That's a good roster...that reads like the who's who of namesake's.
The critisicm that Floyd recieves is just hate IWO.
Hatton has beaten Kostya...to most...that equates to "exceptional competition".
Then you got Maussa, Tackie, Phillips, & of late the questionable win over Collazo.
He's more like the next Ponchito BojadoQuote:

Wladimir Klitschko and Joe Calzaghe. Particularly Wlad. ::**
How is Joe hyped?
Just before his win over Jeff Lacy, most americans didn't even know his name.
Yes they did, hardcore fans anyhow. I had seen him fight well b4 Lacy even turned pro. I picked Lacy to beat him, but he did not. Since then Brits have had a real "I told you so" attitude about the guy and now think him unbeatable even at LH. Least thats how I take it.Quote:

I hate Tarver myself and hope B-hop will beat him. If he and Joe fought, less Joe was bein real real cocky, I'd be rooting for Joe. It just pisses me off a lil when I say Glen Johnson would be a tough competetive fight for Calzaghe, maybe just whip him, and I am laughed at and told Joe would beat him easily like he did Lacy, which is nonsense.Quote:

Hulk people dont laugh at you for thinking Johnson v Calzaghe would be quite competative but in reality Joes style matches up well with a slow come forward fighter like Johnson, look at the Woods fight for instance and for record i think he won both fights Johnson but they were very close and if you look at Woods since them fights his boxing has improved probably 50%, where Johnson is 37 and on the decline, i actully think Woods will beat Johnson and we wont see Calzaghe v Johnson, but i would be very confident in Calzaghe beating Johnson.
Joe C would KO Johnson. Simple! There isnt a super middle or Light Heavy on the planet that would beat Joe at the minute. clinton Woods would beat Johnson at this time in their careers and woods wouldnt stand a chance against Joe either IMO
To Answer the original question I have to ask another question: In terms of overhype, what day, month and year is it?
I mean the morning after a fight it is hype city. At various times I have in the past seen even Audley Harrison hyped as the next heavyweight king. Heck last week it was friggin Kobe Bryant getting hyped like heck (what basketball posts were doing in here I am not sure. WAS THAT GUY PARTYING WITH YOU WACKO????)
Hatton gets the most exposure, but Skel is right in aint hype!! IMO Hatton has timed his career just right and hence he is world champion and not sitting at home wondering why he took on too much too soon like Jeff Lacy is.
MAB and JCC both had many fights against mediocre opposition before stepping up and it worked ok for them. I think JCC had about 45 fights before fighting for a title!!
It's on his next 2 or 3 fights that he should and will be judged
EXCUSE ME?!?!Quote:

Going with Hatton on this one...The Hattonites fervor increased even after his fight with Collazo...i won't concede a Collazo loss so i'll stick with fight....the Hattonites built Hatton up after that....something tells me that when /if Hatton gets destroyed by PBF/Gatti/ODLH/Castillo/Corrales the Hattonites will still find ways to boast of his accomplishments....Quote:

James Toney should be mentioned too.
Not at all mate if he gets bashed i wont make no excuses, but he is hyped because in his first World Title fight he made one of the best 140lbs ever quit on his stool, why is that hype??? It aint hype it is reality people should be talking, he aint just hyped here though even over the pond with you guys he won every award going over there after that win, Ring fighter of the year Boxing writers fighter of the year the list goes on so it aint hype it's fact.Quote:

When I started this thread, by "hype" I meant who are people most passionate about.
I did not mean "over-hyped"
I still think that by my definition,
Hatton and PBF are the most defended and criticized on this forum.
PBF and Hatton is a good shout
Hatton fought TszyuQuote:

Yeah Wlad is currently a titlist. Those two guys you just named are former undisputed World Champions. There's a differnce. And yes Wlad is hyped, just like Vitali was hyped, Klitheads want to ignore his chin and stamina and pretend those problems are gone forever and that his power is unstoppable. His constant holding is also downplayed and ignored.Quote:

