Even Though You'll Tell Me I Should, I havent Given Up On Roy Jones jr
Why is it impossible to believe an amazing man that Dazzeled us for years in a superhuman way can't pull it all together for a couple more great fights...I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt..I think Roy will overcome and Wipe any Tarnish off his Legacy..
I have been called crazy before but its not because of this LOL!!!

Re: Even Though You'll Tell Me I Should, I havent Given Up On Roy Jones jr
Well RJJ is a living legend, people say he ducked this guy and that guy, but i honestly belive he would of beat any of the so called duckers like Benn Eubank etc etc.
But i cant see him coming back, but he has had a nice rest and thats what he might of needed, but i cant see him beating any of the current elite, your Calzaghes Tarvers Taylors in around his weight. Id love to see Roy turn the skill and style on again but the way he has been KO'D, the mannor is what frightens me and i think it will happen again.

You know I'm kinda with you on this man. Jones use to be one of my fav fighters and to see him just go from being on top of the world one day to being at the bottom next just doesn't do if for me. Thats why I think I don't want to give up faith on him. Parts of me say just forget about it he's all done, but then another part of me says I think he can climb back to the top. I don't know.

I am posting this cause after watching Him in the Last Tarver fight he still looked fast and strong like the old Roy,but just a scared Roy I think he was content not to get Ko'd and survive it was a mental thing not a physical thing...Now I think he will put it all together..I think you will see a more agressive Roy in his next fight against Prince Nabu or whatever the hell is name is, a street sweeper fight is exactly what the doctor ordered for Roy!!

Re: Even Though You'll Tell Me I Should, I havent Given Up On Roy Jones jr
It's not like Wladimir where his problem is a glass mind, as Atlas put it. A glass mind can be worked on, anything mental can be overcome, Roy's is physical. There's no way Roy could have gone his whole career with the chin he has now, considering in the 11th round against Tarver a simple jab almost had him out on his feet (maybe it was a straight left - either way it wasn't a hard shot at all). Something about the way he takes punishment to the head is COMPLETELY different than 5 years ago, and his still superior handspeed/power is irrelevant because he's gunshy (and for good reasoning). I wish he'd retire and convince HBO to take him back as a commentator, it's not the same without him.

I think your absolutely right man. This is the kind of fight he needs to build his confidance back up so he isn't so gun shy like the third Tarver fight.

Again I hate to make excuses about Roy dropping all that weight and saying that is the only factor since I have no medical basis and am not qualified but what I have heard it takes a while to adjust to that kind of stress and trauma to your body(cause thts what it is) Roy has had a long break from the sport ...Maybe thats all he needed if he dosent beat this guy or if it is a close fight I will agree its time to call it quits but if he dazzles us and takes good shots then lets give him a little more of a break...
I am gonna look at this prince guys record and look and see if he is a big puncher

Exactly!
People can give him the benifit of the doubt, hope and pray all you want, but unfortunately the longer Roy fights on the more chance of him getting serious damage and the more likelihood you'll see him stretched comatose again.

The Prince Badi Ajamu has never been Knocked out or knocked down(as far as I read) and has
25w(14KO) 2L 1 Draw
Trained by his nemesis Trainer, Buddy McGirt

From what you just wrote kinda sounds like the fight Roy needs in a big way to make a statement that he's back. Hopefully the old Roy shows.

You know for as much as people say that Roy was afraid of a challenge, keep in mind that he didn't have to give Tarver the rematch, and he didn't have to fight the guy that just knocked him out or come back after 2 knockout losses against the main guy in the division who would give him style trouble, but he did

Re: Even Though You'll Tell Me I Should, I havent Given Up On Roy Jones jr

Just as they promote Pork as the other white meat it should be Roy Jones Jr, "The Other Evander Holyfield"

Thats the way I was with Holyfield after he lost to Lewis.......I didn't give up on him even though his light had been flickering for some time.
Then one night almost six years ago, I had my whole family sit with me to watch Holyfield fight a guy named John Ruiz and I was embarrassed at his performance in that fight. At the time I didn't know but his last brilliant performance was against Tyson in their first match up. I had been building him up for a long time and then poof, he was well past his prime. It was at that moment, that I realized that we had passed the point of no return.
I silently thanked this man for all of the great moments and then my attention shifted to a rising star named Wladimir Klitscko and his brother Vitali.
You'll find another icon bro.

Re: Even Though You'll Tell Me I Should, I havent Given Up On Roy Jones jr
Roy is different from Evander, Evander will lose to someone who shouldn't share the same ring and he will still want to fight on a high level. Roy is seeing where his level is at right now, since he's not world class yet again, he is trying lower class, and if he loses there he has no place. Smart move for Roy

but what I'm saying is that Evander was never the same and Roy probably won't be either. But not to worry, there will be another exciting fighter to watch

Re: Even Though You'll Tell Me I Should, I havent Given Up On Roy Jones jr
I want to see the old Roy, but he is gone. Evander competes and loses, but not as bad as Roy has. But, on the other hand, Evander's skills have left him, where as Roy, IMO, still has the speed and power to beat alot of people. Too bad he hasn't been able to take a punch. If he could go rounds without getting hit, he would still be champ. I'm scared to watch him take a punch now.

His physical and mental status is not what it once was. He lost the speed from weight fluctuation and it shows becasue a few years ago, he would have never have gotten caught with that big punch by Tarver. Also, psychologically, he has not gotten over the 2 KOS
I really like Roy but based on what I've seen lately, I can't get excited about this fight.
