Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
i think pac has showned improvement in his previous fights
and he will totally dominate morales
wont give him any chances
and tko him in the 10th round
morales will always be a warrior
but i personally dont think he has enough left in the tank
and even if he gives it his best like he probably will do
it wont change the fact that pac is the man with more power and speed
and thats something you cant denie
a hell of a gameplan wont keep pac from destroying morales

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
IS this weekend the Cory Spinks fight?
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
Morales will win. Everybody saying Morales is shot is only adding to his fuel. Morales has always been a prideful man. After getting stopped last time, there is no doubt he's more motivated than ever.

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
Pacqiao, I am not saying Morales is shot but seriously pac is getting better and is not getting any weaker so I dont think there is anyone at that weight that can beat him, he will have a great era and when he looses it will be a shocker to everyone just like when MAB lost to him. So lets just enjoy his fights, pacqiao tko in the 8th.

An Error Has Occurred!
Sorry Violent Demise, Wacko can't repeat a karma action without waiting 24 hours...but you know he wants to!!!
Totally agree 100%. I want Morales to go for the kill of the knockout...but...a 12 rounder in his favor wouldn't hurt either.
;D
I voted Morales by decision.

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
To be honest I cant pick a winner this at this early stage. PAC obviously has the momentum as he is on a winning streak and is looking awesome. Morales meanwhile has been staying away from the limelight getting his thoughts together about this decider...
I need to wait more on this and like you are doing Wacko, watch the previous fights some more to decide where the next fight could go...
I picked PAC last time out, but Im in no way gonna rule out Morales at this early stage....we dont know what he has left in the tank or what plans will emerge from his camp...He knows he can't let a repeat of last time out happen...
An intriguing contest either way....

Me either...but I'm going to. I'm going with my bwoy this time.
I gotta pull out all the stops atleast hoping that he comes up with the performance of a lifetime...if not...he's gonna get his ass handed to him again.
I just hope that all this time he's taken...I just hope that he's using it correctly. I hope that he doesn't let the KO go to his head & fwocks his game up.

Don't babe...it didn't do jack shat but confuse me...& sure as shat don't sit through all the Mexi-conquests...I just got finished with the Marquez fight.
Oddly enough...even though he ko'd Morales...Barrera, IWO, got the worst of it.
My wife hates my DVD burner. ;D
"Look how cool, hon! I have 'em all on one disc & theyr'e bookmarked & labled."
Heh heh heh heh. It's a shocker that I still have a miniature set of church bells clanging between my legs. ;D

:coolclick:, Right back....and im glad to know the church bells are all in order, nothing worse than the church bells going awry ;D
The mental aspect of this fight is going to be a key part of the build up and preparation, especially so for Morales....How does Morales come back from being stopped for the first time? Well, he's been taking his time, the build up and fun is all gonna ensue....
I cant wait for November.....Bring it!!!! ;D

It's all going to be what's going on in the brain of Morales. We all know that Pac is set...no ifs &'s or buts. He's set. EM is a totally different story.
I just don't believe that someone that has been invulnerable his entire career that suffers a shocking KO like that will just come right out & go at it like gang busters...could be wrong...but I don't think so.

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
PACMAN by total demolition of Morales... PAC got pissed with Morales all talk... Imagine Morales saying that he's the one who made PACMAN famous?
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
I voted Pac for KO win...if its true that he will begin his training in August, then he will have a better chance of beating EM again....
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
Em needs to:
Go to Pac's body(:he has been koed earlier in his career by bodyshots)
Not go to war ALL the time
Wear the 8oz gloves,he may break his hands but he needs to go allll out and look at how many times he has stopped Manny in his tracks with the pillows.
Start training NOW and make sure he does not get drained again.
and even after all of this,I still feel Manny has the edge but hopefully Erik's Honour will allow him to elevate himself one las time.He is also back with his father for this fight(his father was not in the corner for the last fight),maybe that will have a bearing.
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
imo i think EM needs a tune up fight to gauge where he is, as far as desire for the game and conditioning go. if EM can make weight w/out killing his body i give him the boxing edge, but if not i give pac the brawling edge. i hope EM is still hungry, and not hungry for the buffet but rather hungry for the glory.
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
i don't know about em...most recent pic i've seen of him...he look about 160 pounds maybe not but he look much fatter then ever...and he seem to be doing more talking about pac then preparing for another storm...why anger the storm when your getting your self in the middle of its might...
I have my doubts on em...alot of talk he may not even make weight...he may just want this last ppv pay day and hyping it up now so it'll be such an anticipated fight come november...
no denying pac speed and power...now showing boxing skills and quick counters...I can't see em winning at all...even if it was the best morales that ever should up in a boxing ring...
pac is a beast...its for sure pac will come in shape...I just hope its one hell of a fight to remember both warriors...
when its all said and done...pac will be the clear winner...i don't want to say by k.o hopefully em lose standing but it may be a destruction and his corner may stop it...

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
I'd agree,Pac did get more famous by koing Morales so EM is right although whether he means that interpretation,I don't know. I';m sure Pac's stock rose after the first fight too,he put in a great performance there.
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
For Morales to win he has to
fight with his head and not his heart
Make sure all the prep is done so he is 100% on the night
stay focused throughout and dont lose composure
Try to put Pac on the back foot
Hands should be high and adopt a stiff jab
For Pac to win he has to
Set the tempo and a pace Morales cant match
Make the Mexican use his ageing legs
Throw his punches in bunches
Be a more evasive target than he was against JMM
Employ a body punching strategy and stick with it
If both of them fight to the best of their ability its hard to seperate them . Erik is past it now but is still capable of skooling Pac even at 80%.It will be hard for Pac to reach the intensity of the 2nd fight so I expect Morales to be better and Pac not quite as good . I can even see a draw but if I had to go 1 way it would be the younger fresher Pac on points

If I wasn't horrible about putting things into words I'd create a looooooooooooooong post about just how Pac will be knocking Morales out, but seeing that I'm southern illiterate like Lyle I'll keep it short
Pac KO late again

I have to disagree with you with that one GAME. PAC did lose to a bodyshot because he had to lose 17 pounds overnight years ago at 112lbs. He used to have a suspect body, but not anymore. Morales just needs to BOX, BOX, BOX. Stay away, use his jab, hit him with his overhand right, frustrate PAC, and dance away(very fast)... Thats the only way he can beat PAC, If Morales tries to go for the body he's gonna hit on the head, thats why so many opponents stop hitting PAC in the body, because PAC counters to the head or gives multiple combos to the body. It hurts so much, that they stop going to the body and defend...We all know PAC is going after Morales body!!! and at 130 lbs and aging quickly, PAC will target the gut without a doubt, and Morales will lose trying to trade body shot for body shot....He need to use his boxing skills and frusrate PAC out of his game...
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
i always thought morales had one of the best chin of all time after the 1st fight with pac...
cuz before that fight, pac just koed a thai by a left uppercut that kazzooomed the thai up on the air...
and on the 1st round of that fight, pac hit em with flurries of punches...
and to my surprise, WOW!! he didnt even wobbled and he even came back with his own combos!!!
what a chin, i said...
pac lose that fight...
his camp made a lot of doubtful excuses about it...
about the blood test issues..
(they said pac was forced to be drawn 2 liters of blood 2 days before the fight)
i didnt believe them..
but on the 2nd fight, round 2..
we all saw the 'statement' pac gave about his real power...
EM was back pedalling (the ropes saved him) after getting hit by a left cross as if he was drunk
he almost looked he just got ankle-breaked by allen iversons crossover
that made me think up to this time pac was really cheated on the 1st fight
they were silent about this because they got the $$$$$ when they sued his ex promoter
that also made me think that no one could take pacs punches
(larios was never hit by the left where in both of pacs feet are planted on the canvass,
it was all leaning lefts that he needs to control his power for balance because he was moving to larios's back and maybe for some personal reasons he didnt KILL larios ;D)
if anyone is hit by a looooonnnnngggg left from pac they wont take it well
because even the granitechinned EM didnt
all he need is a good game plan and
his speed and power will make him emerge victorious on the rubbermatch
-
Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
Good points Racso but there is absolutely no way at this stage in his career that EM can just box box box Pac and as Pac is sooo aggressive, anyone who fights him has to go to war somewhere in the fight which is why I said EM should choose his moments.

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
Pacquiao may have a tougher go this time cause Morales doesn't wanna go down again, but in the end the Pacman will be standing with his arms raised in victory with another KO

Barerra made Pacquiao famous before Erik Morales did. Morales just proved that Pacquiao wasn't a fluke.

