Calzaghe would murder Winky, Taylor and Hopkins.Quote:

Strongly disagree. Maybe Taylor, but only if he got to him this year. Even then, highly doubtful. But he did beat the completely unproven, unskilled and highly overrated Jeff Lacy, so I guess you must be right.Quote:

i disagree with hatton being in there
there are fighters out there who deserve it more
the rest of em i kindof agree with
but its hard to judge
get that **** outa here wow i am at a lost for words.....calzaghe is not a power puncher so u cant say that cuz hes bigger....taylor would beat him and winky would make him foolish so dont even try thatQuote:

Since those two fights, he has gone on to pick apart Puerto Rican legend Felix Trinidad in what was one of the most masterful showings of the jab and defense in middleweight history. In December he garnered a decision over awkward middleweight contender Sam Soliman. His fight with Jermain Taylor is one of the most anticipated fights of the new year.
3. Manny Pacquiao - The Thrilla from Manila has proved to be the unifying force in the super featherweight division. He shocked the world in late 2003 with a savage beating of 129 lb legend Marco Antonio Barrera, and then went on to knock Juan Manuel Marquez down 3 times en route to a controversial draw. He met Erik Morales in early 2005 in what turned out to be a fight of the year candidate, losing a unanimous decision. He avenged that loss in his last fight, being the first fighter ever to knock out the Mexican legend. He looks to put another victory on his record July 1, when he faces Mexican bantamweight champion Oscar Larios.
4. Joe Calzaghe - Calzaghe is coming off the most important and spectacular win of his career. His 12 round dismantling of Jeff Lacy in their transcontinental super bout shot the longtime 168 lb champ to the top of many pound for pound list. Calzaghe landed at will with breakneck speed and astonishing accuracy. With other 168 lb champions, Kessler and Beyer seemingly uninterested in a Calzaghe unification fight at this time, Calzaghe signed for a fight with Roy Jones Jr. and Antonio Tarver conqueror Glenn Johnson but had to pull out with a hand injury.
5. Marco Antonio Barrera - Possibly the most exciting fighter in the entire sport, Barreras most recent foe was the compact, power punching Rocky Juarez. The two engaged in what could be a candidate for fight of the year. Barrera came away with a split decision victory after some controversy over the scorecards. With 2 victories over Erik Morales, and others over the likes of Naseem Hamed, Kevin Kelley, Johnny Tapia and Robbie Peden among others, Barrera is looking to avenge his most recent loss by rematching Manny Pacquiao.
6. Ricky Hatton - England's newest boxing hero did a number on Australian boxing legend Kostya Tszyu to become 140 lb champion in June of 2005. He followed up that breakthrough victory with a devastating 9th round knockout over the awkward WBA champion Carlos Massua. On the high of those two victories, Hatton moved up to welterweight in hopes of landing a super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He took on WBA champion and relative unknown Luis Collazo and stole a controversial razor thin 12 round decision over the slick southpaw. Hatton now has his sights set on moving back down to 140 or taking on WBA mandatory Oktay Urkal.
7. Rafael Marquez - Rafael is one of the least talked about champions of boxing, less so then his older and heavier brother Juan Manuel. Despite the lack of buzz surrounding him, Rafael has proven to be a dominating force at bantamweight. He engaged in a thrilling 4 round bout against Silence Mabuza on the Jeff Lacy - Scott Pemberton undercard winning by TKO in the 4th round. Marquez is scheduled to rematch Mabuza in August.
8. Jermain Taylor - Jermain Taylor rise from the U.S. Olympic ranks has been meteoric. Only 5 years after his pro debut, Taylor found himself on the right side of a split decision against longtime middleweight kingpin Bernard Hopkins. The second fight with Hopkins proved to be equally as close as the first with the same outcome, a decision victory for Taylor. While questions and controversy still surround the Bernard Hopkins bouts, Taylor faces perhaps his toughest test when he squares off with defensive wizard Winky Wright. The fight will be Taylors second defense of his middleweight title, a fight in which he will be stepping into as an underdog.
9. Isreal Vazquez - Vazquez third bout in his trilogy with fellow Mexican Oscar Larios on the Bernard Hopkins - Jermain Taylor card ended in the third round after Larios suffered a serious gash caused by a Vazquez punch. On June 10, Vazquez stopped former super flyweight Ivan Hernandez in the 4th round of their title fight. With competition thin at super bantamweight, Vazquez is weighing his options on moving up in weight to fight the likes of Chris John or Juan Manuel Marquez.
10. Jose Luis Castillo - Less then a year ago Castillo was on a career high. Despite losing via TKO in round 10, Castillos May 7, 2005 engagement with Diego Corrales will forever go down as one of the greatest fights in boxing history. In the rematch fight, Castillo failed to make the 135 lb limit for the fight by 3 lbs so the fight went on without any titles on the line. Castillo dropped Corrales in the 4th round of their rematch before the referee stopped the fight. After winning against the overmatched Rolando Reyes, Castillo set the stage for a third fight with Corrales. At the weigh in, Castillo weighed 139.5 lbs and the fight was promptly canceled. With the cancellation came heavy fines, a missed payday, the cancellation of a fight with Miguel Cotto in November and the loss of respect from boxing fans around the world. The future looks bleak for Castillo in the time being, and only time will tell how he deals with this major setback.
Having Taylor 3rd is laughable :-\
True that.Quote:

