El "Temible" Castillo no cumplió con el peso pactado para enfrentar al "Chico" Corrales y por lo tanto se canceló la contienda por el fajín ligero del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo en la Arena del Thomas and Mack Center de Las Vegas.

Temoaya, Méx., (02 Junio 2006).- El boxeador mexicano José Luis Castillo no cumplió con el peso pactado para su pelea de campeonato mundial y por lo tanto sucede la última polémica del boxeo mundial.

El "Temible" Castillo angustiado por su falla decidió no hablar con la prensa estadounidense per sí compartió los siguientes comentarios con la prensa mexicana:

"Pues, lamento mucho no haber hecho el peso pactado. No fue intencional pero todo el mundo sabe que es increíblemente difícil para mi rebajar a las 135 libras."

If this story is true, than all is forgivin with Castillo.  The blame needs to be placed were it belongs.  On the shoulders of that conniving broad who took advantage of Mr. Castillo when he was at his weakest.  Weight drained and weak.  :thumb:

The good thing about being a heavyweight is that beer and fast food can't put me over the max weight, but then again, i'm not a pro boxer, which is what he purports to be.

It never said it was the "day before the weigh in" - it said the "this week". I do believe that he lacked the necessary discipline and easily could have fallen off a keg into the bermuda triangle.

It's vegas baby. He probably flew in on Monday and thought he could get a little trim in before the big night.

I absolutely believe this could be true. This is twice now. I don't think that he believed that he could beat Corralles on the up and up. He tried to juice the scales last time he couldn't make weight and I think he was hoping Chico would take the fight again in spite of the pounds and would have the edge once again.

People won't always remember the extra weight - but they see teh KO on the record.

Am I excusing what Castillo did, or am I saying don't judge like he planned to come in overweight from day one?

Surely he intended, when he signed, to make weight.

But he should have been forthcoming about weight difficulties before the weigh-in. Disappointing in many ways.

Without question, whether he would have won or lost the fight with Coralles, Castillo will be the man at 140. 3 fo 4 belts are wide open, and there is no one at 140 who can withstand his war.

His problem now is that he has dug a grave, jumped in, and already put half of the dirt back in. Even if he does great from here on, what he does will be closely controlled and monitored by others. Too bad. He really could have matched JCC's shine in the long haul. And after 60+ fights...

Why the hell would hatton or cotto fight him? He's shown himself to be unreliable, costing Castillo a bundle of money, and unless he puts his money where his mouth is, I wouldn't fight him if I was them, cause he's a loose cannon, and has shown no compunctions about reneging on his contract and failing to make the weight for the fight.
