What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
Whatever happened to the days of 'Ambitionz as a Ridah' by 2Pac whenever Tyson came to the ring? Terry Norris coming into the Geto Boys. Gerald McClellan coming in with Gza. Nowadays, Jermaine Taylor entering the ring to Lynard Skynard ??? :o Hopkins coming in with Frank Sinatra ??? :o What started this trend of gayness ???

Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
Are you calling Sinatra and Synyryd gay? :fyou:
But entrance music is on the decline.

Frank Sinatra is alright if you're 54 and sitting in a lounge in central Florida on a Sunday afternoon. It's not alright to follow out a guy who just came out to some Scarface. It's actually rather gay.
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
How old are you if you don't mind me asking ?
Even though his music did not appeal to me I recognized Sinatra's class and in no sense of the word is his music gay.
It was most appropriate for Hopkins to come out to My Way for his ' final fight' and I and I'll bet millions of others had a broad grin on their faces during his ringwalk

y would rap music make u look hard?

Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
humility is a virtue; that is why we like to see the nasim hameds of the world get their butts kicked up and back where they belong, up their butts. but a little good music on the entry, like both skynyrd and sinatra, is cool. who cares?. buffer is a bigger problem, and arum insulting our intelligence by saying that rahman is some all-time great, and king the crook, and judges worrying about the direction from which their paychecks come, now that's what we have to address.

SH*T on anybody who talks smack about Frank. Most rap doesn't sound intimidating or tough at all. Matter o' fact, Frank was with real gangsters not people who title themselves after fake gangsters.

Best entrance music is ATCQ or anything MD because you can match them to just about any boxer.

Because Cory Spinks burned it all out by his one entrance in the Judah fight ;D

Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
anyone that thinks coming out to rap music is going to make you fight better is an idiot...
I'd prefer exploder by audioslave though ;D
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
I want fighters to come out to the sound of white noise and babies crying.
I went to an MMA tournament last week and one fighter came out to a mixture of the Omen theme and carmina burana. That was original and bit scary.
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
what was Jermain Taylor song he came out to this fight? wasnt it country? i didnt get to hear it
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
I agree Frank and Lynard Skynard are awsome.
some of the best music ever recorded.

Fuck that......I'd come out to Slayer. The sound of that music alone makes most people piss themselves.

If it were Slayer, they might actually beat there own faces off before making it to the ring. "Angel of Death"
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
Taylor came out to "In the air tonight" by Phil Collins in the first B-hop fight. Then came out to "Simple Man" by Lynard Skynard last night. I actually like both songs and do not find either of them gay. Collins suck, and that is the only song by him I like, but the song is not gay.
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
I thought "Simple Man" made an honest statement about JT. Isn't that the point behind entrance music? It was definitely much better than if he had tried to come out bouncing around to some trendy rap music in an effort to look "hard". (btw, I'm NOT saying that's what Wink did. Wink's message was obvious, too)

I couldn't agree more!! Whether you like or dislike rap "what more can I say" Is the truth about someone who has proven themself in life. It will hit home with anyone who has risen from the bottom to top. Other than that. I'm Italian, I grew up on Frank but couldn't see it as ring music. It sounds almost as stupid to come to the ring to as the local fight here I went to last night when a homie with a doo rag on came out to the Godfather theme. What an oxymoron
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
i dont want to be the one to say it but i will, do you really see him listen to Slayer, and not cuase hes black, but i mean its just not somthing id see a guy from mephis listening too, i would have thought country, like Lewis didnt come out to rap did he? thats a question cuase im not sure

Slayer Sucks? Satan's never created such a great metal band. I was working at a cd shop on Sep. 11, 2001, which is also the same day that Slayer's album "God Hates Us All" came out. Its base irony, but its at least a hoot.

it might have been appropiate for winky, however I thought Jay-Z was whining like a baby on that track...

Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
i think the best entrances are those with a big bass effect pumping up the whole stadium
-
Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
Tuck,
Great point! Frank was a REAL gangster and not like these rappers who proclaim to have grow up in the worst gettos when actually many have been discovered to have started at the Disney channel when they were children lol.
MuchoTestosterone,
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Slayer? Yep! How about "Killing Fields".
Has any fighter walked to the ring while a Rocky theme song is being played? Now that would be totally gay!
Chino

Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
I like Bernard Dunne's entrance, he comes down to Irish Rover by the Pogues and Dubliners
its not intimidating but it gets to crowd going!

Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?

I hate almost all rap, but love Dead Prez. If he chose dead prez, then props to him.

Angel of death or Raining blood maybe even Ghost of War from SOH album. I like Skynyrd.....but this hip-hop-pop shit is getting way out of control. Old rap like 2 live crew was great because it was sexually offensive...and those guys weren't trying to sell clothes.
But these new hip hop guys are sissies .........these new rap stars......man it's just a marketing ploy to get rich little suburban kids to wear baggy jeans around their knee caps and put their baseball caps on crooked like a bunch of f@cking retards.....and the list goes on and on.
If I ever saw my kid wearing his pants around his knees I would staple that shit to his hips!!!

Getting pumped up to the greatest rock band (after Credence that is) was totally astute on Taylor's part.

Re: What's With All the Gay Ring Entrance Music Nowadays?
I dont think its our right to say a boxers entrance music is dumb or gay, because were not coming out to it about to fight or know the meaning why they picked that certian song.

Megadeth, now there's a great metal band. Try W.A.S.P. too, if you like Black Metal. They are dark, but their lead singer, lawless, actually has some talent. Anthrax, SlipKnot, Static-X, Slayer, I mean :-X Screaming is not music. For screaming and what not, Pantera were not too bad, I'll give em that. For the most part I just hate scream metal myself.
