interesting stuff Scraps. I especially like the dumbell one, I'd add a couple sets of elifts at the end to get the added benefit of working the fast twitchies and anaerobic/cardio.
I have an AWESOME workout. I'm trying to get some vids on youtube...... ill keep ya posted.
The roller is good when you get good at it. then you get a skipping rope and skip while you are on it, thats when you become very sharp and cordinated.
I find it interesting on this thread that their isnt much feedback. At first I wasnt going to put it up, I thought Id be giving to much away. Do you know whats happening Biomechanically
scrap give me some advice on training with resistance bands please
Relentless, in what way
any, i just bought one so i was thinking of ways i can use it in my boxing training, maybe footwork hand speed?
Give us a clue, what type is it how long has it got handles how strong is it
the band is 1.5 meters long it has 2 handles its supposd to be "extra strong"
sorry its 1.2 meter
Put a loop in the middle and thread it through a belt round your waist. make sure when your in the on guard position, you have tension so the punching muscles have a response. Speed comes from the first 3 inch of any movement that also includes techniuqe so make it so you have plenty of tension away you go. Have a look at the thread, hand speed and do a bit of both.
cc for putting the vids up.I'll try those exercises for sure, but what's the thing connected to the wooden plate used in the 2nd exercise
BTW What happens biomechanicaly?
Had one for years I call it a wobbly board Reebock brought them out about 3 years ago but got it wrong, [not enough angle].Its best to try these with your eyes shut, the response is better, also bare footed. the roller and balls, you are working on touch and feel, while the muscles are stableizing form and response over 3 inch. ankle metatarsus toe and achilles where move ment is generated from in a vertical posture. Plus its stretching the hhamstrings by up to 3 inch at speed without to much impact while the whole body has a job to do as far as cordination and speed response, thats a bit of what it does. Try it you will shocked at the improvement in speed.
first 3 inches? is that why when a boxer is shadow boxing he doesnt bring out his punch properly?, like when he throws a straight right he comes like half way?Quote:

Basically they are not thinking what they are doing, and neither is the coach.
it when they do the pretend windmill/upper cut florry... it looks a lot faster in a public work out and impresses the press... ;)
Thanks for explainingQuote:

The dumbell one is in this footwork/ balance section because he's actually standing on a wobble board while he's doing it and he looks very still because he's working his core to stabilize his position despite the various ways he's holding the dumbells? That's a guess although I might have missed something obvious?
I like the way these exercises work all the muscles in the feet which are not usually exercised as much while wearing shoes. Also the hamstring stretching is valuable. Could this type of exercise therefore also double as part of an injury prevention plan aswell as a balance/ co-ordination exercise
yes they can ,incorparate them in your workout 3 times a week youve very little chance of getting injured
cc scrap interesting stuff

That's what I (and some of my injured friends) like to hear Thanks Scrap :)
Hi Scrap,
I was practicing on the balls last night - attempting to shadow spar on them and one of my coaches came up and said I'd have to try it in the park on roller skates.
I thought he was joking for a second but having thought about it maybe he wasn't (sometimes can't tell with this one :))
Some of my old running buddies with fantastic sprinting ability come from a speed skating or roller blading background so I think it's good for getting power in the quads and has little impact.
Also was thinking i wouldn't get as much sideways balance training from it but would have to control balance while pushing off of a rear foot and shadow boxing.
What do you think?
Rollerblading and shadow boxing on roller blades any good?
Roller skates, been working with them for qiute a while but in a different context. cant see what he means in the park. Yes weve found ways to make your feet faster with rollerskates but thats not the way.
Sounds like a really good idea Scrap - to shadow box with skates on. It would certainly keep the big toe and adductors working. :)
The way to do it , is plyos with skates thats all youre getting.
Have you ever tried x-country roller skis Scrap? Up a steep hill gives a fairly good plyo session. :)
Md, I bet it is
plyos as in plyometric jumps?Quote:

or is my understanding of what you mean by plyos a bit off?
Thanks for your input to CC MD :)Quote:

Hi Scrap,
how many times a week would you recommend to do these exercises to see improvements?
Spend 10 minutes a session you will get use to the Technique. once you master that youre on your way.
I got it at a Scrapyard, paid £2 old cut off.
Hey scrap, no long no speak. Where can I get my hands on one of those wobble boards? all the ones I have seen in the shops have not been that large or have that big of a ball at the bottom of it.
