Corrales fears Casamayor
After just watching FNF, I think it's obvious Corrales fears Casamayor. What's this bring me a title bullshit? Corrales is coming off a knock out loss! Corrales should be 0-2 against Casamayor and he knows it
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
Well he should be scared. He lost twice and has tasted the canvas 3 times in their fights with each other. His best offensive slugging output and boxing output wasn't enough to stop or knockout Casamayor and he obviously can't outbox him so he has reason to fear him. Same reason Freitas fears Casamayor. 3 points were taken away that shouldn't have been and even then Casamayor would have only won by a point and thats ridiculous! He won that fight by about 5.

Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
I just call it like I see it. But Casamayor should by all intents and purposes be undefeated. He's got hall of fame credentials, he beat Freitas(unbeaten) Corrales twice, Castillo and Almazbek Raiynkulov(undefeated). The Corrales Castillo fight was a battle of two Casamayor opponents who didn't want a rematch and its fucked up that Casamayor gave Corrales a rematch he didnt have to but Corrales doesnt'want to give Casamayor a third shot and why? because he knows he lost both times. But I really think it's unfair to ask for a rematch, then get it and then not give the other person a third fight if they ask for it. If Casamayor didn't give Corrales that rematch where is Corrales today? On ESPN every 4th week.
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
Yeah Casamayor is the better of the two, but what has he done lately & remember the Draw with Kid Diamond (could have easily been a loss) You gotta give Corrales respect he'd fight anyone, I'd love to see a 3rd fight between Corrales & Casamayor, seems to me like the best fight available for Corrales. I'd have to take Casamayor on a decision though.
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
If Corrales was ever gonna give Casamyor a rematch he would have given it to him right after the 2nd fight but he rather go and face a guy Casamayor already beat(Freitas)
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
Casamayor didn't look to great tonight though, maybe he would step it up against a better opponent like Corrales but he still missed a lot of easy shots. His opponent was covering up for long periods of time and Casamayor refused to go downstairs to an open body, he instead beat away at the gloves and slipped very few shots through when he did have a very clear opening.
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
He went where the money was, can't blame him for that. Fretias was still technically undefeated so was considered higher up the chain.

Pretty much. Casamayor is a good fighter, don't know why he is all of a sudden #1 contender though, last time out he got a draw against Kid Diamond, whom he deserved a W against, and tonight beat a solid veteran. He appears to be slowing down. Corrales outboxed him the second time around for sure IMO. Corrales is lucky to have been Knocked out last fight and still be champ though. Honestly I think Freitas and Casamayor should fight it out and have the winner face Chico again.

Casamayor fought tonight? where?

On FNF against Lamont Pearson. Stopped him on a cut, but Pearson didn't want any more by then was runnin and had just been unofficially dropped.

Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
Casamayor is definately the top contender @ lightweight, followed by Julio Diaz. Freitas isn't even in the picture

Yes, if I had not seen the fights (or the highlights from last night ) I would have thought that Casamayor left on a stretcher by the way Corrales talked. He sounded ridiculous. CC

it was not casamayors best outing, but its not like he was being dominated.......and i thought corrales was willing to fight w/ anybody, what was w/ all the title bull? id like to see a rematch between the 2 actually.

Re: Corrales fears Casamayor

Thankfully it was a competitive fight as opposed to the fights on there earlier this week and the undercard last night. I can't remember his name but the 19 year old fighter who fought last night I'd like to see more of.
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
8) Casamayor was lucky to get the KO over Corrales because should have never took that fight with Castillo not even able to make weight he was much heavier than Corrales when he scored the KO. When Corrales KOd Castillo they both weighed in the same. It was the right move for the Corrales camp not to let Corrales fight Castillo when he was that much heavier again or they would have been giving up a big advantage! 8)

I don't think Corrales fears any fighter...You have to remember Diego has been in some wars..W/L/D he has been in some tough ones...Not every fight can be a war...No harm in taking a few fights that wont be all out slugfest...Freitas though not what he used to be is a top ranked opp...In sure a rematch with Casamayor is in the future but...Corrales is one of the few fighters who's heart has never been in question..he has proven he isn't afraid to taste canvas or go out blazing...let's not dog one of the few fighters left who actually leave everything they have in the ring be it for the better or the worse

Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
Thats most ridiculous statements about Corrales scared of Casamayor.

Corrales should be 0-2 against Casamayor. Only a fool would say otherwise.

Well call me a fool then. What did Casamayor do in the second fight besides drop Corrales then follow him around getting popped and outboxed?

He backed him up most of the fight and seem to land most of the big shots. Fool

Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
How anyone can say Corrales is afraid of Casamayor is totally beyond me. He has shown time and again that he's not afraid to take a beating. IMO he is one of the few fighters out there that actually will fight anyone. Despite the fact that some may consider his win over Casamayor dubious he DID fight him again after Casamayor stopped him. In terms of ring wear, Corrales is about 38 years old and I think at this point in his career he knows it would be a mistake to take a fight with so little benift and such high risk just to prove that he isn't afraid. I think he's already done more than enough to show us he isn't.
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
If Casamayor get serious about a fight and trains like he shoud I think he beats anyone. He has a passion to get back at Corrales and Diego knows this. I'm not saying he is scared, but I think he knows what he's up against and rightfully does not want to risk it unless Casamayor has something to offer. Until than (when the money is big enough) don't expect Corrales to give him the chance.

If Corrales fears no one why didn't he fight Cepillo a second time?

That broad did Corrales a favor. He was getting hammered in that first fight.

Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
Corrales was starting to take control when the first fight was stopped. But in the second I feel he was lucky to get the nod. I reckon Casamayor would knock Corrales out in a 3rd

It's obvious you got your fights comfused. The round before it was stopped, Casamayor nearly broke Corrales jaw and completely dominated the round.

Cuz he didn't want another TKO loss on his record. Which was going to happen anyway if the fight wasn't stopped.

Man you think Casamayor was robbed against Castillo, so there is no sense debating further with you. To me its evident Casamayor is still a good fighter but has slipped a little, otherwise Kid freakin Diamond wouldn't have had a close fight with him. The same Kid Diamond who was shut out and destroyed by Nate Campell, the same Campell who got screwed against Casamayor.

I like Casamayor but you did not see some of his fights right because he was clearly beaten by Raiynkulov (robbed by judges) and castillo.
I did notice though that Corrales contridicted himself when he said "hey I gave you your opportunity, I took your title, now bring me something and I will give you an opportunity. Corrales was a bit flustered but I would not call him scared.

It's funny how you defend Gayweather and bash Corrales for basically the same situation. ???
-
Re: Corrales fears Casamayor
I highly doubt Corrales fears Cas,but maybe he was a bit apprehensive to fight him a third time. The first fight was close because Casamayor was allowing it to be by trying to outbrawl Corrales but towards the end of the fight,Corrales was gaining the upperhand. As for the second fight,Joel made it close with the knockdown but there is no way you can say he won,a draw at best. He took waaaaaaay too long to get started and Chico outboxed him for long periods.
