Does shane mosley have a legacy?
When fighters of this era are mentioned regarding their legacies, the names that always pop up are Delahoya, Roy Jones, Hopkins, Trinidad. How come Shane is never mentioned, do you think he will have a legacy when he retires, has he already done enough for it, is it too late to start now coz he is not the same fighter he used to be and if he can what should he do and who should he fight to achieve it.
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
those who really watch it will know trhat shane is and was one of the most dominate light weight fighter of all time..his losses are only due to moving up in weight too fast..IMO he's is the best 135pounder ever....

if only he could have had some more patience......man ...He is still a bad man....
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
He defeated Oscar Delahoya in his prime, not once, but twice. And he never ducked anyone. So yes, he will have a legacy.

He already is ;) He has done more then just beat Oscar Delahoya. he is one of the greatest Lightweights of all time and would probably be a 70-0 140 pounder by now but he wouldn't have gotten recognition unless he had beaten Oscar. But a Tszyu fight would have been nice :(
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
Man he was a beast at lightweight, I may go as far as rivaling Duran's legacy if he stayed a little more. He packs a punch at that division and would toy with the tope Lightweights today. He may KO PBF if they've met at Lightweight then.
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
I'm not sure,I mean he DID beat Oscar twice but I think the moving up in weight seriously diminished his legacy,he should have just stayed in the lower weight classes:Prime Mosley v prime PBF,I know I'd back Mosley and imagine what his record would be like!!! I doubt he would have lost or at least rarely!! OOOOOOO,Tszyu against Mosley@140!!! Kostya loved fighting boxers, very few survived with him,so it would be a great great fight.
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
Tszyu was troubled if you pressed him and were right handed. It would have been a quicker version of the Phillips fight and Mosley wouldn't give Tszyu ground or a place to extend and would destroy his body and stop him in 7th on two uppercuts to the center of the gut ;)

Naaa, but the only people to have success with Kostya are those that bumrushed him,a la Hatton,I don't think that's Mosley's style.I think Molsey would win but not via stoppage and Kostya would catch him flush somewhere, the question is how would Molsey take it? Also, peeps,is it true Oscar ducked Kostya? I have read it on numerous occassions but with no evidence.Fill me in!
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
I d back a prime Mosley to beat Floyd , Tito , Tszyu Oscar etc . He was that good .
Fantastic as a lightweight , id never seen a fighter like him before but moving up several divisions and taking on the best men may effect his leagacy . Taking Wright to a close points verdict is no easy achievement from a guy who had his best days as a lightweight . If Floyd took the fights Mosley has I dont think he would have done as well . As weve already seen him floored by Judah and outworked by Castillo .
Not sure how Shanes legacy will stand in history but people who know their boxing will recognise he was a great

you shouldn't say things like that because those who haven't seen it will believe it...PBF wasn't floored by judah because of power it was a balance shot and floyd wasn't even hurt..so don't exagerrate...

Is it an exageration to say that feather fisted Corley hurt him too ?
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?

no because chop did hurt him..with a very clean punch but mayweather didn't go down he in fact turned the aggression towards chop...
but it is an exaggeration to say judah dropped him esp when it wasn't even called...and floyd wasn't hurt, it was a glancing balance shot and his glove touched the canvas..but he was in no way "floored" as you put it....

but shouldnt that have been considered a knockdown . if a punch caused a slip then it should have been counted . I saw a punch knock Mayweather off balance and he touched down , the same things happend to Trinidad ( against Mayorga ) and Pac ( against Barrera ) and they got counted so why not Floyd . No doubt he gets preferential treatment cuz he could have been d.q'd in that fight . Rules state that the boxer whos cornerman enters the ring shall be d.'d but not in Floyds case ::**

I thought time was called by the Ref??? If so then he dosent get DQ'd because the round is not in progress

Ive read a different justification which was they didnt think it was fair to lose his undefeated record for a mistake of his uncles doing . But still something needs to be done otherwise everyones cornerman will be coming into the ring and starngling the opponent . I didnt mind cuz it was only Judah afterall ;D
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
yeah man steele called time..so it was okay to get in the ring..and it's not floyd's fault steele didn't see his glove touch the ground.. so take a point away from floyd judah still loses a UD..so it doesn't even matter...do you think that Mayorga gave a shit that he got a knockdown scored in his favor against tito? because he was knockeddown three times enroute to losing...
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
Shane was one of the best Lightweights already which imo gives him a legacy.
Re: Does shane mosley have a legacy?
I thought Holiday gave him a pretty hard fight considering it was Holiday... I would have liked to have seen Mosley fight JLC or something who wouldn't get tired in the ring, and had power, and alot of skill to boot.