The first is Marco Antonio Berrara most people's number 3 in the world. He's been a fantastic champion for sure but he's no longer the force he was and will be ending his career within a year or so, unless he wants to end up like Morales. Right now there are probably 3 or 4 people capable of beating him.
The most overrated fighter on here without a doubt though is Winky Wright, I mean the man is just perfect in so many people's eyes.
Seriously apart from me, I've never heard nayone say a bad word about him.
I find it funny that in just a couple weeks time his title challenge will have failed, Jermain Taylor, one of the most underratted champs around will finally be undisputed and people will say that Winky was too small, too old whatever.
MARK MY WORDS!!!
why is that nonsense. make some good points to support your argument. just because you say its nonsense doesn't make it. rationalize itQuote:

Joe Calzaghe can't pop, how is he gonna hurt Johnson? Not to mention unlike Lacy, Glen has big fight expierence and would not freeze up or stop throwing punches. If anything he would punch with Calzaghe and most like hurt him the way I see it. Johnson has really come of age as of late and is a very difficult fighter to defeat, particularly for a smaller man like Joe who does not possess the power to hurt Glen IMO. Yeah I know Johnson fought at middle weight and what not, but now he is the bigger man, and has grown into LH quite nicely.Quote:

Lacy didn't stop throwing punches because of his inexperience its because he was battered and was using most of his conditioning to survive the fight, the same thing can happen to johnson when he is being pounded from every angle. If you say calzaghe can't pop then you need to see what lacy's face looked like after the fight. I for one don't want johnson to fight joe, I really like johnson he is the millenium's cinderella man but cinderella's magic has a time limit. same thing happened to James Braddock when he came across Joe Louis. even johnson knows this he said in his famous quote, " I am not the best, I am just a guy who is willing to fight the best".Quote:

Neither have a recognised belt but according to their supporters on here they are the most hard done by great fighters in the history of the game.
How anyone can support Ruiz is beyond me. He hits harder with his lawyers than with his gloves but most of all he hits the canvas hardest, just ask David Tua. ;D
Cotto is a real prospect but he hasn't stepped up to the top level and mixed it up with the big boys yet... when he does, IF he does, IF he wins I'll be happy to congratulate him but until he does the hype is way OTT compared to his achievements.
PBF and Hatton are going to cop a lot of hype. PBF is a world class boxer at three weight divisions? Hatton is a world class fighter/mauler at two weight divisions?
They both sound worthy of hype to me.
Calzghe would handle Johnson. Johnson went life and death with Clinton Woods who is a good honest fighter but not on Calzaghes level in my opinion. Calzaghe has a lot of KOs on his record. He has fairly good power. Easily enough to get Johson's respect. He has superior stamina and footspeed to Tarver as well.
Hatton,Vlad, PBF,Joe C,Tyson, etc. Hype comes and goes and depends on what day it is. The most hyped fighter on this forum, I like and hope he gets his day, but hasn't done anything like the guys mentioned before.
Antonio Margarito
Say what you want=he's avoided, he doesnt get exposure, yea, yea, yea. He's tough, and a good fighter that should get a shot, but ON THIS SITE, he is the most hyped fighter IMO.
I would say.............................Quote:

To whoever said Margarito, that is lame bro! Seriously,he has like a MAX of 5 supporters who alway get drowned out and just want to see him get a shot, that is not over hyping.
I agree that he deserves a shot. And I also think he could beat alot of the top fighters. Alot of people hate, and alot of people don't think he deserves a shot. I do. I also never said he was over-hyped. The question as I took it, was who is the most hyped fighter? Not over-hyped. All the fighters that have been mentioned on this thread has done something, and beat someone of signifigance. Has Tony? His four losses everyone tries to excuse, that's not hyping? Saying he deserves a shot is hyping the fighter, right? Saying he is the best ever would be overhyping, and I think that title goes to Joe C. I pull for Tony, and put him on the map just like you, but that IS hyping a fighter. Promoting that he deserves a shot, when he might not, is hyping a fighter. That's just my opinion.Quote:

I swear I can't belive some people.......
He calls out the winner (prior to the fight)
Date set
Venue set
Hotel room set
The winner was PBF he offers a VERY good amount of money and where is he......
He declind the offer, say something about that......
Everybodys so stuck on this whole PBF-ODLH shet!!! even if ODLH takes PBF....ODLH without Maywaether isn't ODLH complete.....It wouldn't be a smart thing for him to do.....I hope ODLH leaves PBF dressed and ready for the ball and then at the last minute he retires or something and that way PBF waisted even more time dodging Tony....
