Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
Tim Henman is considering a change of career from tennis to boxing .
How far do you honestly think he can go personally i think he's making a mistake but his heart is set on it , i've heard this rumour on the grapevine for a longtime but now it seems its actually going to happen .
Novelty act if you ask me .

Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
I think that he could go far - he has the sinewy physique of a good welterweight - sort of a bit like Tommy Hearns. In fact, his overhand right, modelled on his serve, could go down in history as one of the most lethal punches of all time.
He would be a good upright boxer, but I think he may be a bit stiff. He is used to playing for points so would be used to the concept of a points win. If the opportunity presents itself, he could unleash a 'volley' of punches and score a TKO.
He is a solid competitor, and there would be no 'love' lost between him and his opponents.
He would never draw a fight, like Toney/Rahman or Taylor/Wright, as he would be quite capable of going into a tie-breaker or continuing until someone was 2 rounds clear in the scoring.
His hero would be John Ruiz, as they have both spent so much time in/on court. Instead of being the 'Quiet Man', Timmy would be the 'Shite Man' of boxing.
I hope I have treated this thread with the respect and seriousness that it so obviously deserves (!)
;D

LMAO!!!
Who told you this was it the tooth fairy when she came to pick up your tooth last night??
Mate Tim Henman couldnt fight his way out of a paper bag, saying that though he is tall around 6'2 and is a skinny mo fo, so maybe if he can make 147 there is plenty of action for him there.
I think for a warm up fight id take Hatton for his WBA belt, maybe Margorito after that then finally he should be ready for Mayweather say by the end of 07 for a big unification fight.
That has to be the worst rumour i have ever heard.

Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
Great post !!
Upright Sinewy in the Hearns mould 6-1 but i honestly don't think he'd have the power of Hearns though but he'd command enough to be a threat to any British Welter light middle thats for sure .
He has natural tenaciousness and losses his temper alot so he can figure in some pretty intresting match ups .
Dont see him going beyond local level though .
But i've been wrong before .

Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?

Skel - the worst rumour I heard was that the well-known movie-star Antonio Tarver was going to turn to Pro Boxing.
Now that would be unbelievable!

Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
henman likes to fight up close at the net which would translate to the ropes in boxing, so he would be toe to toe most of the time, which would be good for when he fights mayweather, in which hemans speed may be able to match him, his footwork certainly could therefore it might be more of a danceing points scoring rumble, altho if he his in troble im sure his wiffe would be happy to pass his racket thru the ropes in which case id go for a henman ko

Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
henman a pro boxer....wtf?!?
-
Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
given that there's no single-elimination to get yourself a title shot, henman has a better chance at being one win away from a major championship in boxing than he did in tennis.

Since when do lawyers read through and understand any topic???
That's like asking a politician if they are listening, or a tennis umpire to add up the cards at the end of a fight. Damn

Nedal looks like a boxer... hard lookin latino kid.

Re: Tim Henman to turn to Pro boxing ?
Maybe he would suck, but boxing and tennis are very similar sports. (Minus the whole hitting in the face thing)

If you're from Spain, and not Latin America, you're not Latino.

I reckon someone explained to him that boxers are divided into several weight catagories rather than everyone being ranked together in tennis.
He's probably calculated that he only needs to get a professional license for his world rank to increase by a 100 ;D

I don't get this... is it some kind of sick joke?
That said, he may fair better than he does at Wimbledon! and if not it would be great entertainment watching him getting knocked spark out by some Mexican Road Sweeper (as Nigel Benn would say).

It may as well have been four finals for all it matters, the point is that he has never won any wimbledon titles and he'd never win a boxing match either! I'd throw a malnourished midget in with him and still back the midget.
