Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Sorry to be patronising, but get to a boxing gym and listen!!
then work hard
work hard
work hard
it will come but it takes time.
individuals physiques are down to genectics tho.

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Having their genetics would help... every one's fondation is built differently... and you can only build certain things on certain foundations... I'm developing a build similar to Ali... I could never have a build like Tysons. ;)
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
So whats the difference between ali's and tysons physique? What better to have?
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
neither is rele better to be honest they suit each of them as individuals everyones different and has a different physique tht is suited to them
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
neither is better... its specific to your frame and your genetics... it depends on wether you want to look good or actually be good...
Winky Wright is the same height as Tyson... Winky Wright could never be built like Tyson... just work hard in the gym and develop your physique.
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Sorry m8. what do u mean gym? Gym as in a weight room or a boxing gym with punch bags and stuff?
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?

Are you after the the car body or the car engine? ;)

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
I don't actually have any footage of my self training or competing.
If you have it I'd love to see it... care to dig up the link?
Thought not.

I have an idea who it may be, forgot his name... remember that who kid who made a tit out of him self... begging for sad clicks in here and when I posted the Rocky spoof video he said "I take boxing seriously." then proceeded to say that he was going to "enter into a small town tornemant (wtf) he knew he would win and box drunk".
He eventualy got banned for throwing his bottle out of the pram with Gutshot over the sad click thing and bad mouthing the forum.
His IP didn't match anyones but there are ways to change your IP.
If it is him its pretty sad that he's signed up again to 'get me' and its also pretty stupid that despite being told it wasn't me in the video he still doesn't get it ;)

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
I guess Tyson's been fighting as a heavyweight ever since he got started (quickly skimmed a bio); but I can't imagine anyone could reach Mike Tyson's physique without any sort of weight training @ all.
Boxing is good for endurance and strength no doubt, but to put on size, unless someone has ridiculously good genetics, weight exercises generally aren't enough in regards to building physique (unless the goal is to stay lean).

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Tyson was my build when he was 13... ;)

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
what weight divison was tyson fighting at when he was an amatuer
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Light heavy when he was younger and then heavyweight, not sure if he ever fought at super heavy weight or not.

i disagree....If you bulk up and lift heavy, you could get enough muscle mass to look like Tyson..
Not everything is genetic, Tyson is not even a bodybuilder....it would only take a few years of weightlifting and eating right to get a bulky physique like his.
It's just Tyson was naturally born with that physique (although i do remember reading that he did weights when he was younger at the centre)....hard work pays off, it would be easier than you think.
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Mind you, if your an ectomorph and over 6 feet it would be extremly difficult because that's a very hard base to build muscle on.
But possible nonetheless
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
It's not possible for every one, fact... for starters only a select few people have a skeleton of that size and some people anabolic rates just won't allow them to develop that much lean muscle.
Hard work? Please :P easy with the right genetics maybe.
It's easy to develop mass and 'bulk up'. a cut look with lean muscle can only be achieved by a select few, sure you can go the 'supplement and sun bed route' where you basically pump your arms full of water but even then you would still only look like a poor man's Tyson... and that is of course assuming that you have the same frame.
Carlos Maussan is Tyson's height, nothing short of plastic surgery, bone implant ants, steroids and a team of experts working with him 365 days a year would get him looking anything like Tyson.
Like I said it is all about foundations and genetics, if you don't have the frame, metabolism and Anabolic rate than it won't happen.
That bloated would be muscular look that every body walks around with from miss using supplements and pumping a few weights is a piece of piss to get, actual lean muscle fibers are only available to those with the genetics to get it.
What does Tyson not being a body builder have to do with it? Genetics may be the main factor in body building but all athletes need good genetics. ;)

Quiet a high majority of people can at 5'10 can get a body like Tyson's......Ok, probably not ectomorphs like Maussa because that would be strecthing it.
It also depends what bodytype you are, you may have meso characteristics (a perfect foundation to build muscle) mixed with some endo characteristics (a softer body that builds fat alot easier)..
Genes have a big part of it, but it dosen't mean everything...it just happens to mean that it would take you longer than a person with better gentics to gain muscle.
If you have a fast metabolism, then that means you have to eat alot more so your body is forced to gain weight..
And i don't you want you mean by the 'supplement and sun bed route' pumping your arms full of water....Almost everyone who lifts weights seriously uses supplements, to improve their gains.

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Besides, Tyson didn't have the greatest physique anyway...
He was pretty big, but not that cut most of the time...This physique is achievable with consistentsy and hard work for alot of people at 5'10 (not all), i guess we just don't agree.

