Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
Pretty boring sparring session, Kessler doesn't really do anything but jab, although he is a fairly methodical and boring fighter usually.. I dont know how you see it as Soliman taking him to school though, Kessler was backing him up with everything and constantly walking forward, theres no contest in terms of who's punches have impact.. Soliman is just akward and I don't even know how he stays on his feet sometimes... Seems he REALLY gets around in sparring circuits though, I can definetly see why as well, he'll make anyone work. Other fighters respect him and he probably makes good money doing it.

Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
I see Sam landing some good shots, nothing out of the ordinary....Kessler looked damn slow and baffled by the jabs though
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
The ovewhelming size different is what got me.. Sam looked like he was landing some good shots and doing what he does best giving different angles and looks which had Kessler confused on what to throw and when..
Again sparring session only I understand!! but Kessler is hyped Like Ivan Drago and looked ordinary against a smaller Middleweight in Soliman at least while sparring
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
I have said it before, Kessler hasn't fought anyone decent...other than a 50 year old Eric Lucas (whom he TKO'd in the fucking 10th round!!!)
How did RJJ do against Eric after that basketball game again???

Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
But I definitely wouldn't say he took him to school. He gave him fits, yes, but he didn't land much. Though Kess did look uncomfortable but that is because of Sam's style. But like I have always said, Kessler doesn't fight good when he is being charged straight ahead and that is when Soliman had sucess against him. He definitely didn't give him hell though ::**

Thanks for posting the clip.
It's pointless to even try to have an intelligent conversation with azumir...he is someone who is often best avoided & ignored because he will once again be banned & come back under some other name with the same ignorant opinions.
Ignore him, he's only pushing buttons.

Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
Cause Kessler tries to block everything with his arms, he leaves an opening whenever he does, you beat Kessler with rhythm ;)

You also clock him right after he hooks because he often stops to admire his work.
I like Kess...but he does have a few inadequacies.
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
Then why doesn't any Kessler fan think that Mundine could beat him in a rematch ::**
Anytime Mundine threw his left hook Kessler would drop his front hand and Mundine would clock him with a right, Kessler still has that opening and Mundine has gotten better. Really see Lucas as a step backwards compared to Mundine so of course Kessler is gonna look like he improved when he didnt ;)

The thing is this...Mundine is always going to fall just a bit short when it comes to Kessler because (fast or not) Kessler has already had a taste of Mundine & if that injured story was true...a full Kess will have little to no issues with him.
Also...Mundine never really hurt Kess...sure he hit him...but he didn't have anything that inflicted much damage or instilled any fear.
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
He still got clean shots off and hit Kessler with clean shots and it doesn't matter if he instilled fear or not, a braver Kessler would only mean Mundine would counter him more ;)
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
May be just sparring but Kessler looks pretty crappy.

He dominated him last time I checked. 8) Soliman can give anybody problems, he was a real handful for the "unbeatable" Winky Wright even.

Yes, Wiseman Wacko….one better agrees with you else his opinion is stupid or wrong…. – and yes Kessler is so damn hittable as you try to hint – I guess that is because of his poor defence, bad footwork and slow hands. That might also be the reason that he has lost so many rounds in his entire campaign as amateur/pro and that he had taken so many counts and knock downs, not to talk about his marked face…….

Lyle, that must be one of your dumbest post ever…..
Do you really think that Kessler has not fought a decent opponent? If you don’t consider Mundine as a decent opponent (The Ring’s #3), then there is only Calzaghe left in the SMW division to get a decent opponent?.....
Only one decent opponent in SMW? I guess not. If you take on a top 10 SMW, then you fight a decent opponent IMO.
By the way RJJ went 12 rounds against Lucas. It was a TKO12.
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
He was hitting Kessler at will. Kessler's jab isn't bad but even for sparring his defence was piss poor. He was almost hit at will.

Let me drop some knowledge right here and now!
The majority of guys fighting at 168 are there because they...
1) Couldn't cut it at 160
2) Couldn't cut it at 175
3) Are starting out light to work up to 175
4) Are finishing heavy after careers at 154-160
(the point is that 168 is usually a stepping stone to somewhere else very few guys like Calzaghe, Toney, and Eubank stay there for long periods of time cementing their legacies)
Mundine? NO Mundine isn't a "class opponent" he was knocked out by Svenn Fuckin Ottke!!!!
Kessler hasn't fought ANYONE! RJJ dominated Lucas after a basketball game and that was 10 fuckin years ago and Lucas still wasn't anything to write home about!
As I have said before call me when Kessler's opponents are better than Valuev's!
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
I really want to see Calzaghe-Kessler.
I think Calzaghe would overhealm Kessler with his flurry combinations.
-
Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
I think there are a ton of guys who can beat Kessler

Okay Lyle, pleas just name five of them so I can return to you and make you look stupid within a year. Please just name five of them.......now!

Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
Calzaghe, Taylor, Dawson, Lacy (yeah that's right), and Pavlik.....you probably want some more though don't you...that was too easy.
Johnson, Miranda, Abraham, Curtis Stevens, John Duddy
I just don't see what the fuss is about...he's slow, he's predictible...his punching power should be questioned and his chin chould also be questioned because he hasn't fought another power puncher

Re: Only a Sparring Session, but Soliman is Taking Kessler to School
Thank you, cc back
I am all for fans but as a fan you have to understand what areas your favorite fighter has or has not been tested in. For example Lacy-Calzaghe, Jeff had never fought a guy that could box and had power, he had never really had his chin checked (though most believed it was good enough), his power was questionable but no one brought it up due to his physique and style of fighting, he never had his heart tested (though in my book he passed with flying colors due to the Calzaghe fight), he hadn't fought a quality opponent because there are so few in 168, and he never had to go to Plan B vs anyone, and vs Calzaghe he had no Plan B...so Calzaghe exposed Jeff as being too green and onesided for the tip top of the division, it's not a bad thing but that's what happens in boxing, Jeff Lacy has hopefully learned a valueable lesson and will come back smarter and stronger
