Clinton Woods v Glen Johnson - The BBC says it's true!
Has anyone else spotted the article on the BBC website saying that the IBF have confirmed Johnson as the mandatory fight for Clinton Woods, and will fight within 90 days of 15 June.
Personally, I think it'll be a great fight wherever it takes place, though I hope a British promoter wins the purse bid so I can go see it as opposed to watching it on Sky.
It seems to be a win win situation really, Woods gets to clear his record and overturn the defeat he suffered to Johnson, and make a bundle of money off of it too, as it will be a big money fight.
Johnson gets one last (maybe, maybe not?) shot at the title, a do-or-die final swansong, because if he loses, I don't see him getting another shot at a major belt.
All in all, I can't wait.

A bundle of money?? I doubt it will be anything close to a bundle of money, but it will be a great fight between to men who come to fight, i see another close fight could go either way.
Re: Clinton Woods v Glen Johnson - The BBC says it's true!
Three is little doubt that Woods has improved considerably since the 1st 2 encounters, the question is has Johnson declined at all??
Makes for an intresting fight!
Re: Clinton Woods v Glen Johnson - The BBC says it's true!
Should be an excellent fight, I'll be looking forward to this one.

Re: Clinton Woods v Glen Johnson - The BBC says it's true!
Is it gonna be the same date that the Calzaghe fight was scheduled?
At any rate I agree this should be a friggin awesome match, I think Johnson
still has enough left to take this one, however i wouldn't be surprised if
Woods takes it away!!

Can you do me a favor and let me know as soon as you have a date, I will definately watch this as long as it's not
on the same night as ODLH and PBF

Re: Clinton Woods v Glen Johnson - The BBC says it's true!
I honestly havn't seen Woods since getting destroyed by Roy Jones.. Some people say he's gotten much better, but I've always been curious as to whether he's filled out yet or not. Thats what stuck out the most to me about Clinton Woods, just entirely too lanky. And not in a Tommy Hearns type of way, more like

LMAO!!
Nah i know us Brits get behind our fighters, but in all honesty in his last 3/4 fights has looked really good, and i honestly believe this is a genuine 50/50 fight.
Re: Clinton Woods v Glen Johnson - The BBC says it's true!
It was 50/50 the first time... I reckon Clinton just nudged it... but I guess I'm biased... ;) The second time round he looked lethargic... head was in the clouds.
If he can come in at his best and improve like he has been doing GJ is in trouble ;)
Re: Clinton Woods v Glen Johnson - The BBC says it's true!
Yup, when it comes to Brit fighters with titles, I always get the red, white and blue haze come down, and I always favour them, but I really think Clinton has it in him this time to put Johnson's arse on the floor. Whatever, I, as always (except when Calzaghe fights) will be happy with an entertaining fight, and some proper hard punches going in.

that's the way to do it though...wait till a guy gets too old and then pounce on him....couldn't beat him in his prime so wait 3 more years....most trilogys are done inside of 2 years for all 3 fights....this guy waited.....to make it worse he got wupped in his hometown....

Listen mate, there was no third because Johnson moved on to bigger things!!! Woods is a small draw, he has nothing to offer a fighter other than a World Title hence why he is fighting Johnson!! Get your facts right mate becasue i tell you one thing Clinton Woods has the biggest heart in boxing, he fought RJJ in his own back yard in 2002 for almost peanuts, while RJJ was paid in the millions, Clinton Woods would fight anyone at anytime.
Johnson's options fight Woods again for peanuts or move onto Tarver and RJJ, mmmmmmmmmmmmm wonder which one id pick?? Dont make judgements on subjects you nothing about.

exactly...there was no 3rd fight because he didn't deserve a 3rd...not that Johnson moved onto bigger things..that was just a coincidence...you draw with and then beat a man in his home town you BEAT him soundly...I was eluding to the fact that Woods is looking at this fight as a revenge fight a fight to erase the past 2 fights with Johnson....but it won't be...It will be a fighter in his prime against a fighter on the decline....no matter what the results are everyone knows Woods couldn't beat Johnson in his prime...that's what I meant by the whole Trilogy thing....too much time has passed for this to be a legit trilogy....mate

Fair enough mate, you talk alot of sense there, he didnt deserve a third match at that point, but Clinton is a top guy and leaves it all in the ring and i respect fighters like that and now he has the IBF Strap after a great win over Hoye, i feel he deserves another crack at Johnson who i believe is no where near shot and is not far off his best i honestly feel it is 50/50, you can see Clinton has come on so much and fights with Johnson and RJJ has made him better IMO, it showed how much he has improved with his stoppage of Di Lisle ast time out who he struggled to stop in 10/11 last time they met two years ago, but for this will be a fight i cant wait to see between two guys imo will fight anyone anywhere, just wish we had more fighters like this in boxing.

Not sure what point your trying to make, but if you think Woods has somehow been in waiting for Johnson to start to slip you couldnt be more wrong. Woods and Johnson are very similar in that they will fight whoever puts the most bread on the table. It should also be noted that whilst Woods has aparently been waiting for Johnson to slide he has taken on and beaten two or three men few thought he was capable of ;)

CC he was the bookies outsider against Hoye and Gonzalez, i think that shows how much he has come on in last couple of years.
