Mikkel Kessler - a young guy and a great champion but the Americans hate him....

Why is there so much hate against this fine boxer by Americans?

Please hype Lacy or Green all that you want, but they will NEVER be in the same leauge as Kessler....I hope that you agree - or is the problem that you hate an Europen being far far better than the best US SMWs?

listen, flashing fynbo, or royal or whoever you are. i am no hater and i dont even hate royal. the only thing that got to me about royal was the hate about lacy and the lack of respect for boxers who weren't white or from europe. what on earth did lacy do to merit such negativity? he lost his first fight against the best the division has to offer. lacy is no legend but he has done fine for a guy so short into his pro career. and he will be back.

as for kessler. i think he is a fine pro fighter. for me, he is second behind only calzaghe in the SMW ranks. he needs to make some big fights and possibly fight overseas to make his name though...

And flashing fynbo, I do know my boxing and I know it to a fair enough level. Dont start insulting my intelligence with that petty trite drivel ;)

there is no hate....we root for fighters we like.....Joe C is one of my faves....we just tend to like our fighters because we see them on TV....I don't think Kessler has ever been on US TV before....If he was and he sparked someone out he would have plenty of fans...even if he is a dane...:)

Kessler is a very good boxer...he isn't quite at the level of JC but a few more big fights and he could be well on his way.

I dont reckon people hate him, they just dont know or have seen him. I am an Aussie who has seen a couple of his fights and seen him interviewed. He is a very good fighter and a good down to earth bloke, who will go anywhere to fight. Give it time and he will have all the respect he deserves. I don’t get your point about only fighting outside Denmark twice. Had Kessler been a better fighter if he had fought ten times outside Denmark? How many times has Calzaghe fought outside England? Twice I guess and the same for Jeff Lacy fighting outside USA.

When you look at Kessler´s early pro career then you have to remember that Kessler was quite young when he turned pro. He was 18 or 19 years old but still he has only 3 guys with a negative record on his resume. The great Calzaghe has 9 or 10 guys with a negative record on his resume.

Kessler had 47 (44 wins) amateurs fight when he turned pro and was still a teenager. Lacy had like 210 fights and was about 24 or 25 years old when he turned pro.

1st of all kessler besides knowing he has a belt is virtually unknown by even the casual boxing fan... I have seen his fight once but read about his fights all the time...