Why is everybody so hard on Taylor, he is fighting the toughest competition that a boxer can possibly face, and it's all back to back, he is holding his own in my opinion.
B- Hop and Winky could have arguably been p4p number 1 when they fought Taylor so I dont think 3 is too high for a man who everyone agrees is still improving yet the best fighters cant beat himQuote:

Hes done more than just beat Lacy . Hes beaten afew world champions . He is the longest reigning world champion and is still undefeated . If hed done what he has done in America , theyd have him topping the p4p ratingsQuote:

I leave off M.A.B coz I was far from convinced in his last fight, he looked old to me, though he still showed signs of his brilliance, I think these guys are better, p4p. Either way, I hate these god damn lists, they're impossible concepts.
lacy is not at all our best here in america...have you even seen him on the p4p top 20...joe.C beated a young american...bhop and winky would school joe.C, kessler and beyer all in the same year...a 41 year old bhop is who he should prove himself agianst or fight winky this year or next year...but if both winky and joe.C can agree to a weight to fight on...Quote:

Taylor - Calzaghe will never happen so I thionk Joe should move up and fight a washed up Jones , Johnson or Tarver .Quote:

calzaghe would murder winky. not hopkins though.
i don't know about murder, but he's naturally 2 weight classes bigger than winky (and at this stage in his career, i think calzaghe struggles to make SMW even), so you'd expect he ought to be able to win. and agreed hopkins would dominate calzaghe. so the take-away is: calzaghe can beat world class fighters who are considerably smaller than him, but can't beat world class fighters who are slightly smaller/the same size. how that gets you high on a p4p list i have no idea.Quote:

Calzaghe has a solid chin and ain't being stopped by Hop so Calzaghe wins that one.
Winky is a skilled fighter but he just wouldn't have the power to hurt Joe at all. Plus Calzaghe is quicker than Wright, with much more power and is a better fighter than Taylor so would beat him convincingly. Taylor bashed up Winky pretty bad, even Soliman with his terrible style. Calzaghe is quicker, throws more and is more accurate than Taylor and Soliman so would easily outpoint Wright. Wright may just have enough to hold out for the 12 rounds but I'm not even sure of that.
Taylor would be the biggest challenge for Joe. A big strong, hungry and young fighter who could cause Joe lots of problems. At this stage in his career he's still a little rough around the edges and I reckon Calzaghe would take advantage of Taylor's flaws and punish him. A great fight though.
my p4p list:
winky-well rounded fighter, defeated mosley twice and trinidad a draw with the man who beat the man...
floyd-undefeated make oppenents look stupid...but I got to see him with margarito...
pac-ko's over barrera and morales...knock outs after knock outs very exciting fighter to watch...
taylor-the man who beat the man twice...youngest but steps up to best compitition there is out there...great fight with winky a draw was fair...but in the rematch i can see taylor taking p4p spot with a win or a stoppage of winky...if winky wants the rematch
bhop-the god of the middleweight has left it to jermain taylors hands...after losing to him in two close fights...the master boxer now has taken the lightheavyweight from tarver the one who dethrone jones...
joe.C-undefeated great performance over lacy...but I doubt he'll still be undefeated if he had most his fights in america...actually noun of his fights...still has some to prove to break top 5 p4p ranking...
hatton-one word why his rank p4p top 10...koysta
margarito-not well known but its going to suck for floyd...when margarito finally get to floyd...
castillo-dissapointed fight fans for not making weight for corrales fight...but still a great fighter...still the only man in my eyes to have beaten floyd maywether...
wlady-with the help of his new trainer...wlady has showed that his boxing skills have matured...but his chin still is breakable but his jab is in the way...have great skill just need to stay condition and focus...he'll dominate the heavyweight...plus what great heavyweight hasn't been knock out...
1. PBF
2. Winky
3. Pac
4. B-Hop (though he moves off as soon as he makes retirement absolutely official/certain)
5. Taylor (i thought he lost this one and the first against Hopkins, and still has serious flaws, but you have to give him credit for being so competetive with two guys that were top 2 p4p when he faced them).
6. Barrera (but I think he might be slipping)
7. R Marquez (underrated because he's small--might be top 5, really)
8. Calzaghe (has faced worse competition than all of those above, but his record stands for something)
9. Castillo
10. Hatton (though I'm sure I could be convinced someone else deserves this spot more; if he can beat Cotto or Castillo he'll get my respect)
Mine's very close:
1. Floyd
2. Winky
3. Pacquiao
4. Barrera
5. Hopkins
6. Taylor
7. Calzaghe
8. R Marquez
9. Castillo
10. Hatton

Agreed
Tsyu was arguably P4P #1 when he was about to fight hatton to, but you don't see hatton in the top 3 do you?Quote:

Hopkins would make Calzaghe miss alot of shots, he wont be standing in front of him, that for me is 50/50 i cant work out which style has the advantage.Quote:

don't quite agree on the hopkins thing, not now at his age, but CC for some good pointsQuote:

I don't think Taylor won all of those fights, but they were all very close, which puts him in the same league as Winky and Bernard. They're also his only close fights--whereas Hatton's most recent close fight/loss was against a virtual unknown who was on no one's top 20 p4p. The analogy doesn't work.Quote:

Totally agree. B-hop would tear Calzaghe up. Joe been gettn way too much hype from his win over Lacy, it's getting ridiculous.Quote:
