Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
Ok, I know I'm supposed to be a patriotic Brit, but every time an Amir Khan fight comes around I end up screaming at the telly for him to get knocked the fuck out.
Am I alone in this?
Everything about him just pisses me off. Just reading an article about him on the bbc news website, he's saying 'I'm not even 20 yet, so imagine how good I'll be when I'm 21!'
Cock :fyou:

Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
haha cc here here i do the same. i want amir to win but as soon as the fight starts im shouting for the opponent to knock him out ;D
-
Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
I personally feel sorry for the lad. Ultra hyped in The Frank Warren side show. Not saying he can't fight cos I think the lad is talented but he needs to stem his mouth and cut out the showboating or it'll be Naz mk II
I want him to go all the way though so, no, in answer to your question :D
-
Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
I hope he goes far, though I do hope he avoids the pitfalls that eventually got to Naz....Being so far from home Im pretty distanced from all the hype surrounding him, so so far Ive no ill will against him...

Whats wrong with that? he's no where near his physical prime... its a decent enough point... ;) fighters need confidence in their abilitys before they step into the ring ;)
I agree to a certain extent... he needs to get hurt by a shot so he'll keep his hands up and stop fucking about as much...

Although am big fan of Khan but I agree wif ya he was being a 'bit' cocky there, but Most boxers do that. Amirs opponent Colin Bain, nobody has even heard of him and he was acting so cocky and being so rude.http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=7351&more=1 << Check That. Bain was not taking that as a boxin fight he was takin it as Scotland Vs England.

Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
amir khan is the future of british boxing.....
most likely anyway 8)
-
Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
yes i agree but when hes moving backwards he puts he guard down and if hes up against a hard hitter cant afford to do that he needs to work on hes defence alot but i think hes got the talent to go far.

Its not about being confident. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogence. Every thing that you have mentioned could be applied to why I hate Zab Judah, but mainly because he is a looser.
Khan is a very talented young fighter, but as with all talented british sportmen, everyone gets carried away. When Khan first came on to the scene I liked his attitude, but since he's signed with Frank Warren you can see that its changed, and continues to do so. He seems to be believing the hype, which is dangerous in the world of boxing. I know that he respects Naz's career and get advice from him, but he learn from what Naz did wrong as well. Naz beat himself.
By making comments like Khan has done, he has put pressure on himself. He should just let his boxing do the talking. When you make comments and statement then you had better live up to them, and when that moment come when you don't perfom (and it always does) then people will always remember what you said.
It is not always the best or most talented fighter that win the fight. Arguably the best thing for Khan's career in the long term could be for him to be caught clean and stopped by a no name fighter now so that he see's some reality. Its all well for him to show boat now with his hands down and beat up on these tomato soup cans, but when he steps in with a quality fighter it will be too late for him to learn.
If I was his manager or trainer, I'd be keen for him to go to PBF's traingin camp as a sparring partner. What ever you think of PBF he is professional when it comes to preparing for a fight. Also Khan will feel first hand what the best really is, and the level he has to achieve.
I do hope he does well, but I doo see him at the top of a slippery slope.

i think its a british thing when athletes say there the best we get a bit uneasy and we start thinking there too cocky but the thing i find a bit annoying is they've sold him as the well spoken polite boy next door and i dont think thats his personality.

Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
never seen this Colin Bains fight before but 9 wins with 0 ko's suggests he dosnt have the KO power to nail anyone... maybe the few flush shots Khan took in his last fight is the reason for this matchup but saying that the only loss on Bains record is to Ricky Burns a very good boxer but burns not noted for his power had him down in the 2nd.
Khan should shine in this one and if he can't finish him early i'd say his power isnt that great

would love to see Khan go on to do well but the cracks that are starting to show at a very low level aint a good sign :-\

why does being a muslim always have to come into it? i dont care what religion he is hes still cocky.pulling more girls? he hasnt got a girlfriend hes a flop with girls he said that himself.look why dont you go to cardiff and support him if your that much of a fan. ;D

Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
So what if he is cocky??? If you dont like him for that don't watch his fights come and see me Emma ;),I think he need to work more on his defence,he got talent and IMO he could go all the way.Nothing to do with religious or jealousy its same like people would watch Tyson and pray that he get TFKO.I am not fan of Amir but I don't hate on him and hoping he get KO just because he is cocky or Muslim or any other BS. ;D

Ok I've been thinking about why I dislike him and I've come up with the following reasons.
1) His 'runner up' medal at the olympics catapualted him to a superstardom that I don't think his current achievements and ability warrants. Rather than being a genuine boxing star, I feel he comes across more as a 'reality tv' manufactured boxer, kind of like a boxing pop idol.
2)He has fought nobody of any significance yet he is already saying things like , 'I'd love to fight Mayweather in a 6 rounder', or 'When I'm 21 no-one, in my weight class will be able to touch me!. Mouthy statements like this were the trademark of 'little twat' Naseem, and 'giant twat' Audrey Harrison.
3)He's already showboating, dropping his hands, sticking out his tongue and inviting his opponents to hit him. This isn't really an endearing trait, especially when all of his opponents are either new professionals just coming through, or useless journeymen with 400 % more losses than wins. Showboating against this calibre of opposition is tantamount to bullying, like picking on the smallest kid with glasses at school to make yourself feel hard. Showboat against Margarito and win and you will get my respect, showboat against a fighter ranked 357th in the world and I'll think you are a wanker.
4)He already displays some glaring flaws. His defense is ragged, he's way too open, and he jumps around so much I doubt he could finish a 12 round fight at present. None of this is a problem, he's young, he will improve, but don't shout off like you are already one of Britains greatest fighters when you havn't even completed an 8 rounder yet.
5)Finally, I hate the way he overshadows every other fighter. Like today it's Skelton against Williams in a huge domestic fight that promises to be a war. Tough up can comer Maccarinelli is also fighting in a WBO world title eliminator but you know he will barely get a mention next to the wonderboy Khan, who is competing in only the second 6 round fight of his career, against a man with an impressive 0 ko's!
That just about sums up my dislike for him. If he does go on to achieve great things, I will no doubt warm to him in the same way I have started to appreciate Carl Froch a little more this year. Until then though, I will be shouting and screaming at my television set for him to get put on his ass and sent packing with his first crushing defeat.
Maybe after that I'l like him a little more ;)

Hey saddo, actually in mentioning Burns you highlighted one of the reasons the 'Amir Khan show' annoys me so much. Ricky Burns is a tremendously slick boxer, giving Alex Arthur a war in only his 14th fight and beating British champ Graham Earl in just his 10th!
This kid really does have talent, yet aside from the knowledgeable boxing fans on boards such as this, none of the public have ever heard of him.

the guy got England a Bronz in the olympics .. if he hadn't participated no one would have played for England .
give it a rest .. or prove yourself better than khan . >:mad

for sure mate hes one to watch in the future... if only he had a dig he'd be unstopable :(
got to say that joe public ((itv boxing fans)) dont really know that much about boxing so Khan is getting showcased more than boxers who have achived more... same thing happened to Audley with the BBC.
it aint Khans fault its just the way it works with the casual fan...
I do hope Khan can come through and learn the pro game at his own pace and not be caught up in all the hype while doing so...
Alex Arthur needed the Gomez loss to bring him back down to earth and has became a better boxer because of it IMO.
time will tell with Khan but i agree there are far more talented fighters out there not getting the exposure or cash of khan but then hey Kahn is still creating more fans than the sport had before so it aint all bad mate ;)

Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
i jus hate the fact that you guys want him to get ko, after all this success.
ONE THING I DONT LIKE ABOUT HIS ATTITUDE TO BOXING IS - HE'S ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT RETIREMENT. I JUST READ THAT AFTER 30 FIGHTS HE WILL RETIRE. is this jus talk or is he reallly after the money and then get out of it.
he has toooo much of a sportsman attitude to boxing. a proper fighter wants to continue no matter how muc money they have....like.....oscar de la hoya!
-
Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
Anybody who doesn't like Amir Khan is obviously deluded and myopic. Amir is the most attractive sportsman in the world at the moment. He is a handsome gorgeous chap with a lovely deep rugged masculine voice and big beautiful bulging muscles. I don't know much about boxing, but I know a gorgeous hunk when I see one. :) :) :)

Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
Amir thinks he would beat Floyd Mayweather in a 4 round match up :lolhaha:
-
Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
Its not that absurd...
It would only go 4 rounds :P
-
Re: Am I the only one hoping Amir Khan get's nailed?
Put Khan in with John Murray at 135.
A kid like Murray would show Khan't what pro-boxing is all about...
Its not all about Range Rovers, Chip shops and rigged exhibition fights.

Maybe he's just trying to take a long view on his career, and setting himself targets that he wats to achieve along the way before he does retire.
Then, when he achieves all that he wants, he can go and retire, sit on his mountain of loot, and enjoy watching others do the hard work in the ring. And if he achieves all he wants in his 30 pro fights, then he will have a very good career to look back on, but if he remains under FW's record boosting wing, then he won't have a decent fight until his 28th, and after that we'll see if he's any good or not.

He is just trying to say all the right things that people expect him to say.
He's going to be champion by the time he's 21, he's going to have a great career, unbeaten and retire on top after 30 fights and at around 28 years old.
He sounds like the boy at school who says he's going to be an astronaut when he grows up, as well as scoring the winner in the World Cup Final for England.
He's just a naive, impressionable boy who has got swept along with his own hype.
Truth is, he wont win a title until he's probably about 25, he'll never unify the divisions, he'll get beat a bunch of times and will probably still be hangin around at around 35 years old desperate to win his second title.

Amir just needs to fight more often. Whilst fighting 6 and 8 rounders, you can fight at least once a month. Amir should be 14/15-0 by now, not 8-0.
But that is the only minor criticism I would have of him. He gets a very solid 7 out of 10 for his first years work IMO.

leave religion out of it you pillock. It's got nothing to do with it, MOST boxers I know are pretty humble and confident about their abilities they don't need to go shooting their mouths off and when they I and many others can't wait for someone to shut it for them. Being confident does not mean you have to act like an arsehole.

Agree totally, his next one is on the undercard of the M'Baye-Balbi fight in September, so he's not being overly axed in terms of hard work.
He's managed to win all his fights so far in the ring, though the usual ponderous build-up in class for frank warren's opponents could be a bit quicker, but generally he's doing alright, but he's got plenty of time to get his power up and develop into a top notch fighter, if he's got the right attitude and a good coach.