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Well, you gotta know that at age 13, Tyson weighed 200 pounds, and could bench more then his own weight (although I think this is highly unlikely, I read this somewhere before)

Tyson was cut... we'll have to agree to disagree, I am talking about his physiques in terms of his strength, speed and power... the efficientness of his muscular mass, I get the feeling that what you are talking about is simply size, ie: cosmetics over athleticism ;)
It is achievable, but only with the right genetics... ;)
I know why people take supplements, what I am talking about are the miss users you get now days who train purely for cosmetics... so use supplements cosmetically... for mass. I can tell who is using supplements properly (if at all: basically eating right) just by looking at them... the same goes for people who use it simply for volumizing... they have that bloated look.
I'm simply talking about the would be body builder look it is trendy and easy to get you see every one getting in gyms.
-
Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
I agree with both of you - Adam and One; it is down to genetics initially then hard graft. Tyson has a high proportion of dense type 11 muscle fibres compared to the average Joe.
The best bodybuilders also have these proportions too. Given a different set of circumstances Tyson could probably have made it as a top bodybuilder. I remember years ago watching a schwarzenegger documentary. There was this dude who was an ex Italian lightweight pro boxing champ - though he was a good boxer he also had the right genetics to gain muscle mass. Coupled with the right training and drugs he could compete with the best bodybuilders in the world. I think an athlete has to be mostly mesomorphic to achieve these massive gains though. :)

Yeah, i was mainly talking about the appearance of Tyson.....you'd have to be a one in a million to have a body's like Tyson and the ability to use it as well as he does. He's a one off.
But the bodybuilder look is not something that is easily accomplished, hard work, diet and hardcore dicisipline..... it really takes alot out of you.
Well, it's killing me at the moment ;D

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
If I had the choice I wouldn't want Tyson's physique. I just couldn't box with it. I'm a taller, lankier fighter and bulk would just slow me down. Develop yourself to be a better yourself. Don't try to be somebody else (yes that applies to boxing too).

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
anybody noticed that there are a fair few people on this thread that joined in about may/june 2006 and only have a few posts to their name? And all saying stupid stuff. Me thinks they may all be the same person.

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
I used to be mates with a couple of competition bodybuilders. They trained six days per week, used supplements and ate healthy. I started getting interested in boxing and we would often talk about Tyson and his physique. I remember them telling me that Tyson wasn't ripped. I tried arguing with them and told them I had read somewhere that he had once been measured as having 6% body fat. Bullshit they said. I didn't believe them till I saw images of bodybuilders competing with actual 6% bodyfat. These guys looked more lean than weigh in Pacquiao but with alot more muscle mass. My mates explained that Tyson had probably been measured the "old school pinch test way with calipers" as opposed to the modern method where they send an electric pulse through your body. I don't know if they were bullshitting me because the only things I know about bodybuilding are from what they told me. I still reckon Tyson is ripped though because I don't see the point in comparing him to some guy who hasn't eaten carbs or drank any water who would literally collapse from exhaustion without even getting hit once in a bout.
From what they told me it's impossible to tell whether or not someone can achieve a physique like Tyson's or Ali's without at least having seen a photo of them. Though a well designed program, proper form, diet, supplementation and adequate rest are of the upmost performance, genetics has a huge role to play. I understand why alot of people choose to deny this believing that you will never truly know your limits should you adhere to the "fatalistic mindset" that we are all doomed by our blood but at the same time there's no point killing yourself trying to achieve the impossible. I've seen some photographic evidence of some amazing transformations but how many of these were not aided by steroids? If you want to achieve a Tyson physique you better prepare to make a choice between bodybuilding or boxing. I don't believe it is possible to truly excel in either at the same time but hey maybe I've just got weak genes!

Re: How can i get a "mike tyson or muhammed ali" physique?
Ali, during his Cassius Clay day's was really a fine athlete. He did a lot of roadwork, and was running even in his youth. He'd do long distance, wind sprints, with a lot of variety at times. His strong legs were his foundation, but he was also blessed with good genetics and was very committed to his training.

neither method is perfect... Bio-electric impedance also measures the fat in your stomach (if you've just had a glass of milk etc ;)) and also some of the fat around your joints and organs etc.
I've got a mate who's as cut as me... maybe more and his measure on the electric machine came out as almost 20%!... I got 8.5% using the electronic method and 10% using calipers (pinchers). So if what these guys say is true then I should have got a higher score with the electric pulse.
There are loads of ways of testing and there's variances of up to between 1-3% between most of them, give or take, biometrics might have had him lower or higher than calipers.
If you're testing yourself then the important thing is to always use the same conditions, methods and equipment when testing so that you can measure your progress more effectively.
it's also worth nothing that when they're cutting up for a competition a body builder might walk around at 6% body fat but on the day of the competition they'll be lower than that and massivly dehydrated too. It's one of body building's ironys - when they're looking their best is actually when they're at their weakest... I've had storys from guys who've barely been able to stand and do the poses etc...
Shit... I remember a few years ago when I had the 'noro virus'... I was ripped like a skinny body builder... 0_o
