no the wlady that brewster and sander and izon fought wasn't the prime wlady...the prime wlady is the today wlady...his gotten much better and more mentally tougher and conditioned...

If Briggs comes in as a fat weazing 260 he's done, but...Vlad has never faced a boxer with the skill of Shannon Briggs and if Briggs comes in shape and well trained he KO's Vlad...Vlad squeaked by a sloppy Sam Peter but Briggs CAN fight at a different level or at least the same level as Vlad...If Briggs does muster up the heart to train properly this could be an excellent fight...

Wlad crushes Mr. Briggs who hasn't been hit (hard) since his loss to Lennox Lewis and he hasn't liked it when he has been touched up since that loss. This is going to be a one sided ass whipping if I've ever seen one, Shannon has been overweight and fighting bums....if he is fighting a title holder he fairs better vs Rahman or Valuev

If Shannon kept his weight down, he may have a chance. But the impression I get from interviews is that he doesn't want to lose his weight since he trains for knockouts and not conditioning which means if Wlad Klit gets him past 6 rounds Shannon has no chance because he'll be spent.

They are both chinless wonders who can punch hard.

I think the 1st right cross of his that lands THEN the fight is over.

Wlad's jab is tip top, no need to worry about that. And having seen Shannon fight bums lately we know he'll try to pull some goofy shit to win this fight. WHY? well here are a couple of reasons...

1. Briggs is old and hasn't fought a puncher since the DEVISTATING loss to Lewis

2. Briggs hasn't beat anyone with any skill since GEORGE FOREMAN (whom he luckily got a majority draw with)

3. Anyone who beats Wlad has to either wait his stamina out or jump on him and blast him out....either way you have to hit hard and you have to take shots....Shannon will jump on Wlad because he's scared of being hit so best to just swing for the fences and MAYBE get lucky than actually deal with the pain that jab has waiting for you.

I dont know about Briggs being chinless. He did stand up to Foreman for 12 rounds and got a lousy decision just for standing up.

Well pretty much anyone can look "quick and powerful" vs the guys he has been fighting. The fact is, Shannon has ALWAYS been timid vs power punchers and Wlad will scare the shit out of him as soon as the jab lands. Shannon at 270+ pounds won't be able to last long vs Wlad.

Shannon has been out of shape since the Brian Scott fight, he weighed 253, in his last 4 fights he has gotten as high as 273.

Yes he has KO'd people but honestly who the hell were they? Abraham Okine? Yeah you really demand respect with a win over that guy.

I'm disappointed in this fight but I will LOVE to watch Briggs get his ass beat into submission. For fighting the bums he has fought he talks a bunch of shit....behind James Toney he's the heavyweight that needs an immediate ass whippin

If it were me, I would have awarded mercer a 10.0 for that lovely DIVE he performed in the ring that night.

even if Shannon truly beat Ray Mercer, Wlad still did it earlier and more effectively

I'll agree that Briggs' career has become somewhat of a joke...but Talking about Wlad as though he is anything more than an underachiever is a bit premature...remember Briggs was KO'd by Lennox after giving LL some trouble...Wlad was knocked sensless by Brewster and Corrie Sanders hell Sanders was/is retired and took a payday to knock Vladdy out...Wlad hardly looked like a world beater getting knocked down 3 times by Peter...so I think finding a mid-level fighter with good boxing skills like Briggs is a wise choice for Manny and Wlad...I'm sure Wlad's camp expect Briggs' to run out of gas after 3or4 rounds and Wlad to take him out...either way its a wiser choice to go after a Briggs type of opponent than to go after a fighter that has a great deal of heart, that is if Briggs comes in at his weazing, gasping 260....If Shannon comes in 230 ish Wlad is in trouble because we are talking about someone with skills, excellent power and a better chin than Wlad...

Of corse Brewster had trouble with Wlad but when Wlad saw Lamon wasn't going anywhere he panicked and fell apart, do you believe this won't happen again if the situaton arises?...Look a wlad in th Peter fight once tired and hit he gets that crazed look on his face and comes undone it's a common theme back to the Purity fight...and the look wlad had in the Sanders fight was "Golota-esque", that pie-eyed wildman look that screams "Medicate Me"!!!...Sure Briggs is is an asthmatic headcase and I believe Briggs is a good test for Wlad because of his size skill and having less heart than Vladdy... but screaming for WK to unify the titles is a bit premature and Manny knows it, so we get Briggs...

Wlad is 6-2 in his last 8 with a gift against Williamson so he could easily be 5-3 against less than stellar opponents...except for a well softened Byrd what skillfull boxer did he beat ??? Again in recent years he was Clobbered by an old Corrie Sanders(remember the yound one was beat by Rahman)...KO'd by Lamon Brewster when he saw Brewster wouldn't lay down and recently Brewster has been exposed....so what makes you think that Wlad is Ready for Rahman???
