Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
i would like to see tyson unleash his venom on todays heavyweights....just to see exactly how he beats them all....
SRL: PBF would be fun as well....
SRR would be an intriguing one to watch....you never know how yesterdays fighters could or would fare against todays crop....

I am a Tyson Fan as well but I wanted to put a different flavor into this post...But rightfully so on Tysons appeal, again turn back the clock adjust his outside life and how he was managed in and out of the ring and you would have the greatest of all time and he would still be champ...I say it all the time. He still has it Physically but he has no heart his will to fight and take punishment is not there anymore

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
I'd put Hopkins back at 34 ;)

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is
Pernell Whittaker or Salvador Sanchez.
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is
Ray Robinson would be a great choice, and I'd love to Thomas Hearns sweep through the welter weight divisions again.
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Riddick Bowe and hope he doesnt eat Yokozuna this time.

finally...this is the truest post yet...it wasn't that tyson "lost"hi abilities...he got rid of everyone that cared for him and that had a positive influence on his life......get it back to his original corner/trainers befroie he got rid of them and there would have been no Lewis, Holyfield,JFAT, ruiz, rahman, valuev, brewster, Wlad, liakovich etc...just TYSON.....

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Id like to bring Hagler, SRL, Hearns and Duran into the modern crop.
LaMotta and SRR into Middles also Marciano, Louis and Prime Tyson into todays heavies.

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Tyson or Hamed. Both for the same reason, they could have been more than they were if their outside the ring management had been betterl. Don't know how much chance anybody would have had with either of them specially Hamed tho
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
A lot of the fighters already mentioned (Whitaker in particular) and Michael Nunn.
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
I pretty much agree with Starr, or Purist, or SSSP...whatever tag line...I agree with the statement.
Hopkins.
Personally...I'd love to see good ole' unrefined & brutal Hopkins brought back from 1990.

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Now that I've thought about it more, I forgot Ike Ibeabuchi!
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Has to be Pernell Whitaker, he never lost in his prime even though the judges robbed him of three victories (Ramirez,De La Hoya,Chavez). The Trinidad fight came after he was far beyond his prime and having drug problems. Nobody could beat a prime Whitaker, I would have loved to see him fight a Sugar Ray Leonard. He is a top 5 fighter of all time IMO.

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Marvin hagler vs jake lamotta
and PBF vs SSR at welter
and tyson vs ali
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is
Mike Tyson. In his hayday he was dynamic.
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Joe Frazier. Can you imagine what his left hook would do to Wlad. He would clean out the division imo. Sonny Liston would be a good pick too
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
All of the above, but also The dark destroyer himself, Nigel Benn and also Michael Watson :'(
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
How about really good fighters who never won a world title at that time?....
Herol Graham
Harry Wills
Joe Jeanette
Cleveland Williams

I would like a Prime George Foreman...he would beat EVERYONE. I mean if I had to schedule any heavyweight fight vs anyone all-time, the first choice is George Foreman, he could beat almost anyone, yes including a Prime Tyson, George was too tall and too powerful for Tyson.
Roy Jones Jr.
Chris Eubank (see how Tarver would fight HIM)
REAL OLD SCHOOL
John L. Sullivan
Jack Johnson
Young Griffo
Willie Pep
Harry Greb
Gentleman Jim Corbett

George Foreman was beaten in his prime by Muhammed Ali who was not in his prime. George was at his peak mentally and physically for the fight and he got hammered. Many historians over the years say that it was a rope a dope, but it really was not. Ali wobbled that guy on numerous occasions in that fight and simply outboxed him, he threw alot more heat than Foreman even though Foreman was the stalker. Foreman was awesome but a mentally stable Tyson what have put him down.

Lyle I want to respectfully disagree with you on Tyson vs Foreman I am curious to see what the break down of the fight would be in your mind what did Foreman have that Tyson didnt? and how would he accompolish beating Tyson? What skill set did he possess that elevate him over Tyson? Thanks
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
Would love to see prime RJJ still fighting now, wish he was prime against Tarver, would love to see Pernell Whitaker anywhere.Tito would cause havoc at 147 and De La Hoya in his prime for the fight against Floyd!!! Oh and Marvin Hagler too!

Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
1st GBrandon, "a mentally stable" Tyson...yeah when was that again? Foreman hit harder, was meaner, and would bully Tyson before Tyson could bully him.
Tyson beat an Old Holmes and a tiny Michael Spinks who was an all-time great...other than that he had 0 victories over an All-Time Great light heavyweight.
Foreman won the title twice, beat: Frazier (twice), Norton, Chuvalo, Ron Lyle and so on. He hit harder, he was a big bully, he fought anyone who would step in the ring with him.
-
Re: If You Had The Power To Resurect Or Turn Back The Clock on A fighter Who Is It?
I would love to turn back ttime and see just how much greater Tyson could have been if it wasn't for the jail sentences and this, that and the other!
I think he would have been the greatest ever heavyweight boxer.
What a waste!

There was only one man that could ever seem to control Mike Tyson and that was trainer Cus D'Amato. Mike was alway's wild even before he met the trainer but Cus seemed to be a father figure and a great mentor. He made Mike into a great champion and kept him focused something he could not do after his death, this is what I mean by mentally stable. Secondly Micheal Spinks seemed to be just fine at heavyweight, beating an unbeaten legend like Larry Holmes back to back while capturing the heavyweight title. Why was he undersized? Maybe it's the 91 second debacle that he recieved from Tyson!! Micheal Spinks size was not the reason he got knocked out, it's because Mike was relentless and Spinks was very scared. Another thing was Mike is the youngest heavyweight champion in history at 20, most 20 year olds today or living with their parents. That was a great accomplishment as well as unifiying them a couple of years later I don't care if you question the opposition or not. Now back to George Foreman, nobody is taking anything away from him or his great victories or his punching power, I respect it unlike your disrespect for Tyson. I just think that prime on prime Tyson would have beat him. I doubt very serious that Foreman could have taken the storm, but since you are so confident about it start a thread and take a poll. I guarantee you will have most of the forum disagree with you.

I agree on how fearful people were of George he was a beast!!!!But I have watched alot Foreman fights and I was a big fan of his comeback as well as his history. The truth is George had no defense and lacked in the speed department...Early Tyson who jabbed and set up his combo's would be way to fast for George he would be overwhelmed,Tyson would land devasteing shots through Georges leaky defense..
Tyson Ko's George in 6..Only cause George is holding Tyson more than punching him or if it was a slugfest Tyson in 2, SC all you want its the truth..
Tyson was just as feared if not more than George...Everyone focuses on Tysons power which was some of the best ever, early Tyson had middleweight hand speed with devestating Power and 5-6 punch combos...THAT IS THE INTIMIDATIG PART...Nuclear missles coming at you like they were shot out of an UZI!!!!
