Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
I never been a fan of this clown. He's a waste of talent who has no respect for boxing. I never understood why so many people speak highly of him. This clip shows the real Augustus, taking a dive. And he actually wants HBO to use him as a replacement to fight Vivian Harris? Fuck him.

Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
I remember that fight lol He jumped in the air as the shot landed he was there for a pay day. But I've seen worse from some of the "respected" fighters nowadays. Anyway, why do you hate on Augustus since after that he gave Mayweather his toughest fight and has been robbed on more then one occasion, soon as he made a decision to start winning he has been in some of the most entertaining fights. I don't know how you call anyone a powder puff if you've seen his fights with Mickey Ward and Floyd Mayweather ::**

anyone that takes a dive is a powder puff ! If not physically weak, mentally weak . The ole saying once a crook always a crook, how you going to get excited about someone that might lay down for the right money? It’s horrible for boxing !

Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
So then Willie Pep is a disgrace to all of boxing being that he was known for the dives he took ;) Jack Dempsey too I'm guessing :o Rey Mercer as well I wonder ??? :o Yea all have disgraced boxing ::**

so you would reward that type of behavior? ! ::** Yes anyone that takes a dive or has taken a dive has damaged the sport of boxing . That’s obvious !

Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
Hell no I wouldn't!! But given the fact of what he's done since then has made it up for me. If he dived and then went on with a career such with him doing that, then I would say negative things, but his career since then he has more then made up for it when you consider what he's done who he's fought and how he's faired. And that Mickey Ward fight put away any thoughts in my mind that he was a powder puff not to mention all these other guys he's beating ;) I think he's made up for it since he didn't make "the dive" his career.
-
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
augustus has been fucking DQd for dancing, that shows you who the real "powderpuff bitches" are, the refs, not to mention the judges that will score a round against him if he dances even once
even tho the guy outlands his opponents when he does the dancing they treat it as if he is doing it to show off, its dont to confuse the other fighter

All he's done since is whine, bitch and complain about how everybody is ducking him. As well as testing positive for drugs. How long is he going to use "gave Mayweather his toughest fight" line. If anything, it's not even an accurate statement anymore. Mayweathers toughest fight came from Jose Luis Castillo.

I can appreciate what your saying , but once a fighter has taken a dive, what is to keep them from doing it at some other point in the future ? , see what I mean? how can you trust him ? To me it’s a deal breaker , one thing you know is that he is weak in the area of integrity , and once that’s established someone with the right money knows they can broker a deal for theirfighter to knockout the Muff Diver ! So why would any boxing fan pay to see that person ever fight again. ?? Can you imagine paying to see a fight that has the history of a possible fix? Hell no ! It can’t be trusted. It’s very important to weed out that type of behavior, in the most strict manner possible, fines and permanent suspension
cool click ! I enjoyed the discussion Starr !

Personally...I agree with ya babe.
I think that he's bit of a punk & he acts like an idiot. He's lost a lot of close fights that he pissed away acting like a gotdam fool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
He's a crowd pleaser and is always game. That dive is discusting no doubt and I really do have a bad taste in my mouth after seeing that. But he is the same guy that gave us the fight of the year with Mickey Ward. I can't hate him to much. And the dancing, come on people, this is a sport that has seen ear biters, wife beaters, murderers, kidnappers etc win world titles and be praised, yet this guy catches flak for putting on a show? Come on now.
CC for the video though. Fuck that is ridiculous.

Nah, watching that video is sick..can't make any excuses for the guy. It's like he robbed everyone who came to see the fight that night. It doesnt matter what hes done since...he got no character and whatever he had he put a cheap price on it
-
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
I never cared for him...the dancing and shit doesn't sit well with me. I mean it's fine to showboat but to do it while losing is another story.

If he was ever gonna dive again wouldn't he have done it against Ward? ;) Have you seen the fight or just that clip? Watching the fight it was obvious he wasn't going to win he was pretty much being beaten up and dominated so he ended it. So I wouldn't call it a "DIVE" I would call it his way of getting out of a fight, unacceptable but still, he didn't make the dive his whole career, looking at the Mickey Ward fight do you ever think this guy is ever gonna do that again?

Yeah Wacko and when he decided to fight seriously like you WANTED him to fight and TKO'd Rangell you found reasons to fault him then too even though he fought the way you said he should ::**
Why don't you look at it this way, its his style, it works for him, it wins his fights and as you saw fighting serious he isn't nearly as effective. Aint it what Sturm just learned yesterday? Can't fight what the people want you to see? You fight with what works for you and when you're most effective? Augustus does that and fighting your way disadvantages him. it's his style, leave him to it, he's at his best when he does it so leave it at that. It works for him!
-
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
It took him what 11 rounds to stop Rangel? A fellow C level fighter. Yet he thinks HBO should use him to fight Vivian Harris.

Do you take a chance and eat one? hope you don't get sick? or do you just go to the store and get some good fresh fruit? i vote for the fresh fruit !

That was yeeeeeeears ago and consider what he's done since. Like I said he didn't make that moment his whole career.

