I agree that he really needs a new corner; motivation, better skills and better tactics. It would be essential for Lacy to get better people around him

Maybe so, but Birmingham hasnt done a bad job with Winky! I think Lacy was not listening to anything against Calzaghe he went in there tried to bomb him out and didnt have a clue what to do with Calzaghes style.

Didn't sound like there was much instruction to listen to, but to be fair we way just not have heard exactly what was being said.

Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
I guess that the poll so far tells us that juiced Lacy will get wacked another time against Big Daddy Kessler ;D
-
Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
Lacy has a big heart so you never know, i hope he comes back stronger the more contenders for the title the better.

He has a big heart and a big punch, but unfortunately little defense and no boxing skills whatsoever. Joe didn't just beat him--he exposed him as being over-hyped and mediocre.

Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
lacy is quite handy but cant match it with the following at this stage of his career.
mikkel kessler
anthony mundine
joe calzaghe
-
Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
I think lacy would cane mundane, i saw the fight and green is a joke, although it seems lacy has lost his stomach for a fight, where the hell has he gone too?
-
Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
lol, ummm no mundine would beat him easily on points.

Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
Please stop that stupid lacymania - the first time it was wrong and now it is even more wrong.
You guys have to accept that Lacy has LOST every time he stepped up against a live opponent; in the amateurs as well as pros he was stopped by Ashira Evans and Brian Magee and the same every time he stepped up the pro ranks. Lacy is a defeater chick and should stay away from bigger fighters.
Lacy was rocked by Ross Thompson, Rubin Williams and Omar Sheika.
He was looking foolish against Calzaghe.
He would be stopped easily by the giant Kessler.
Munidne is 180 and the midget Jeff Lacy is 175 - he would be crused by Kessler no doubt

why do you care so much about lacy and how people percieve him?
lacy is a very solid super middleweight with only one loss to his name against the best the division has had to offer for the last decade....there is no shame in that....
until kessler actually gets in the ring and defeats someone in his prime or a top guy on the up then he himself should be a little less hyped by the likes of you....otherwise, you might end up with the egg on your face :-*

When Kessler took the title from Siaca, Siaca was WBA champ and no. 2 on the Ring's rankings. His age was 28 and prime. Kessler's first defence was against the Ring's no. 3 ABROAD and Mundine was just turned 30, so please do not ever tell me again that Kess had not fought prime top SMWs......

Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
Lacy is an overhyped America bum and Kessler is the second coming of Jesus Christ himself. Happy now Royal? This is only my 1 billionth reply on THE SAME TOPIC YOUVE MADE ON 20 OF YOUR OTHER NAMES.
-
Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
And I don't care what The Ring says. Siaca was not a world class contending fighter.

If Lacy is overhyped and mediocre then Calzaghe's victory means nothing.

Hmm, he beat Mundine away and had a higly disputed SD against Girad in France and also made two close fights in Mitchell's back yeard. One he was in front went he was stopped and on the other fight it became a split decision......

exaxtly, calzaghe's victory meant a lot....its easy to forget the attention lacy was getting prior to that fight...
and now he's automatically a bum!! absolute bollocks and i dont buy it!

And I was being sarcastic. I'm about a big of Lacy fan there is and I still think he is the second best fighter in the division.

I don't think he is overhyped or mediocre, I think he just took the fight a.) to early, b.) to lightly and c.) HE FROZE BIGTIME
Still got huge talent imo - just remains to be seen how mcuh his confidence has been damaged

i would go with a mixture of a) and c). i refuse to take any credit away from joe because i believe on that form he would have beaten lacy no matter if lacy was at his aggressive best...but the nature of the beatdown was surely also a consequence of lacy just not being able to turn it on quite as per unsual come fight night.....

Re: Could Lacy win a title-fight against Kessler
I personally like Lacy and think he needs a few more fights and learn to box a bit more- he has a good chin, good heart and a huge punch so theres potential there.

Lacy his a big punch, a solid chin and a load of heart. If he has a few warm up fights and boxes like it looked like he was developing to be able to he stands a very good chance.
He was never gonna beat Joe C. but his head was in the clouds and that was one of the things that lead to that beating.

True, Lacy never listene to his corner, Dan told Lacy "Jab step to the side and go with the uppercut when he bends from ducking your hook, feint the hook and go with the uppercut."
and what did Lacy do? (take 20 punches)(swing two hooks over Joe's head with no balance behind them)(watch Joe smile at you)(dont throw anything)(take 20 punches again)(adjust trunks)(take a pop shot)(round ends)(adjust trunks as you walk back to corner)(rinse repeat until you go down)
Which I'm sure Dan didn't tell him to do :)
