Anthony Mundine looks ahead to next challenge
June 19th, 2006- After disposing of Danny Green is stylish fashion over a month ago, Anthony ‘The Man’ Mundine is currently weighing up his options as he prepares to take on his next challenge in a proposed upcoming bout this August.
The Mundine-Green bout- which Mundine won by unanimous decision: 116-113, 118-111 and 118-112- was sanctioned as a WBA World Title eliminator; gaining Mundine the position of mandatory challenger to Denmark’s Mikkel Kessler for the WBA World Title at 168lb.
Currently negotiations are taking place between the Kessler and Markus Beyer(WBC) camps for a proposed October 14 unification bout at Brøndby Hallen in Copenhagen, Denmark. To allow this bout to take place: there will be need for both Mundine and WBC mandatory challenger, Librado Andrade, to ‘step aside’. Mundines manager, Khoder Nasser, is currently overseas negotiating with authorities as to the possible options for Mundine.

no they are stepping stone fighters.....fighters not good enough to win the titles but good enough to put in good work for an up and comer.....He's got to win against some one in the upper tier 15th or higher to be considered a real threat....until then he's just some one for Kessler to beat again until the fight with Joe C can materialize....

Re: Anthony Mundine looks ahead to next challenge

Are you a boxrec fighter that looks at rankings NOW? Do you have any idea what they were ranked when Green and Mundine fought them? And btw, you said Green loses to the upper tier fighters, he just lost to Mundine so you contradict your statement ;)
Not that you'll need me to get at you. Snakey will pretty much handle it once he sees your comments ;D

bigrag have u ever seen Mundine fight? if so which bouts?
He was thrown in with Ottke after only having 10 professional fights and no amateur career, also if memory serves me correctly he was winning the fight at the time of stoppage. :o
Lets see how well Markus Beyer does against Kessler in September, compared to how Mundine faired eh... my guess is u will re asses your opinion of him. ;)
Fact is even at 31 Mundine is improving with every fight win or lose.

as i said before you twisted my words to fit your comment....Mundine has yet to beat a top tier fighter....Green was never a top tier fighter.....he beat a stepping stone fighter but cant advance to the next level.....upper tier fighters I was talking about would be Kessler and at the time Ottke......I have never said green was an Upper tier fighter....and everyone knows that fighters with good record get over ranked until they lose to a decent fighter....then the reality and true rankings set in.....which is why having Froch(a definite up and comer) ranked so high is a little overhyped until he gets a few more fights under his belt ....top 15 fighters and the lkikes....then if he wins it will be deserved outright.....but if he loses to the 15th ranked fighter then his #3 ranking would have been way off and he probably should have been ranked in the 20's or high teens...that's all...

I know he was throw to the wolves with Ottke...and I realize the fight with Kessler might have even been a bit premature....he has built his way back up after losses that might discourage young fighters and I give him credit for that....but the fighters he has fought in the last few fights are a bit questionable and until he actually beats a top 15 I will have my doubts...I think he has the POTENTIAL to be a top teir fighter...he just isn't there yet IMO...I watched him whip greens a** and remember wishing he would hold his hands a little higher because I think it holds his speed back...and for obvious defensive reasons...I'm just waiting and seeing....

More like thrown to a sheep, and still managed to get KOED... Seriously, Ottke had like 2 KO's in his career :o

True and the funny thing is Mundine was out for like 10 minutes ;D personally I think he got hurt and quit, then once he shut his eyes he was to embarressed to open them again. :-[

Oh i was about to but theres no point and its obvious by bigragus posts. He hasnt seen mundine fight and he hadnt seen green fight coz hes basing it on boxrec rankings. Ok basing your opinion on rankings is bad but boxrec rankings...what the fuck? To say hes not top tier (i actually think ring magazine ranks him in the top 5 but hey what do they know lol) shows youve never seen him fight and that you didnt watch him against green. You can all talk about the ottke ko but who here actually has seen the full fight? Mundine was winning and was exhausted..he didnt even spar for the fight yet he was still giving a guy with much more experience a hell of a fight...even beating him. No amateur career, 10 fights...and he still nearly beats the champion and yet all you can say is "He got koed". It was a temple shot, anyone ever been hit by one? Theyre much worse then a shot to the chin coz they dont need loads of power, just to hit the right spot and your gone.