Yeah I have seen lots of Augusta fights, and have been impressed with him over all.. like you said the Ward fight was a classic war. and others I had seen were all good competitive fights . he is always on ESPN classic showing vintage fights of his , so you know he brings it, I just never seen the dive clip till today ! very disturbing to see an obvious dive like that. at least walk into the punch and take it flush on the chin. LOL

You speak as if Vivian Harris is anything above a C fighter ;)
Are we talking about the same Vivian Harris that was knocked out by Carlos Maussa and who was beat down by Ray Olivera.. oh yea the same Olivera that Augustus beat ;)

Remember Harris coming into the ring after Tszyu defended his title, and he squared up to him and looked down at him from above with that stare. Tszyu paid him no mind, a week or so later Harris is moped off the canvas, I loved it !

I don't think much of Harris myself. But wins over Urkal and Hurtado are still more than anything Augustus has done. And it's funny how you say Augustus is constanly robbed, yet mention Olivera-Harris. Which was an obvious gift to Olivera.

You know what? I got Harris-Olivera confused with Harris-Robinson. A draw that should of been a Harris win. My mistake. Still it don't changed the fact that Augustus is unworthy of an HBO date.
-
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
Do you think Vivian Harris is more deserving?
-
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
I really like watching Emanuel Augustus fight, especially guys who are about on his level,... But I love how people say he gave Mayweather his toughest fight... NO way was that even a tough fight... Castillo and Judah both were actually competitive with him, I would say Carlos and Genaro Hernandez both gave him tougher fights as well.. Watch Augustus' fight with Floyd, he lands one left hook worth a damn the whole fight, and it's not like he has alot of power... Other then that he managed to dance around while getting tatooed, that's supposed to be a tough fight?
-
Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
Let me ask you. When have you ever seen Floyd bloodied before? ;)

Nah, man fuck you. Augustus is a hell of a fighter. Like Starr said watch his fights with Floyd Maywhether and Micky Ward. Floyd still says he is the tuffest guy he ever faced, and would defeat a lot of world champions. Augustus at his best is a very exciting fighter to watch with a lot of heart. It is weird that he would do that in a fight, but since then I have never seen him lay down or even come close. He is a better fighter than Vivian Harris and has faced and beaten better competition, so he is more than worthy of replacing him.

Who has he beaten that's so good? Jamie Rangel? Alex Trujillo? Come on homie, stop embarrassing yourself by saying he's beaten good competition. And the slot is to face Harris not replace him. As overrated as Harris is. He still murder's Augustus ass.

Well he had a very close fight I thought he won with Micky Ward, Courtney Burton and Sucra Ray Olivera as well. Plus many a good prospect but he just didn't get the decision. The guy got up from a killer Ward body shot, so he is not a quitter, and does not take dives anymore. Even the Bronx Bull Jake Lamotta took a dive when he was forced to. Name some good fighters Harris has beaten.

Re: Emanuel Augustus. Boxings biggest joke
That video made me sick.
That's really disappointing because I actually found him very entertaining in the Olivera fight.
I just can't forgive a fighter for doing that. I takes the esscence out of boxing and makes you worry about other guys doing it as well.

I agree essentially but it should be noted that those were the closing seconds of the 12th round, it was in Denmark, and 6 years ago.. I don't think he threw the fight really, he just couldn't win rounds and wanted to get it over with and not hear the decision is my guess. You have to assume he had some issue that night, because noone else has ever stopped him and he's fought alot of good fighters anywhere any place, and always comes to fight.

Exactly, he just decided to end the fight on his own because it was obvious he wasn't going to win so he didn't "throw" the fight ::**
And besides considering what he's done since then its irrelevant since he didn't throw that fight, he was already going to lose so he took an opportunity to end the fight on his own. So no he didn't "throw" the fight, and don't act like he's the first to end a fight that way.

Something is fishy about the whole thing. Your analyzing of the situation Is preposterous
He says to himself I am losing so I’ll just pretend to get knockout??? That the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If your losing on points your going to try an make the final bell. because you lose a decision not so bad, you lose getting knocked out , well not so good. , fighters that feel they are losing on the cards always try and make the final bell, at least the ones with heart and character. EA loses points on integrity with that performance, The truth be told , He is a tainted product and really should be black listed for that S*** !

Really? So Alexis Arguello has no integrity for staying on the canvas in the rematch with Pryor because it was obvious to him that him that he wasn't going to win? ;)

I can't comment on Argrello- Pryor , can't remember the details of that fight, were talking about this EA fight . Now I know there were speculation that someone changed out Pryor's water bottle in the first fight, he became ill and was beat by Arguello .. its all speculation of course , but bad boxing press none the less. I am not saying this is the only bad guy on the block, I am saying it is wide spread and needs to be dealt with, the corruption in this sport , at all levels is why its listed as “other “when you go looking for news about boxing . the mainstream people have a bad taste because of the corruption, It's what is drowning this sport , most people see Pro Boxing like Pro Wrestling with a script an all. Fake, and I think that’s a god damn shame ! Someone needs to step in and police the sport of boxing . it’s the wild wild west.
