I don't, but he looked to have a broken jaw. Can anyone confirm?
-
Re: paulie malinaggis face
He does.
from fightnews
Paul Malignaggi was taken to Roosevelt Hospital where it was confirmed he suffered a broken nose and a fractured orbital socket in his brutal encounter with Cotto.
He is one tough guy, to take all of that and still only lose the fight 7-5. And the thing is he didn't fight better UNTIL he got the broken nose and etc. That's real impressive. Maybe Malignaggi is as good as he said he was, Cotto's just better then he said he was as well.

Re: paulie malinaggis face
I think Paulie's gonna be out for about 6 months and be back again, 2 more fights and he will win the title.

Re: paulie malinaggis face
The nose thing didn't happen until the tenth or 11th round but it became really bad when he got caught with a left hook to the face. That s**t was leaking badly.
-
Re: paulie malinaggis face
Malignaggi's one tough one!
And I think the jaw happened in the 2nd when he was dropped. Then he came back and won rounds which suprised me. I thought he'd panic after the cut plus the knockdown, but he was actually more composed :-\
I think Malignaggi is potentially one of those fighters that lose early but go on to win world titles.

You might be on to something here......to have that much adversity thrown at you all inside of one fight, a broken jaw, cut, broken nose, he had the trifecta of bad shat happen to him in a very short amt of time....most boxers lose it once that happens...but true champs get up and drive on..... Get well soon Paulie!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: paulie malinaggis face
Paulie is gonna be fine if he recovers mentally from this fight. With every1 moving to 147, he can be one of the top guys in his weight class. He looked a little discouraged to me after the fight but he took it like a man. He didn't take anything away from Cotto and he even admitted that he wasn't looking for an immediate rematch cause he knows he ain't ready. If he takes his time, he'll do some big things for sure.
-
Re: paulie malinaggis face
I think he looked discouraged because he knows he can do better then he did. But he accepted defeat in a way and said he needs 1 or 2 fights to sand over the flaws he showed in the fight and then he'll be ready again. I like that mentality that he knows he still has more to learn as opposed to most fighters who feel the wheel is already built, Malignaggi knows that there's still more, and I like that mentality

Re: paulie malinaggis face
Tough man,but the one who did it to him..tougher.

Re: paulie malinaggis face
I give Paulie a lot of credit, he dealt with adversity very well, first time cut and a broken face. I think he will be around for as long as his hands last. I could see him winning a title sometime down the line, but I dont think he could dominate due to his lack of power. I see him along the lines of Corely, respected fighter that really tests others.

Re: paulie malinaggis face
I'm happy to see the little punk got beaten up. I hate Paulie Malinaggi, didn't see the fight yet, but glad to see Paulie didn't run his way to a decision. Hes a true punk. I wish him no permanent damage or anything, but I am happy to see he got beat down. I'm surprised he went the dsitance and actually won some rounds to be honest.

Re: paulie malinaggis face
All you Cotto fans dragging Paulie down show huge disrespect to a fellow boxer, yes he had a big mouth, but Paulie exemplified what a BOXER with the right stuff about them at the end of the day should have, he trained himself into the best shape he could be in, he came to fight, gave his all, never shyed away from the task, faught through the pain barrier, never quit, and showed respect for his opponent before, during and after the fight, he was just saying he believed there were weaknesses and that he was better. He took his loss like a man and admitted he wasn't the better man on the night, but did himself proud, and for periods of the fight he was winning well, and backing up all of his talk, he just couldn't sustain it. I'm most definatly a big fan of his now, and I have great respect for him. I respect all boxers for getting in the ring cos at one time or another they were all underdogs, and put their bodies on the line. It takes unbelivable courage.

After all the s**t he was talkin, he deserves all the bullets coming his way. He just has to stay strong mentally and move forward. I like him better now than b4 the fight because he took the loss like a man.(NO EXCUSES) What really gets me is that everyone is making it more about him than Cotto who punished him to the point of holding on just to complete the 12.

I'll always hate him and think him a punk no matter if he becomes a 3 weight class champion, walks on the moon, climbs mount everest or never fights again.