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
I find it intriguing how so many think Morales is going to get KO'ed again....
We must remember that Morales was more than holding his own for the first half of the last fight and he won the first fight effectively. If Morales can ensure that his conditioning is absolutely on the button then he has the basis with which to make the fight more competitive than the last one. Morales needs to work more on his defence which was shambolic at times last time out, with Manny being able to hit at will. He needs to keep his hands higher and try and move in and out of range effectively. He needs his legs for 12 rounds, so needs to be fit and needs to try and avoid taking unnecesary punishment.
For me, the keys are Morales' conditioning, his mental approach to this and the strategy he adopts in the ring.
The fight is a pick 'em IMO but the popular sway is going with Manny....I though am resolute in not counting out a Morales at the age of 31, who will be fighting from the trenches...

All good comments bro, but I feel Morales is a old 31. Pacquiao would love a war, his faster hands & power would give him the edge. Morales should work on his defense but its hard to stop a whirlwind!

Morales only turns 30 on Sept. 1. Erik is only 2 years older than Manny after all. He actually had a harder time beating the scales in the 1st fight. If you remember back then, he spent a lot more time and effort draining at the weigh-in and even had to strip down to his birthday suit. That’s in stark contrast to the rematch where he made 129 or so on the fist go without a hitch. If his weight issues were gonna give him problems, then they had more reason to pop up during their first meeting.
For my part, what I find intriguing is how a lot of his fans point out what he was able to do in the 1st fight, but in the same vein fail to appreciate the obvious adjustments Pacquiao made in the rematch that have rendered Erik’s blueprint obsolete and almost completely useless. To their credit, Team Pac Man figured Erik out and learned from their experience against him in the past and this time came up with a sound plan for success. It’s now Erik and his people’s turn reciprocate that by upping the ante in the rubber match. However, not only must they figure out what went wrong the last time out, they must also anticipate any new moves by Pacquiao AND spring new surprises of their own.
Like Larios found out the hard way, Pac’s a machine dishing out relentless pain constantly chipping away at your stamina and health if you let him. What’s good for Larios is that he never had to endure the type beating to the BODY that Pac gave Morales. That was the key to breaking down Erik and leaving him open to the head. If he raises his guard to cover his face, that’ll leave him open to the midsection and vice versa.
But it’s not as straightforward going to the body as it sounds. Pac had to show a few more wrinkles in his game that enabled him to penetrate Erik’s defense, particularly his vastly improved right hand and some impressive lateral movement that was many times able to spin Erik around. Unlike before, Erik now had to deal with a quick moving two-fisted target who was picking his shots intelligently and wasn’t always going for broke… and horror of horrors was actually counterpunching! Pac made it a lot harder for Erik to get set up with his own offense and was also at the same time protecting himself a lot better than he ever did (but he still gets hit a lot for my tastes).
If you fail to control the pace by outboxing him, then you’d be in big trouble and Pac clearly has the advantage if he’s allowed go into blitzing mode. And the damage Erik was accumulating only help wore him out and slowed him down further and made it easier for Pac to back him up and pile up the pain as the fight progressed. Pac is one of the best conditioned boxers when primed for a super fight and could sustain that kind of torrid pace, speed and pressure for more than 12 rounds, and he’s displaying a lot more variety in his attacks and an improving defense. When Pac took control of the fight after Erik substantially slowed and weakened, it was only a question of whether Erik could reach the final bell or not.
Pac is a work-in-progress Elite. His boxing repertoire wasn’t as limited as it was when he was a 122 Champ who challenged and bludgeoned Barrera – another legend who was then considered THE featherweight – into submission and he continues to improve with every fight as he approaches his prime. Although as we’ve all seen, it wasn’t always smooth sailing getting Pac 100% ready for his opponents. Nevertheless, he was ready for the rematch and had other ideas from what Morales might have envisioned. For Pac’s foes to overcome him, they must 1st come to grips with the fact that he’s no longer as one-dimensional as they would like to believe and that he’s getting better and better. That way, they’ll know what they’re really up against on fight night and not be caught off guard. That goes for their fans as well.

Nice posting :coolclick:
With Pac's stock having risen as it has and with him showing continuous signs of development, his opponents now realise exactly what they are up against. Morales is gonna have to dig deep to keep this rubber match competitive. The preparation needs to be pristine, his conditioning and mental approach need to be spot on. If not then it could turn one sided very quickly.
I dont want to pick this one so early, when we really dont know what Morales has left mentally or physically. Its how he responds to the challenges in the months ahead that will inform us of what might potentially happen in the ring. We know where Pac is at right now, its all about whether Morales is really able to bring something extra to the table in this one. This is the key unknown variable at play...

