No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
Everyone knows Hopkins is my all time favorite...so I gotta ask:
No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
Hopkins looks big & he sounds determined...but can he do it?
Ofcourse I'd be biased if I said that I know he'll win...which in all truthitude...I don't know...but I want him to win...
but can he?
After seeing the Countdown...what do you think?
-
Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
Hopkins look more hungrier, motivated and he look big and in shape like always,IMO hopkins UD and going in the books like great champ and legend. Go B-HOP :)

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
I was expecting Hopkins training scenes reminiscent of the movie Kickboxer.

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
Seriously...I would love some serious thoughts on this matter people.
I hate the thoughts of Tarver beating my man...I mean...he already beat Jones Jr 3 times...yep 3 times...& that's distrubing enough...but I really don't want to see him KO the Nard...which I doubt...but beatin him is bad enough also.
Again...thoughts?

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think
I'm an X fan nowadays.
:thumb:
I feel like I 'get' him now, whereas I just took offense to his goofiness before. ;D
Besides, I hate Tarver & his skinny arms.

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
ive not seen the coutdown, this is a difficult fight for me because i dont want hopkins to go out on a loss, but at the same time im aware of the magnitude of the task at hand...
hopkins is gonna be 41. 41 for christsakes!!???! for a 41 year old pro fighter though you couldnt see anyone as in good a condition as hopkins.
hopkins is jumping up 2 divisions which is a lot and to be doing it against tarver is very risky. we dont know if hopkins will be ready for the power tarver can offer. heck, hopkins didnt want to be hit by taylor, so who knows how he will respond to the impact tarvers punching can make.
at the end of the day i will be supporting b hop because he's a fighter ive loved down the years. its a difficult fight but hopkins can win it. tarver himself is getting old and tarver hasnt been fighting all that regularly. jones jr last time out took tarver to the distance and even had tarver in trouble at one point in the fight. jones was a gun shy and past his best fighter that night. tarver cannot sustain a pace for 12 rounds. he does have stamina issues. so in terms of conditioning, even at the age of 41 hopkins has the edge. we mustnt forget that tarver also allowed himself to balloon to over 200 pounds for rocky 6. will having to come back down in a relatively short space of time be a detriment to tarver? possibly.
of course, hopkins himself cannot maintain a fast pace over 12 rounds. it took him several rounds to warm up both times against taylor. but by being slow on the draw he was able to make taylor pursue him and throw and miss. if b hop can do this for several rounds with tarver then tarver will definately tire. we all know that hopkins likes to make the championship rounds count. this is the crux of the fight for me. will hopkins be able to come on as he wishes without taking too much punishment from tarver? i think maybe he can....
a close and tricky fight, but hopkins can edge this....

My thoughts are to stop bein an idiot about the Jones fight Wacko. NO WAY IN HELL ROY JONES LOST THE FIRST FIGHT. I see B-hop winnin a UD as well. He is a smarter, better fighter than Tarver, and big mouth always fades in the championship rounds, thats why he lost the first fight with Jones.

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think
Sometimes a guy has another guy's #, right?
Forrest has Mosley's.
And the stupid Tarver has RJjr's.
Even though I hate both facts. >:mad

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
That means that Tarver would have trouble with any other style that's not Roy Jones Jr's.

Being a fan of the man...I'm comfy as fwock dealing with the fact that Tarver has Jones's number...he does...he always will.
I know it's hard for you to understand that...no...NO it shouldn't be...talk about being an idiot...you still think that fruitcake Mayorga's championship material. :-*

Take refuge in the fact taht Jones won da first fight, was gettin older and in his prime woulda mopped da floor with big mouth ass hole Tarver, and that Mayorga has got Forrest's number.

Don't play with me. :nono:
It just means that above his other perceived skills; he can beat Roy. Sometimes.

his style will give Roy trouble just as Forrests style gives Mosley trouble. Doesn't mean he'd beat Jones, just means it would always be a touch fight.. but only for the last 3 years of Jones career, anything before RJ takes Tarver.
Tarver makes it a habit of fighting people coming off of 2 losses.

Amazing that of the four (Tarver Jones Hopkins and Johnson) that its only Tarver and Hopkins who haven't fought each other.

I'm not trying to piss ya off...but I just want your honest opinion there.
See...I love RJJ...not as much as I love Bernard...& I think that they are both done deals.
I think that RJJ lost the first fight to Tarver also. You?

Roy won the first fight with Tarver and the second he won by close decision Roy won those rounds its just that it was so unusual to see him get hit that you'd thinkg Tarver won them, there's no doubt about that. Tarver won the third and fourth fight.

I agree.
Dude's best work in the ring is done.
He should stay right outside the ring & tell us his opinion on WTF is going on with a mic strapped to his head.
I can't think of anyone else who is intelligent & up to date enough about what is going on inside the ropes today.
I also nominate Michael Tyson for a mic. ;)

I refuse to even fwockin address that...ahhhhhhhhhhhhh shat...
I guess I just did. ;D

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
The RJJ that Tarver was beating was a fast-fading RJJ.
Hopkins may not be at the top of his game but he's not near as far down the other side of the hill as RJJ. Admittedly he "lost" two fights to Taylor (drew one and lost one closely, actually) and that was not the experience RJJ was having when he was losing. He was looking at the ceiling without having to crane his neck.
So - the fact that Tarver did well by RJJ doesn't mean a whole lot here. What is more to the point here is that Hopkins is, for the first time in a couple decades, stepping out from his accustomed fighting weight. He'll be fighting someone who has been a bigger fighter.
He'll get hit harder; that power will tax him more; his normal start-slow, shine-late approach may not fare well against a power-sapping attack from a bigger fighter. Yes Hopkins has good defense but that has been against folks smaller than Tarver. Will it hold here?
Go Hopkins! He's got the skill, but if he lost as he did to Taylor at his native 160, it is difficult to be confident of the outcome here.
I don't think he had to lose to Taylor, either time. Hopefully he has a different kind of hunger going for him this time out. That would certainly be a factor. Would be nice to watch him put on a punishing clinic and go out with a dazzling victory!

Fwock what dey fink!!!
I'll throw Steelie out on 'em immediately!
Nothing wrong with facing reality though as far as our favorite fighters go.
I'd love to see Hopkins pull it out & just humiliate Tarver...but in the end...as much as I despise Tarver...he's the naturally bigger man, he's younger, & he's naturally most likely going to win.
I honestly don't want to see the outcome of the RJJ vs Badi Ajamu fight.

Umm...what? Roy winning the second? Tarver winning third and fourth? Fourth? They only had 3 fights and I think Tarver won 2 of them. The first I had Jones barely winning.

Re: No more bullshat...after seeing Countdown to Tarver Hopkins...whaddaya think?
I'm not sure if Hop can do it,I mean he should and could have beaten Taylor, the difference here is it is a move up in weight and how will he cope with the power? I soooooo want B-Hop to win but if he does not,can you imagine how big Tarver's mouth will be then? Soemone needs to knock him out! To be honest,Cotto's fight is on at the same time right and I think that fight will be much much more exciting than this one.
