharmba). The fighter I'd really like to see against Tony, and who at this point would have more to gain than to lose, is Zab. Pity about the year's suspension--maybe they could do it in NJ, CA or CT.

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
Sharmba looked good in his last fight but I think Margarito's managers must have asked Colazzo and or Judah to step in the ring first.

You know what. After seeing the Hatton\Colazzo fight I would really like to see Tony fight Colazzo. I think a fight with Colazzo would be better for Tony as far being put in with a boxer. I still don't see Judah or Colazzo beating Tony though, both would give me trouble but I still see Tony beating them both.

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
Mitchell needs to retire, but there is always a small chance that Mitchell could possibly outbox him but it won't happen.

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
I am intrigued in this fight,it will get Tony a decent albeit beaten up name on his cv but better than fightin hungry, unproven guys that he gets no credit for crushing! I expect Margarito to KO him but I want to see Mitchell running for the whole fight, want him to test Margarito.
-
Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
i like this news, this should be a fun fight
-
Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
This is a toss up. If Margarito knocks him out quicker than Mayweather did then it's a good decision. If he decision or loses then it takes away all of Tony's credibility at 147.

Vert true, Mitchell standing and trading won't help him, he needs to box move and hold, a boring fight but a winning formula, but if he tries to stand in front like he did in his last fight Margarito will knock him out, not because he's a devastating puncher, but because you don't have to be to hurt mitchell

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
It just shows how much bitch Margarito has in him. When Mayweather-Mitchell was signed, Margarito said Mitchell was shot and that beating him would prove nothing. Now here he is, signing to fight him.

Like Antonio Tarver bashing Roy for wanting to fight Tyson(after Tyson knocked out Ettienne) but then calls out Tyson for his first heavyweight fight(After Tyson lost to McBride) and tries to justify it ???

No one is hardly interested in this fight and Margarito knows it but everybody has bills to pay.
You guys that put down Margarito are just trying to take the fear pressure off your pretty boys

That's why I think Zab should fight him--it's good for both of them if they win, and if they aren't going to get the good fights anyway (not that Zab deserves them, but he'd have an argument that he did if he beat Tony), what's to lose? Is Zab banned everywhere though? I think Sal said something about other states' commissions respecting/adopting NV's rulings (though that didn't stop Tyson from getting the Lewis fight in Tennessee or whatever, right?). I'm babbling here, but I'd like to see Zab/Margarito if Floyd's not going to fight Tony right now.

I think if Sharmba does not get on his bike,Tony will KO him and I would be MASSIVELY disappointed if Margarito did not win but then again,I can imagine a flat performance. He thought he was going to fight PBF,he gets sharmba Mitchell.

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
Sharmba is a good guy and a good boxer. The little shit looked pretty good in his last outing and I hope to see him give Margarito a run for his money. Margarito should be able to stop him, but what if Mitchell won? I mean what if?

Then,I would be upset but I'd use every excuse in the book!!

Re: Margarito finds an opponent?
Mitchell will now qualify for frequent flyer miles with his coming KO loss to Margarito.
