What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
I want to know what you guys thought of Pacman's performance against Chololo. I thought he looked powerful, and his defence was pretty good too but he still looks sloppy at times, when he throws straight lefts and rights, his balance is all over the place! However, that would be nit picking! His stamina was impressive too, most of us thought the longer it went, the more it would be in Larios favour. In fact, the longer it went, the more of a beating Oscar took!! All in all,a very good performance from Pacman.

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
Havent yet seen the fight but from what i heard and read Pacman destroyed him over 12 rounds!?
-
Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
Havent seen the fight yet neither - According to the other thread it is on Sky Sports on Saturday. So I will give you my opinion then. Looking forward to it as I always anjoy watching Pacquiao who is a tremendous boxer and this sounds like it was a good fight.

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
I think he was a bit tense and little cautious before his home crowd, where almost all the local celebrities and VIP's were present, and opted to box more and to evade more than usual (he was almost unscathed after the fight). Remember, he carries the weight of his whole country on his shoulders! Probably the memories of unexpected knockdowns he suffered during 2 previous fights before his home crowd may have haunted him. Another reason might be that he didn't want to take much chances before yet another big fight against Morales.
But, on the hindsight, it wasn't entirely a bad idea. He showed that he can box and still hurt his opponent, and was also able to evade most shots, all for the entire 12 rounds. He outlasted a man known for his stamina! It was a totally lopsided fight as you can see from the scores, and also, you might want to see wackooooos account of the fight, which I almost totally agree with, where he gave only a round or two for Larios. Pacman did almost everything while Larios just survived on his heart, stamina and right hand. But only strange thing that Pacman did (or maybe not do, in this case) was he didn't try to finish off his opponent when he got him; he even touched gloves after Larios came up from a knockdown! Why???!!! Just can't understand it; it was so unlikely of him. But nevertheless, it was a nice fight, albeit a bit lopsided. It showed the other aspect of Pacman we seldom see. But still, I'll give a big A+ to Larios for his heart.
-
Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
I think it was a good performance. I don't see how you can criticize it. Larrios is a good fighter. It's unreasonable to think Pac is going to walk over every fighter. Pac did what he had to do. And he got to do it in front of his home crowd. I give Pac a good solid B for his effort.

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
The only thing I noticed on a second watch was that he was open to the straight right and someone with more power could do damage and also,he did not use the right hand as much as I would have thought. I was slightly dissappointed in Larios,he showed heart to survive but he did not let his hands go and did not work the body or pump the jab often either.
I tell you 1 thing thoughj, even though I'm more of an EM fan,you can't help but like Pacman,I mean the way he carries himself and as you put it Pacfan,he ahs the weight of an entire nation yet he seems nice and humble, respectful to his opponent too.Great guy, awesome fighter,I just hope EM beats him ;D

Pac was able to evade or block most of the rights that came his way (of course you can't evade all of them all the time), and he also turned sometimes after making a shot so he won't be open for a counter. As for the body, nobody attacks the body of Pacman because that will leave his head wide open. As for Pac's right, Larios was not much of an attacker so Pac had to lunge at him and that will be more difficult to do with your weaker hand, unlike Velazquez and Morales who come forward, making them easier target for the right. But I agree Larios should have jabbed more, or maybe he should've jabbed his way out throughout.

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
well mr game,
according to the hill billies in the sports bar they were all overly impressed with PAC mans performance. they saw alot of power and stamina. the brothers in the sports bar too like his new moves where he switched angles on Larios hitting him from the complete 180 degree angle so Larios couldnt throw nothing back cuz Pac wasnt there. I personally thought yes he still has his flaws, he aint alot of jams and rights but his defense has gotten alot better. he never really moved like he did tonight i was amazed. i was more amazed how he keep coming after Larios even after Larios lands 1 or 2 jabs it like turn on the torque inside of Pac to counter or even eat a jab or two and bum rush Larios. That shows either Pac has extreme confidence now or he really refuse to get hurt in front of his hometown crowd or Larios wasnt that powerful? Maybe a lil of all three. Im sorry i have to disagree with u bro. Pac is now the hottest in the sport of boxing because of the way he brings it in each fight and ducks no one and still carries himself in the utmost respectful manner. EM is already a legend and already on the downslide of his career. If Pac fights with these new moves of defense and with the confidence he had last night then i think EM is screwed. all i know is ill be there ringside for FREE ahahaha. How many hot pinays can Bob Arum fit in the Thomas Mack center?

