UFC is nothing compared to Pride
Pride is where the real talent is

Pride all the way, it has less rules too

I also enjoy watching MMA. UFC/Pride put on good cards with 4-6 fights per card, and their fights are usually vrey competitive. UFC gives you some decent fights on free tv 3-4 times a year and both UFC's and Pride's ppv are usually cheaper than typical boxing ppv. I've dones some boxing training as well as some MMA(BJJ, sub grappling) so I enjoy not only the striking but also the subtlties of the ground game which can bore some viewers. I still love boxing but with all of the alphabets, bad decisions, and the fact that we have to wait years for certain fights to happen not to mention pay out the nose for every fight I too find myself watching MMA a little more often. Lets not start the nuthugging on Pride either. Everyone knows that Pride pays more and has more talented fighters. It is an international fighting org. UFC is a regional group. It is like comparing a NABF champ and the WBC. UFC is the premier org in N. America. Dana White is being smart by filling his ranks with young American fighters to appeal to his viewers. Yes they are raw and need work but they come to fight everynight and put on a good show. All that being said UFC has the highest rated WW, MW and LHW in the world.

Yeah they dont seem to care about putting a loss on there record so much either :dontknow:

The best are fighting the best all the time, If they lose then they just have a rematch!...

If Ricky Hatton and Floyd Mayweather were in UFC or MMA they would have fought eachother a long time ago!



Who's your pick for Tito v Ken Shamrock 2 ?

Boxing's still my first love by the way :box3:

I like Ken and I know he wasn't 100% last time they fought, but unless he has really changed his training regiment up I expect him to look good for maybe a round then get beaten soundly. Ken is just too old and I think the sport has evolved and he hasnt. I'd love to be proved wrong though.

I started off with MMA and will always be no1 for me i guess. However, through MMA i started looking into Boxing and Mauy Thai and i guess more and more fighters in MMA are beginning to respect the sweet science of boxing. I got into boxing cus i wanted to broaden my knowledge on the standup game and u cant help but love the sport of boxing once u begin to understand the technicalities of it and so on. Its good to see a lot of MMA's elite fighters working on their boxing a lot ie Emelianenko brothers, Arlovski, Crocop, Gomi, Franklin etc. F.Emelianenko has stated that they decided their youngest brothers base will be boxing and later they will add Sambo, BJJ etc to his arsenal b4 they throw him into MMA. I guess we should respect all these contact sports ie MMA, K-1 and Boxing. Each are spectacular in their own way and entertaining to watch ;D ;D

i actually saw the gracie vs. hughes match a few weeks back
it was.......................CORNY
the pre fight interviews were absurd
this stuff doesnt even compare to boxing
no matter.............its the latest trend, it will be gone inside of 10 years imo

There is no way it will be gone in 10 years no way, not going anywere MMA is not the latest trend UFC hit main stride in the early 90's and hasnt looked back every year it gains in popularity ,momentum and the sanctioning bodies and state athletic committees have been more accepting to allow these events to take place in different states.. In Japan were Pride FC is(IMO is the best ) there filling colosiums everytime when these events take place.Coming up on 16 years and going strong is far from a trend...

Lyle I think you aren't being very objective. I think the number of people that hold the HW champ in the highest regard of fighting skills is dropping quickly. The rise of popularity and awareness of MMA can't be denied even if it isn't you personal favorite. If someone thinks that the HW champ of the world; who is the best in a one dimensional combat sport; is the finest combatant in the world then they are simply biased or ignorant. And its a little absurd to refer to MMA fighters as faggots b/c their sport involves a certain level of grappling. I enjoy watching both sports, and appreciate the nuances of both the sweet science and the variety of MMA. Just b/c you don't like grappling and submissions doesn't make them appealing. Entertainment value is as subjective as they come. But the rising numbers in tv viewing, PPV buys, tickets sold, etc in regards to MMA would lend one to believe that people feel watching mma is anything but boring.

When there is ONE heavyweight champ he is held in high regard...hence the question "What would they have to give you to fight Mike Tyson?"

Anyone from Pride, UFC, or any MMA style inspired that kind of fear?

Yeah there are people who watch MMA fighting....there are also people who like watching "Wrasslin" that doesn't make it a SPORT though

I'm not saying that the HW champ isnt held in high regard but not as the premiere combat fighter in the world. And yes Fedor Emelianko is feared in the MMA world. He is widely considered practically unbeatable and a completely well rounded fighter. Comparing MMA to professional wrestling and insinuating it isn't a sport is simply inflammatory and ignorant. We get it. MMA isn't your cup of tea but don't sully your well earned reputation on this forum by running off at the mouth about a SPORT that you obviously know nothing about.

there is a fighter in pride that instills more fear in people than mike tyson ever did ....FEDOR!!!!! now nobody wants to fight that guy, infact i over heard two bouncers at the boxing gym talking about how tough this guy is...the guy is a machine! he is compared to the likes of...robocop and terminator! :)
