Virgil Hill and Montell Griffin. Griffin particualry was a trickly lil bastard to fight. Just ask James Toney and to an extent Roy Jones in their first fight.
If your going on pure skill. I would say Mark Breland and Donald Curry were two of the most skilled fighters of recent time. Breland just didn't have a chin, while Curry lacked discipline.
Muhammad Ali, Roy Jones Jr., Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, James Toney...
Floyd Mayweather, Bernard Hopkins, Oscar De La Hoya, Winky Wright, Pernell Whitaker, Thomas Hearns, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Riddick Bowe, Evander Holyfield.
Going back though the era's; Charley Burley, Willie Pep, Benny Leonard, Young Griffo was meant to be a phenomenon, Maxie Rosenbloom, Ezzard Charles, Gene Tunney, Eder Jofre and of course Ray Robinson...
Jeff Lacy, Frank Bruno, Ricky Hatton, Diego Corrales ;D ;D

That came from a person who said Mayorga would KO DLH, don't take him too serious :)
don't forget Meldric Taylor....Quote:

I would have to disagree, IMO Charley Burley was finest defensive fighter. Although not as elusive as Whitaker, Burley was better than Sweet Pea, for parrying/blocking punches, and had greater ring generalship, thus was more skilled... ;)Quote:

Actually that would be a great thread. Britkid you should start a threat with this question and also add a pole, it would be close but I am anxious to read what people have to write on the subject.
Thought you guys wanted choices that weren't so obvious. Any fukin idiot can say Ali, SRR, SRL, ODH, Tyson etc. But Montel Griffin is very underated. He beat James Toney when he had less than 20 fights under his belt and stole rounds from a PRIME Roy Jones. So yeah, he was very skilled, you are just being snobbish bitches. :-*Quote:

I like brits top 3 Willie was Magic I can watch him till the cows come home, and have. Charley is my darlin, the tales Ive heard about this guy amazing and from legands themselves only seen 1 vidio but know where they are coming from. Heard and read about Benny before I saw the only tape of him losing after 10 years out.Its the only time in my life watching a fighter for the first time that after watching it,Ive ever felt cheated at not seeing him live. I just sighed and said Fucking Hell.
I think he was a great boxer but he wanted to brawl too much and it ruined himQuote:

Young Griffo had more draw than most boxers have fights. He never fought anyone of note either. his record was built off of guys with hardly any, if any , fights. But your right that he was meant to be a phenomenon. Other than him great list. Many people forget Maxie Rosenbloom. He couldnt punch, but didnt need to. He was that giftedQuote:
