Can't wait...but Toney will outbox him.Quote:

Depending on the shape (how round that is) Toney comes in will determine how easy this fight will be for him. IF he comes in 220 or less he will box circles around Peter, if he comes in higher he will just box Peters ears off. Either way UD for Toney and then another title shot.
...I do believe this would qualify the winner for a match with pretty much any title holder. But I'm betting Wlad will be the one of choice for Sam, I have no idea about Toney, maybe he'd like a Rahman fight again.
I see James using his defense and frustrating Sam but I see Sam connecting with at least one left hook, this is where his true power will come up short!
Sam is going ot have to work his way back up the ladder, perhaps by fighting a guy like Monte Barrett or young guy like Malik Scott
I can't imagine a better heavyweight fight than this. The two standout most exciting fighters in the division facing off against each other!
This will be Toney's hardest fight of his career, Peter can really bang and Toney is naturally a super middleweight so a huge risk for Toney.
I really hope he turns up in shape for this one and if he can school Peter he will be right back up there challenging Wlad for the title of best heavyweight.
Cant' fucking wait!!
Agreed...but disagree...probably see Toney vs Wlad or the Rahman rematch.Quote:

Toney's never been KO'd & he's been hit by some of the hardest hitters in all of the classes...he'll make Peter look worse than Wlad did...BUT...Wlad will kick the shat outta Toney because of his jab.
Peter has no jab & I personally think that it's going to take a jab to beat Toney at 200...or 300...whatever he comes in at. ;D
that fight are for WBC elimination for the #1 spot.
so the winner of that fight will get a title shots.
I would have rather seen JFAT match with Wlad & Peter with Briggs...then we might have had a shot at a Peter Wlad rematch.Quote:

atleast peter has a good chin, its gonna be a long night
Toney is thinking that a win over Peter erases the memory of the Rahman fight. I think it does. Especially if he wins easily.
I would have to disagree with you on that. Peter is limited and a win over him will be easy for JFat. Depending on his circumference is how easy he wins.Quote:

I agree completely Bilbo. :coolclick:Quote:

Well said that man! Basically Toney is lucky he is indeed very very talented otherwise he wouldnt get anywhere and would have no fans as he shows no desire to get into shape like a real champion. Come on James do it for the fans!Quote:

Those wide punches will be the end of Sam Peter ESPECIALLY vs James Toney...straight punches are the only ones that can crack that defense
^ :coolclick: my thoughts exactly, unless Peter makes big adjustments its a walk in the park for Toney... or if he weighs 300+ :-\
Yep........should be an easy fight for Toney but when I say that I don't want to give too much credit to Toney. He looked like S*** in his last outing. Part of being a good boxer is learning how to control your weight win you come into a fight.
I agree with the fact though that Peter's inadequacies will lose him the fight.
Power is a great equalizer and usually the last thing to go in a fight that is peters only shot at a win...With that said James is a MASTER at his craft he is one of the premier defenders of our era and is a supberb boxer I think When Toney beats Peter it will derail the Hype train for a long time..
I want to see a focused in shape James Toney that stops fuking around and actually trains and takes the fight seriously The division needs someone like James a proven credible fighter!!!!
Anyone know if we will see this back in UK? We dont seem to get much of the Heavyweight fights over here these days. I think the last big live one was when Williams got spanked off Klitshcko. Hopefully Sky will give us this one as it seems like a decent match up and I do miss the big live fights with the big lads!
This will be a real fight. If it goes the distance, the gormet of buffets gets it. If the eating machine slows, it will be a nightmare.
hahaah cool click LYLE: "ALL U CAN EAT NIGHTMARE" hahaha u beat me to it!Quote:

Toney doesn't have to be in shape he just has to be able to throw a few punches which he didn't do much of vs Rahman.
If I'm Freddy Roach I put my foot down and say "If you aren't going to get in shape I refuse to train you"
Exactly Lyle :coolclick:!! If I was Roach I would be ashamed to call myself Jfats trainer.Quote:

