Winky Wright Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions make offer to Top Rank for $1.5 million to provide the services of Antonio Margarito.

Los Angeles – Today Chris Lighty, CEO of Winky Promotions extended a formal offer to Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum for $1.5 million to provide the services of Antonio Margarito.

Said Winky Wright: “I am ready, willing and able to give Antonio Margarito a chance for a mega fight where he can prove to the world what he is all about. My promotional company Winky Promotions together with Golden Boy Promotions are ready to put together a spectacular promotion”.

Said Golden Boy Promotions President, Oscar de la Hoya: “We believe that this is a fair offer for Top Rank and Antonio Margarito. It is an opportunity for Antonio to get not only a big fight but also the biggest purse of his career. This is what Winky Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions are all about”.

Winky UD for me.

Margaritos relentless attack will be a good test for him, but nothing he has not faced before i guess.

I dont think Margarito is intelligent enough to beat winky.

I can't see Wright knocking Margarito out unless his gloves are loaded, but Wright will clean him up & win clearly on the cards. Good on Wright though for giving Margarito a shot

Hmm, for the conspiracy theorist out there (basically you Sal). Winky joins forces with Oscar De La Hoya. De La Hoya knows the only person placing a fight between him and Mayweather in danger is Tony Margarito. So Oscar sends his new hound on Margarito. Actually, it's not far fetched at all.

Margarito has the capability to punch straight agead so that could give Winky some trouble. But Wink still wins UD.

yeah Just two weeks ago on ESPN 2 Winky calmly laughed off Brian Kenny's sugesstion of a Winky/Oscar fight and said that he knows for a fact that Oscar never wants to fight him,

Being the control freak that he is Oscar has now joined Winky who he is probably begging to challenge Margarito who the persistant challenger of Oscar's #1 propect Mosley, Oscar's big money opponant Mayweather and even Oscar himself.

What a big Thorn Margarito's been for Oscar first while sparring and now in business-Oscar won't stand for it.

Let's see if Tony takes the fight now. It's obvious what is going on. ODLH wants to fight PBF in May for his grand hurrah and he doesn't want anybody to think PBF is running from Tony and discredit PBF and ruin promotion for the fight. So like the poster said above ODLH hires a gun to go and silence Tony for good. I knew Wink was gonna fight Tony. Wink is gonna get in there and put some work in and put away Tony in 10.

There has been quite a few top boxers who challenge up in weight but please inform me how many times in boxing history a top boxer has challenged two weight classes under? ?just seems to lack tact for some reason to me.

In my opinion Margarito should think with his head and not his heart in this challenge and first unify the welterweight titles which is pretty sure thing and of equal reward and then take the riskier Wright.

You were just looking to jump on anybody who gave Margarito anything close to a shot. Please Taeth your better then that. I'm a big of Winky fan as there is. His defense is masterful and everything but if there is one way to get through it, it's to fire straight ahead through the uprights. Margarito has that capability. But he won't be slipping Winky's jab and...he's just not as polished as Winky. Winky UD. Just like I said before Taeth ;)

I like Margarito, but I don't think he hits as hard as Trinidad or Taylor not even close... I would like to give him a chance, but the only thing Margarito has on Mayweather he doesn't have on WInky... anyways something tells me this fight is happening.

I know they are NOWHERE near as good as Winky but Kyvelos attempted to back Tony up,he said it was his gameplan,Santos did try too and so did the Argentinan Lujan.In that fight Margarito was actually boxing and moving!! Then he thought better of it and broke Lujan#s ear! ;D People think Margarito is stupid,1 dimensional etc but the guy can switch hit,counter,mash up your body(as he did to Santos and Cintron) etc. He's not as dumb as some would like to believe.

well fuck ODLH if thats the case....but i dont think tony is just looking for a payday....if he can pull out a great showing vs winky (as hard as that will be) tony will have even more of a case to call out PBF.......and imo PBF and ODLH will absolutely be fighting.....

Love the idea of this fight too!!! :) But Margaritos punches as many as he throws I'm worried Winky will block them and hit Margarito in between. But I swear if Tony had better defense and used his height he would be much harder to beat!! :)
