Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
I can't wait to see the odds on this one, de la Hoya has to be favored...but not by too much

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
Its for the light middleweight belt..this is bad for floyd....this is the dumbest move by far...
I said along time ago that his only chance of losing would be if he moved up in weight too fast...and this is toooooooo fast....
He won't move because he will think that he can punch harder this new weight due to the extra muscle...if he pulls this off at 154 its a done deal he's top 5 all time period regardless of what happens after this fight if he wins everything else is just a plus and nothing will be able to diminish this accomplishment...that's if he wins...but there's nothing to lose by losing to delahoya because he will officially be 25pounds north of his natural weight and he's not even taking a tune up fight....this is borderline crazy...
154...why floyd? Why? :o ??? :'(

well oscar is a natural welterweight its not like he is a legitimate jr middleweight. plus floyd was willing to fight Winky who is much bigger than oscar. My money is on floyd but my wishes are with oscar

even if oscar is natural WW that's 17 pounds heavier than pbf not to mention oscar had two fights at 160..this might be too great a task..but I hope floyd pulls it out....

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
Floyd will box Oscar's ears off at 154, the weight means nothing. Mayweather cruises to a UD.

they also said Vivian Harris vs. Ricky Hatton ;)

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
I do indeed believe this fight will happen and I think...PBF wins.....Oscar looked awesome in his last outing, against MAYORGA and firstly it was his first fight in ages and second,it did not answer questions about his stamina. PBF maintains a high pace allllll throughout and although he will not have much pop at all,I think he can jab/run Oscar all night. The things in Oscar's favour are his size advantage, especially if this fight is at 154 but I still think he is biting off more than he can chew, especially at this stage of his career.Mayorga is not exactly ideal preparation for PBF is it!! For Oscar to have a chance to win,he MUST make sure this is it 154,and not at a catch weight.

Come on man, this is just build up for the promotion. Picture the headlines, "De La Hoya fends off retirement for showdown with the world's best boxer." De La Hoya is already hyping the promotion up. Damn, I'm fucking excited. Honestly, PBF @ 154 is still 3x faster and quicker than ODLH. There's no way ODLH is outboxing PBF. If the fight goes the distance, PBF wins by UD. If it doesn't then you already know what happened, an ODLH KO. This is gonna be huge event.

Man, the more I think about the styles, defense and quickness of both fighters the harder it is to pick a winner especially at 154. I think de la Hoya has a few advantages reach, height and experience at this weight class.
I think Mayweather's advantages are age, slight speed advantage and the stronger personal motivation (conquering
his father)
This one is still hard for me to call.

Well I hope boxrec isn't getting everyone's hope up for nothing. I still think this fight is going to happen though.

I don't think PBF will run at all...have you noticed that since he put on weight from 135,140,147, his movement has stopped...he plants his feet now...I have seen floyd move around the ring in while...against judah he was actually coming forward for the last 9 rounds....i think that at 154 he will do the same as Shane which is believe that the extra muscle means
"I can punch harder" which will be shown by his standing in the pocket thinking he will dodge or block delahoya's shots which could be dangerous considering how accurate oscar is....I want PBF to kick his ass, but I think this is too much too soon...he's moving up too fast....

I find it hard to believe that de la Hoya would turn down an opportunity to make this much money.
Plus he can say he fought the reigning number 1 p4p boxer, win or lose he gets paid huge and gets
respect for taking the fight. It would be silly for him not to take it.

Agreed. There is too much money involved for him to turn this fight down. He is a businessman after all. Win, lose, or draw in the ring it will be a huge win monetary wise and for the sport of boxing in general. I just hope they both make weight. ;D

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
he doesn't get any respect if he gets his ass whooped by a smaller man....

Oooh good point BUT I think PBF has sat down against fighters he know he can stand up to. I think Oscar would be waaaay too big to go to war with, but I'd looove to see it,would make the fight even better! Oscar lands the left hook,Floyd is down,it's over:that's what we wil hear if PBF trades. I am looking forward to this fight so if/when PBF wins,he can come back to 147 and fight Tony.

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
If DLH aplied the same type of preasure and agressivnes to Floyd like he did to Mayorga then, expect to see pretty boy floored by one of Oscar´s Brilliant left hooks.
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
if this happens at 154 then its oscar all the way for me

If oscar comes foward , he will eat right hands and floyd will circle him enroute to a UD.....

Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
At 154 PBF is getting KTFO: mark my words!!!!

my my haven't we changed our tune.. ;D
I totally agree every boxer that moves up in weight plants there feet more. Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens when this great boxer and this good boxer stand toe to toe ;D
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
I think people may have Kostya syndrome, You know, When an old great boxer comes back after a long time out and puts on a great performance and suddenly he can beat anyone ;D, Wheather at 154 or lower i still think Floyd's Superior boxing skills wins him this fight, Oscar wont have faced anyone even close to the technical ability's that Floyd possesses while Floyd is used to fighting bigger opponents (ok maybe not as big as Oscar but you get the point), It would be a disgrace though if Floyd's father trains Oscar for this, But never the less i see this ending like the Gatti fight if Oscar's not careful O0
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
Now this is VERY exciting i truly hope that it is true!
-
Re: Floyd Mayweather vs. Oscar De La Hoya is set
When Oscar lost to Hopkins, everybody said Oscar is shot an should retire, Now that he beat a toughman/club fighter in Mayorga, Everybody is back on the Dela Hoya banwagon. PBF will kick his ass.