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
pac is becoming more and more of a complete boxer...he just keeps getting better...he was amazingly fast...the str8 left wasn't the same 1-2 str8 left with power it was a shot of speed that confuses larios and was way to slow to stop it or do anything after pac shoots it...pac seemed to hold back his power...he might of wanted to go 12 rounds for his hometown...after eachtime larios was knockdown pac just stayed calm and relax and just box larios...didn't seem he wanted to finish larios...he even gave larios chance to hit him while he was in the ropes...it was kind of brutal pac seem to play with larios during the 12 rounds...it was pacs pace the whole fight he controlled it with so much ease...
pac box counter went to the body all night and wasn't as aggressive but made it easy for himself to get the win...its what manny stewart has been saying pac can make it so easy for himself if he box with his speed he'll outbox anybody...and he can counter...pac is amazing can't deny it...he should unify the featherweight division...
we're witnessing one of the greatest fighter p4p manny pacquiao amazing lets all enjoy his era...

P4Pbro,you are the maaaaan if you go to Pac EM3,what a combo:Latinas and Pinays!!?!?!?!?! Oh yeah, and a great fight too and bro, that's what I was trying to say,I love the way Pac carries himself and look at his resume over the last 3 years:UNTOUCHABLE!! Even his bloody tune ups are tougher fights than most in the P4P lists!! I too and sadly agree, unless EM takes some tune ups and fights at a catch weight,he is screwed. I can't believe Pac's movement! Really surprised me!
What's the date for PAC-EM3? November 18 right?

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
I think pac did a good job of outboxing larios, and that's something we rarely see in pac's fights, yes he was calm and relax, one thing though! he didn't follow roach's instructions, but he has his own reasons in doing so, but a win is a win and it was a good fight, BTW i like the way larios fought, he was impressive in the way he took all the punishment and still held on to last the whole 12 rounds...
-
Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
Didn't see it. Read he dropped the guy twice.
-
Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
in each fight that he takes he shows more and more maturity, some new moves and new combos. and yes he outlasted larios who is known to have superb stamina. and to his fellow filipinos we are more impressed of his stamina knowing that prior to the fight he has made 20 or so tv commercials, some tv appearances and still has the strength to stay late at night playing pool or cock fight. hes probably one of the richest dude here in the philippines but still keeps a low profile and stays humble.FYI during christmas season at his house at gensan he invites poor families to his house he gives them food and money. but for some weird reason he didnt wanted to finish larios at all, people wer shouting "tapusin mo na manny!" finish him already!, during the fight.
as for larios, he gained the respect of my country! not only because he survived the full 12 rounds and an iron chin but also because of his personality.
-
Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
all in all it was a great fight. Oscar showed he is tough and he could get another belt at that weight class, just not the one that pac has. I dont think anybody can get their hands on pac's belt he is an animal. And I really think he can unify the weight class and he can have a great era. Let us just relax sit back and enjoy his time which is now and still coming beause he is getting better all the time. But if Oscar would have just landed a few to the body in the third when pac was on the ropes he might have put him down. But pac is an animal and imo no one can beat him at this time not at that weight class.
-

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
On the contrary Pacquiao is no humble guy...come on fellow Filipinos. Manny is an arrogant fighter and you know it. Its not wrong to be arrogant. Filipinos know this better than the rest of the world because interviews with Pacquiao in Filipinos reflects his arrogance more than when he tries to speak English. Ill translate 1 for you. When asked if Larios hurt him at any point during the fight he said no, come on pacman even you should admit that Larios got you good in the 3rd round. My heart jump when i saw Pacman loose his legs for a few seconds and eyes wondering in lala land.

