Re: Britkid's Top 100 0f the 90s
Oscar should be no where near number 1

Re: Britkid's Top 100 0f the 90s

-
Re: Britkid's Top 100 0f the 90s
tyson #67? i would say closer to 30

I can have empathy with the argument of RJJ over DLH; but I cannot see any reason why Oscar should be any lower than #2... ;)

modify Roy to #1 or prepare to be crushed

I have #3 in the 80s:
http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxing_fo...c,33344.0.html
But his 90s were no where near the same, and the decade was strong. I had him over Douglas in the 90s... which IMO is pretty hard case to argue.

After watching Pernell Whitaker give him a boxing lesson back in 97 and getting a bogus decision I believe he should be behind Pernell also. Pernell dominated the 90's, only time he lost was when he was cheated. Felix Trinidad made 16 title defenses of his WW championship and he beat Oscar in 99. RJJ was P4P number 1 for the majority of the decade. Mosley also was strong in the 90's. Oscar should be behind all these fighters

Re: Britkid's Top 100 0f the 90s
cc bro id say lewis should be higher tho above holyfield i would say.
-
Re: Britkid's Top 100 0f the 90s
The only one I disagree with (1 out of 100 aint bad) is Naseem. He was good, but he wasnt top 10 of the 90's. To have him ahead of Trinidad, Mosley, Lewis, JCC and Hopkins i dont agree with. Maybe top 25, but 7 is far too high IMO.
Great work again tho BK :coolclick:

kool, sure he was not at the peak of his career in the 90's but he was on of the only fighters who could still make some noise and sell out places fighting john doh
he probbaly still could now. tyson need to train a young up and comming fighter, then he can make some noise again. i think he could teach what cus taught. he would be a good trainer

Despite being 12lbs over his prime fighting weight Oscar gave Trinidad his hardest fight to date, and many people dispute the decision.
Mosley looked the real in the 90s, but was not tested properly until the 21st century.
Whitaker gave de la Hoya a scare, but I think Oscar deserved the decision.
Whitaker is a little unlucky, as he peaked in 90/91, and very gradually slipped down the hill from there; so perhaps does not get the credit he may of deserved. The draw ;) with Chavez being a post 91 highlight.

Naseem is a controversial one no doubt. I was a big fan, and I put him #7 on the strength of victories in the decade over fighters rated 28, 53, 56 and 64 on my list...

Cc for the great list. Only 2 things I disagree with. Ike Quartey is to low at #42. And where the hell is Jesse James Leija at? How can he not make the list.

Fair point, I could not find a place for Ivan Robinson and Gabriel Ruelas either, I thought before I began both would be there. I guess that shows how strong the era was.

Re: Britkid's Top 100 0f the 90s
Great list but I'm still angered by your shocking omission of Frank Bruno from the 80's.
I mean, come on man name me one fighter bigger than Bruno in the 80's in Britain?
Sure he wasn't the best but he fought for the world title more than once, and brought excitement and drama to every fight. He was the first man ever to rock Tyson, gave Lewis fits for several rounds and came within minutes of beating Bonecrusher Smith and Tim Witherspoon.
I simply will not respect you boxing knowledge any longer until you rectify this slander.
And to think you call yourself Britkid? Shame on you!
Put Bruno in the top 100!!! :P

Sure would, give me a shout, when the New season begins. I will have to get my head around the American betting system in the mean time ;)

LOL, [click], in my defence, he almost got into the 90s list...

-
Re: Britkid's Top 100 of the 90s
:coolclick: Nice work BK, agree with almost all of it. I'd move Hamed down a peg or 50 tho ;D , and move molina up a bit, at least above medina!
-
Re: Britkid's Top 100 of the 90s
I AGREE WITH DLH @ #1 ALL THE WAY
-
Re: Britkid's Top 100 of the 90s
Even though this decade has 4 years remaining you should give us a rundown from 1-20.

LOL, you should not mess around with active fighters IMO, you are bound to end up with egg on your face.
Imagine I did a list for the 80s in 85/86, Don Curry would be top 3/4 and Mugabi probably top 10 :o
I am currently doing 70s and 60s lists ;)

I disagree. I think Oscar generated more excitement in the 90s than Roy and at least put his ass on the line against more dangerous foes IMO. CC Britkid

Good point, but I still think Oscar isn't 1/5th the fighter Roy is. Can't help it I'm totally biased when it comes to the subject of RJJ