Re: Pacquiao vs Morales III. Who wins it, how, & why?
The only way Morales can win against Pacman is to try outboxing him by continuously countering and earning points for the decision. Conditioning I think won't matter much as Larios fight has shown clearly, with Pacman outlasting the Mr. Conditioning himself! He should've learned never to engage Pac in an all-out war because Pac came out the winner in most exchanges. Pacman showed some new moves against Larios and also showed improved defense, getting hit lesser than in any of his previous fights. Surprisingly, he was counterpunching effectively this time - the mistake Larios made by making himself the aggressor. Another new move was his hit and turn tactic used very effectively, giving no chance for Larios to counter except his smile of approval.
His strategy against Larios basically was:
1) Lunging and 'reachin out' right hand jab to harass Larios and lure him into attacking so he can counter;
2) Hit and turn strategy;
3) Hit and retreat;
4) The so called 'stonewall' glove defense of Winky effectively blocked many shots;
5) Evading shots effectively when attacked and countering furiously afterwards;
6) Better movement to confuse the opponent;
7) Better head movement and other evading technics, resulting in his being hit less than before;
8) Some body shots but much lesser than in the Morales fight; and
9) His favorite 1-2-3 combinations when countering.
What I wanted him to do more:
I wanted him to try his uppercut, a good offensive weapon he didn't use much since knocking out Fahsan 3kBattery off the ground with it. I wanted him to set up his left straight more - a dedicated left straight that is his biggest punch, the one that knocked Barrera and Marquez down (he has recently been concentrating on his combinations that he forgot to set up his big left; combos take some steam out of a punch as it loses some momentum during the withdrawal phase because the fists have to be withdrawn immediately after every shot - the withdrawal motion of the fists takes some momentum from the shot). I also wanted him to use more left hooks, a dedicated one at that - ever since he developed his Manila Ice right hook, he seemed to have forgotten his left hook (remember, that's still his stronger hand), the one that knocked Lucero with one shot. And lastly, he should not let up on improving his defense, a move that can make or unmake him in the future because that is his biggest weakness. I think if he perfect his defensive moves, he will be unbeatable.
And so who do I think will win? As long as Pacman is well conditioned, he will win by KO because no matter what condition Erik will be in, he won't be able to cope with Pacmans furious assault for the entire 12 rounds, IMO.

What's wrong with that?  To a point he did.
Barerra made Pacquiao famous before Erik Morales did.  Morales just proved that Pacquiao wasn't a fluke.
:coolclick: so true, angel eyes. pacquiao was then starting to make a name for himself that's why he was tapped to face barrera as a quick replacement and that win established pacman as a force to reckon with. the morales win just validated manny as one of pound4pound bests.
pacfan, i have to disagree. conditioning would mean everything in the pac-morales rubbermatch. erik, unlike larios has the skills to match or even outbox manny as shown in the early rounds of their previous meetings. even roach knows that manny have to come in the best condition ever to have the edge against erik. motivation is also vital which of course morales has plenty of cos this fight could very well cap his career. anyways, i think manny will still win by unanimous decision or catch morales again late in the rounds.

I beg to disagree there pare, it was their strategic decision not to engage Morales in the early rounds. Remember when Morales came very strong in the first round that got Pac pissed off? he came back on a path of revenge on the second, deviating from their game plan, and almost had Morales knocked down - that proves Pac could've chosen to fight Morales anytime in the fight when he wanted and still win the round. But cooler heads prevailed and he went back to their original plan from the third by letting Morales do his work early - and early to bed. Contrary to what the boxing analysts said, most of whom were very reluctant to give Manny any credit, it was not Morales who lost his steam on the 6th, but it was Pac who started to put pressure on Morales who had spent lot of precious energy in the previous rounds. That was their strategy, to go easy on the first half and to press hard on the second half, putting pressure on Morales, sapping his energy little by little and go for the late KO. That worked perfectly to the tee. I think they got the idea when they probably noticed that Morales almost lost his legs on the 12th round in their first fight when Pac put up a last ditch effort to stop him (I still can't believe how a badly cut and conditioned Pac had so much energy left on the 12th in that fight). Remember, Morales went down to his knees on the 12th during his first fight with Barrera; I think that's been his weakness all along. But I won't totally rule out a decision next time, not because of the Larios fight - I think Pac didn't put up any real effort to stop him... Miss the good ole victory days, no? we were all so elated those days that it was almost craaaazy.
