In an interview conducted by Dan Rafael of ESPN.com, Oscar De La Hoya speaks on why retiring or facing Flyod Mayweather Jr is taking longer to decide than he had anticipated.
Oscar tells Rafael of ESPN: "The truth is I just need a few more days. I can't come up with an answer, I really can't. I feel pressured by everyone who just wants an answer, if it's yes or no. I don't want to say, 'Yes, I will fight,' and then tomorrow say, 'No, no, no, I'm not going to fight anymore.' I don't want to say, 'No, I'm not going to fight anymore,' and then in a few weeks say, 'I'm fighting.'
Oscar added: "It's such an important decision to the boxing world and to me personally. It is very, very important. It's just very difficult to come up with the answer, it really is. I don't know what day or when it is going to come to me. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I really don't."

If Floyd/Oscar ends up happening I'll be happy to tune in. But if it doesn't I'll still be happy to see Mayweather get all pissed off at leaving Bob Arum for no reason, and still have to fight Hatton/Cotto/Margarito.

A Rumor spreading says that a rotator cuff injury has force Oscar De La Hoya out of a possible retirement match againt Floyd Mayweather Jr., on September 16. Oscar has yet to make a decision on the fight.
Although the rumor is spreading, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer squashes the romur telling Matthew Aguilar of the El Paso Times that Oscar's fate will likely have nothing to do with a bum shoulder.
Shaefer tells the El Paso Times: "His future is still sort of uncertain. But his decision will have nothing to do with his rotator cuff. It's been a problem for a few years, but it was perfect against Ricardo Mayorga (on May 6). The decision will have nothing to do with injuries."
In regards to a possible match up between De La Hoya and Mayweather Jr for September 16, Shaefer is quoted as saying: "The time is here. We can't wait much longer than the early part of next week. Because then it will be difficult to put together an Oscar De La Hoya fight. Time is running out to put together an effective Oscar De La Hoya promotion. So next week he'll probably make his decision." Adding: "I don't know what he will decide to do. It's not my place to speculate on these kinds of decisions."