dude if he still wasnt humble for a RICH boxer, there wont be a single humble boxer in the world...
have you seen a tyson press con or a tarver post fight interview!?!
he was hurt because of the flurry but he wast groggy at all....
remember every punch hurts but not every punch makes you see stars...
even i can hurt him ;D
you saw it, he never tried to clinch which is your instinct if you are hit badly
and also, he had took punches from boxers who hits harder than larios...
and he had never went down even against those elites
(read: his KO loss was against bums)

ahah what an idiot!!!
hater!!!...pac gave larios a chance...larios was throwing the best he had...pac just took it and countered...if he was really hurt he would of just covered up or got of the ropes...plus what fighter has ever said yes when ask if he was hurt...funny morales barrera marquez said pac never hurted them...yea they all got dropped...pac never lost his legs at all...the left hook that caught him he took it well...larios then was going for everything he kept throwing right hooks but pac took it and countered and cut larios left eye in that same round...
pac is the most humble boxer ever...larios left saying pac wasn't just a great champion but was a great person as well...you lie you ain't no filipino...in interviews that he has in tagalog...he is very close to the interviewer and jokes with them...never he puts any person down...he stays down to earth...
-
Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
A fighter really doesn't say he got hurt just because a fighter had a godo round. Fighters like to say he caught me with a good punch or admit he had a good round before he'd admit that the other guy hurt him...its funny you bring up arrogance since one of the most arrogant fighters the Mickey Mouse Hamed would openly state when he was hurt. Pacquiao never said it because maybe he wasn't? I haven't seen this fight but heard it was a beatdown.

I'm not sure who ask the quetions to PAC when he said No( he wasn't Hurt ), He didn't say he wasn't hurt what he said was he was hit by a strong punch by larios...that's what i saw and heard in the interview with Dyan Castillejo ....
-
Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
he wasn't hurt at all period...he was countering from the ropes and was very relax there...he played with larios easily enough said... :P

Hey my Pinoy brothers,is Manny arrogant? I didn't think he was and also,in the after match interview,I think he said Larios caught him well in the third?Yeah,Larios was class afterwards, and how the heck he took that punishment for 12 rounds only he will ever know!!!

[b]Pacquiao did a great job even if he just trained for only 6 weeks for that fight the power is still there the speed, good lateral movements plus he got a new boxing style THE NO LOOK PUNCH hahaha!!! ;D

I agree that he isnt as humble as he once was but he is still more humble than about 95% of other boxers out there...pac has so many people wispering in his ears that he can do no wrong thats its bound to affect him. but about not getting hurt i dont really think he was hurt, he was just caught by punch he dint see,,he just weathered Lario's storm and then went on the attack and i thought won the round.

I watched the bout on site. The Pac was good (though still lacking in a lot of ways) but I must give a lot of credit to Lariros.
He was able to withstand a lot of the Pac attacks and fought like he was never hit. He had a lot of heart. After the match, he poured the champ with a lot of praises and didn't give himself much credit for the round where he almost had the PAC.
Overall, he fought well and was a real gentleman after the fight. The Filipinos cheered for the PAC but gave Larrios a standing ovation for being such a Lion.

Good post. Well said & welcome to the forum.
Have the Obligatory Wacko Welcome Wagon :coolclick:
I thought that Larios did quite well also...he lasted the duration & Pac seemed to respect that just as much as the fans & Larios did.

Re: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance.
Overall I think fight was great, both fighters deserved to be applaud, give respect for Larios, showing lot of hearth and determination.I wouldn't mind to see rematch maybe after Morales fight. They are great for boxing more now when HW devision is so weak. I think Pacman did great job still need to improve his defense but on the end both fighters show lots of respect toward each other.