No doubt. Paulie Malinaggi is Arrogant and it really shows. Now don’t get me wrong. All great fighters are arrogant to some degree but usually have some class and respect for others. All that tuff guy talk is B.S the fighters with the mouth usually talk B.S. because of self doubt. And try and build themselves up in there own mind . . I always said it’s the quiet guy in the room that has not said a word who has my attention .

Did Tarver even stand a chance against Hopkins in that fight? When things weren't going Tarver's way, he went into a shell and gave up the fight. Things didn't go Paulie's way he fought on and fought hard, and fought his best and never ever gave up or conceded the fight to Cotto. Of those two Magic Man only Paulie has the championship heart. He has been through things that Tarver can't even imagine except for a broken jaw, and when Tarver had a broken jaw he gave up, against the light punching Eric Harding. malignaggi gets one against the hard punching Cotto and he fights harder! He had every intention of backing up his words. I don't respect a trash talker who goes into the ring and only tries as long as thing go their way and the little bit of adversity they give up and punk out.. those are the trash talkers I don't respect. The kind I do is those that go in there TO BACK UP every word, and they try their hardest to win, Paulie dug as deep as he could for that fight and I respect him for that more then I would have if he had won an easy decision, he gained more respect from me in losing then he ever could have from winning an easy decision. All credit to Malignaggi for that. Cotto won the fight but Paulie won the event ;) It's just you haters that try to cloud over it and still belittle what he did when you know damn well if you were facing what he faced you would have been out early.
But then again, you said Pacquiao would beat Mayweather didn't you? ::**
-
Re: paulie malinaggis face
Damn Starr makes long posts, my turn ;D
Saying Paulie won the event is reaching IMO. Don't take this the wrong way Starr but you seem to be a very confrentational person, when one person says white you say black without thinking about it. Yes Paulie fought hard but an asswhoopin is an asswhoopin. When it was all said and done I'm pretty sure all the cheers were for Cotto, and I'm sure Tarver had every intention of backing his words up. But they both came up extremery (as my asians friends say) short. If Magalini won a few rounds blame Cotto for cruising like we all know he does, don't credit Paulie. If B-Hop took it easy in the 6th and 7th round and Tarver stole those would you be screaming he's all heart as well? It's not his fault for being a feather puncher as he was born with those brittle hands, but he's the ignorant fool who decided to box, and wants to run his mouth on top of it all (ironic). He'll never be able to beat guys like Cotto, Hatton, or Mayweather because of it. When you're completely dominating, knocking guys out left and right making other fighters look bad and want to run your mouth, cool with me you've earned it - but that isn't Paulie.
Like the picture btw
-
Re: paulie malinaggis face
Now if Joel Julio wanted to run his mouth like Magalini, that I could handle

Cool click for you Starr, you have spoken the truth.
Malignaggi is still bankable and people will want to see the little fella fight.
If i got beat half as bad as Paulie did, i'd be dead.
The kid showed incredible fortitude.
It wasn't enough to win him the fight but give him his due.
Show the kid some respect.
He can't help it that he doesn't hit strong.

wow his been through only a cotto fight...now his so brave...his a loudmouth that cotto shut out...yes he fought his hardest now what does he offer? his face to catch leather?...
yes i said pac can beat floyd!!!!!...one thing floyd always had against his oppenent is speed...pac can match that plus with power...with the multiple head a body punch relentless pac dish out floyds would be on constant defence...floyd would have to counter all day...losing wieght will make floyd tire out early that spells doom if your in with pac...
REMEMEBER ROY droping weight to fight tarver in their first fight...roy look tired and wasn't the same...i wouldn't be suprise if floyd would look the same...after coming down in weight...pac is coming up to fight at 135...everybody at first said he was best in 126 not in 130 but didn't he knock out morales in 130...yea you should doubt pac in 135 who knows...HIGH RISK FOR FLOYD LOW REWARD...its a win win situation for pac...

This isn't about Punkie Mallinagi, it's about the winner and still champ, Cotto. Don't forget who won. Who made another man fear him and hold on from the fear of not getting knocked out or having any more body parts broken. Just cause he stood in the middle of the ring doesn't mean he was going toe to toe. Did you see how he would hold and lean his body so far over that his face was damn near touching the mat to avoid being further debilitated by Cotto's body shots? Guess you missed that part. It was domination.