Why would Toney show up to the fight in shape? What makes this any different than any other fight in Toney's eyes? Toney's energy level will plummet and he will be railroaded by Sam Peter.
Any of you played Street Fighter, Tekken, or Mortal Combat against a buttonmasher? They have no plan and no idea what the buttons do, yet they somehow manage to win by frantically pressing all the buttons at once. This is how Sam Peter will beat James Toney
I can't believe you just said Wlad made Peter look bad. I don't know maybe they fought in the amateurs or something and I missed it. When they fought as pros, I was amazed that Wlad didn't lose points or get DQed ala Akinwande. Peter took some shots coming in and when he got within distance all Wlad did was push him back very blatantly with his arms fully extended and all or grab him tightly with both arms. I'm not talking about tying up either. That was holding at it's worst and for those who didn't get to see the fight, I would advise you to and not believe all you hear. I was a Wlad fan until that night and I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that fight cause of the way rules only apply to certain fighters. That's why you can say what you will about Peter but I don't know how many guys would have still scored 3 knockdowns and made it a fight.Quote:

I'll give it to Toney though. he'll fight anybody for real.
I agree with ya ! He do take on all comers !Quote:

I liked Toney back in the day, He was arrogant, cocky, funny as hell in interviews and would definately back up what he said....
The truth is like you all say, he doesnt back down from a fight...
The question here for Peter is....
Did he learn a lesson from the Wlad fight??? Honestly, I think he did...
The thing going for Peter here is, he has room for growth, he is still young and even if he loses to Toney, it will not hurt his record or chances for good fights in the future....
Peter is also one that has taken fights that we all know would be tough for him...The past 9 out of 10 fights he took were fights with guys with winning records, maybe not all contenders, but good fighters...Julius Long was a walk fo Peter...
I thought that he should have waited a little longer to fight Wlad....But, he showed that he had heart...And he can take a punch too...
I think its going to come down to who gets off first...Toney is going to want to wear this kid down, he is hungry and really wants a big win....Toney could give a shit....Toney could lose two fights and still get a Belt fight....
I will really be watching for how these two look at the weigh ins though...
If Toney comes in sloppy and weighing 245+, I say Peter....This might sound bad, but I am thinking TKO, but might have to say SD...
If Toney comes in lookin like he has really been getting ready for a fight....then I say Toney by SD
Good Luck,
Coach...
No doubt, Toney will come in about 215-217 for this fight, But even so, He fights in the pocket , and I think that’s a dangerous place to be when fighting a heavy handed fighter like Peter, sometime late in the fight Peter will start having an effect on Toney . I see Peter winning by later R stoppage. IMO
Good call. That's how I see it myself.Quote:

As for Wlad, yeah he beat the shit out of Sam...he got hit in the back of the head twice, where were the point deductions or warnings for that. Not only did he hit Wlad in the back of the head but also Julius "The 7 foot coward" Long. Say what you will about holding, Lewis did it, Ali did it, Frans Botha, John Ruiz, etc when was the last time one of those guys was penalized for it and they did it a hell of a lot more than Wlad. Also holding doesn't kill people whereas smacking people with power punches in the back of the head can
I'll be fair with you and say that I've seen Sam Peter hit his opponent behind the head at least once every time I've watched him. I just pretend not to notice.Quote:

Where else is Peter's punch going to land if Wlad pulled him in and was so scared to get hit in the face that he turned his head. That was probably the best Wlad and surely you don't think that was the best Peter and I truly doubt Wlad will give him a rematch but if he does, it won't take too much more than what you call an unskilled brute to beat Wlad the next time around. C'mon, with all that he still had him on queer street several times in the fight so just imagine. Wake up and don't be blinded by your love for a particular fighter, Lyle. Like I said, I was a fan of Wlad myself even after he lost to Brewster and Sanders but I do not want to see him win like that. He's better than that IMO. Again you say that all these other guys did it so I guess that makes ok, huh? Boxing is not UFC or wrestling. There are different rules here so if that's what you're into you're watching the wrong sport.Quote:
