The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he wins!!
http://www.fightfan.com/
I hope so that would be a good fight!!
FF: Not asking you to look past this fight, but if Winky is victorious? What would you like to see him do after this fight? Stay at middleweight? A move up?
DB: I think there’s a fight with Calzaghe looming from what Gary Shaw was talking about.
FF: What are your thoughts on that style match up for Winky? Is it a good fightfor him.
DB: Yea, sure. I’d like to see some get back for Jeff (Lacy).
Re: The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he wins!!
i think winky would be making a mistake in moving up to super middle straight away....its possibly a step too far for him...
calzaghe would outwork him.....

Winky just got to 160 a fight ago, he is not ready to move up again, Taylor would be a more ideal opponent for JC

if taylor wins thats a fight i would like to see :coolclick:
i think wright can beat taylor at middleweight but not calzaghe at super middleweight...
taylor at super middleweight could be more of a problem...
sounds a bit messy, i know!!! ;D
Re: The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he wins!!
I think it is not Wright or Taylor, neither are big enough (mainstream) names in Britain.
The way Warren is talking, I believe he is making Calzaghe/RJJ at 175lbs. ;)
Re: The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he wins!!
I personally believe that Winky could handle the volume of Calzaghe...just not sure about the weight.
Then again...WInky's gotta get past Taylor first, don't he?
Re: The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he wins!!
It's all very interesting at the moment. Looking forward to the Taylor Wright fight and now looking forward to the winner against Calzaghe if it happens which looks a real possibility. One things for sure Boxing is really on the up at the moment and it's good news for the future of the sport and especailly for us boxing fans. So much to look forward to ...Brilliant!

Ive been thinking that too...Ive said so on another thread out there somewhere...
To be honest, it just isnt a "Superfight" IMO....its Joe getting a payday against an over the hill Jones Jr.....thats it

I think it is Jones he is talking about.
After all, Warren was pretty much suggesting it is a done deal. Taylor and Wright are 24 hours or so from their fight, so I cannot see either of their camps getting into serious negotiations, the week of a pick em fight. I believe Hopkins (fingers crossed), when he says he is going to retire, thus RJJ is the only one left... unless Oscar fancies moving up two weight divisions!!! ;)
And RJJ/Calzaghe would be an absolute massive fight in this country; RJJ is one of about three non Heavyweights, that sports fans in this country have heard of.
Re: The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he wins!!
Didn't Jones price himself out of the July date? Plus he's fighting at the end of next month and Warren is talking about a "superfight" in September

I think you are probably correct, Britkid :coolclick:
Its just not a fight I really want to see.....Jones Jr will get knocked out viciously....
and the result says nothing about Calzaghe's pound 4 pound status....
Still, it would be a popular fight for many....

That maybe the reason for the delay to the announcement; compensation to parties involved in a potential cancellation of RJJ/Ajamu...
As for RJJ pricing himself out of the July date; after intially playing hard ball, perhaps the ego that is RJJ, has gotten a little pragmatic in his old age?
Re: The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he wins!!
IMO its the winner of wright/taylor thats why he aint naming names...
First off i think calzaghe wudn't move up to fight RJJ 'coz i believe joe wants to make the 20 title defence bench mark.
Second off if they are thinking of an RJJ fight it wont be until 1 or 2 fights AFTER the september... a big win on lacy isn't enough to generate enough interest in Jc in the US, now a cracking win over wright/taylor would then pave the way for either a total unification with the winner of byer/kessler and then a final fight with RJJ followed be retirement.
I think thats his next three fights providing he keeps winning and his hands hold up. Order might change tho, RJJ could be second then he may go for the total unification.
Re: The big fight Warren is talking about for Calzaghe has to be Winky if he win
Don't want to sound negative (actually I'm a moaning bastad so course I do :P) but I don't think Calzaghe will fight any big name American fighter next time around.
At best he'll get the winner of Woods Johnsonn early next year, maybe a fight with Carl Froch, which would be huge domestically in the meantime.
But as far getting another fight with a top American fighter (Johnson aside) there is no chance. Between Calzaghe's hand troubles and all the red tape and beaurocracy involved in negotiations I can't see a fight with Jones, Hopkins, Tarver, Taylor or Winky coming up.

I agree, but mostly because Calzaghe is unwilling to leave Wales and is known to pull out of fights..I mean how is Warren even announcing anything, is his hand all healed now?? If so what happened to the Johnson fight and how is any fighter supposed to count on a match with him coming off?