Ahhh do i have to ;D Fiiine. Ok who has kessler fought besides mundine and siaca? NO ONE! Yeah thats right no one and there is even rumours that siaca was quite sick when he fought kessler..and i do believe siaca tried for a rematch and kessler turned it down, worried about something? Maybe. He then fights mundine and does not win easily...I REPEAT, DOES NOT WIN EASILY! But he does win. Oh by the way, anyone who thinks he flogged mundine can you please take your hand off your dick and maybe get your hand on a video tape of the fight instead. ;) . I dont get it really, kessler is apparently one of the top guys in the division and he has beaten 2 good fighters and thats it. And mundine has improved a lot since that fight and dont give me that bullshit "Kessler has improved too"...hmm hows that? Prove it please. He beat lucas...who doesnt these days, he couldnt even stop him in less rounds then danny green did. Beating lucas proves nothing except that lucas is finished and needs to god damn retire. You wanna say mundine has fought nobodies but he has fought echols, siaca, kessler, danny green, sam soliman. Who has kessler beat? Siaca and Mundine...wow i see why he deserves to be number 1...not! Why not talk about lacy since im not holding anything back. Who did he beat? Sheika...hmm yeah this is hard, im trying to think of some good guys he actually beat...oooh pemberton....oh yeah not that good. See this is the reason why i dont get how calzaghes win was so great. Lacy was unproven going into this fight and calzaghe had been champion for years. Is it that calzaghe finally unified? Why so late in his career? And why did he give that Viet guy a rematch, you dont give guys who you knock out easily early in the fight a rematch, why did he give him a rematch...for an easy win. Ok i think ive said enough, now if your going to sad click me for my thoughts on kessler, calzaghe or lacy please at least tell me. ;)
Hope this helps ;) ;D

you must not have read my previous post or you wouldn't be going on a tangent like this.....I watched the Green a**whipping!!!!! I thought he is a really good looking fighter and I think he may be ready to step up....I just wish he would hold his hands up a little higher....

A temple shot from Sven Otkke is quite similar to getting a temple shot from your 6 year old sister. Only a rumour though dont quote me on it. ;D

Snakey friend :D, who are you trying to fool? A semi-fit Kessler went down under and beat the home guy from spring to desert. None of the judges had Mundine winning the same round and one of the judges had even Kessler winning 120-108 in Mundine land! So do not try to call Kessler names and said that he almost lost the fight. He won it pretty easy. Mundine had his own victory - he survived and you could see at his face after the fight that he was satisfied with that, but to win you have to take the belt not just running around for 12 rounds trying to survive….
Mundine lost to Siaca at his own turf…. – Siaca fought Mitchell and Girad in their towns but no one had ever handled him the way Kessler did.

Wouldn't say that, no one regarded Glen Johnson as a hard puncher but the temple shot he gave Roy was pretty dramatic. Anyway, Mundine had what..5 days to prepare for that fight and get down in weight? And he was winning and was exhausted..honestly as spent as Mundine was, Ottke could have sneezed and knocked him out ;)

Re: Anthony Mundine looks ahead to next challenge
When Mundine defeated Echols: Echols was rated No3 by The Ring
When Mundine defeated Green: Green was rated No5 by The Ring
Mundine has been in with the best, beaten genuine-GENUINE- top 5 fighters. Unlike all these others suggested: Who the hell has Froch even been in with, Mundine would whoop him. Up and comer... Mundine fought Solimon, Ottke and Echols by the same time Froch is at and Mundine started boxing at 25yo with no amateur career.
Mundine is from the old school, he will take easy tune ups/stay active fights but will always fight the best.
Mundine made over $5 Million against Green.

Mate if you think that fight was a complete shut out then your not a kessler fan your on fucking drugs just like fuckin judge probably was too! Mundine was injured when he fought siaca and still made it a close fight. Mundine did not run from kessler and from my memory...kessler looked very weary of mundine and mundine even had him on the backfoot. There were rounds that could of gone either way. Who cares where the fight was, we aint germany or where ever...we have neutral refs for our title fights and judges who dont even come from here so that has no meaning at all. It was in no way an easy win for kessler...he looked hell tired at the end of the fight...mundine on the other hand looked fine like he could of gone a couple more rounds which does mean...yeah he didnt do enough to win. Kessler is good mate, im not saying he isnt...but i am saying with another chance mundine can beat kessler. Kessler just came off beating Lucas...who green destroyed in less time...and Mundine recently took green to school so who fought better opponents lately?
